BEN - GIBEN DAN NASE’ LANCENG PERNIKAHAN DI DALEMAN GALIS BANGKALAN MADURA PERSPEKTIF HUKUM ISLAM
Abstract : This is a field research to answer the two fundamental questions, namely: what the status of the ben-giben and nase’ lanceng tradition related to marital contract in village Daleman, district Galis, region Bangkalan-Madura is, and how the point of view of the Islamic law to their legal status is. The data of the research are gained through interview to some of the village’s local religious figures and the participants of the ben-giben and nase’ lanceng. The collected data are then qualitatively analyzed by using a descriptive technique and inductive-deductive mindset. The study concludes that: first, the handing of the ben-giben and nase’ lanceng is that if the parents want to marry their child, they have to include the items required in the form of cattle, samper lasem, a basket of egg and a cone; second, the tradition of ben-giben and nase’ lanceng is not contrary to Islamic law and to the principle of marriage, namely the principle of willingness between the groom and the bride. Based on the above conclusions, the author recommends that such tradition may be continued and preserved to the next generation of the village. In addition, a belief about a negative impact of the tradition for the natives is necessarily clarified by the local religious figures since it is naturally happening under the God’s will. The effect of velodrome geometry on determining cyclists CdA: an explorative study
Aerodynamics are an important factor in competitive cycling and easy and realistic aerodynamic measurement methods are helpful for the riders and coaches. An indoor velodrome, minimizing the environmental effects, could be a suitable location for quick, reliable, and easy measurements on cyclist CdA. However, the effect of banked straights and bends on the CdA determination remains unclear. The goal of this study is to investigate how the track geometry impacts the CdA measurements. Two methods for the calculation of CdA where compared, one that does and one that does not take track characteristics into account. For the measured CdA, no difference between the two methods was found. Additionally, a moderate intraclass correlation was found between the two methods and the drag measured in a wind tunnel (method 1: ICC = 0.76, method 2: ICC = 0.77). A difference in drag of 7.6 Watts and more at a speed of 50 km/h was found to be accurately measured by both methods. In the bends, a significantly lower power output was found, resulting in a different CdA value between the bends and straights. This difference remains after taking the track characteristics into account. It can be concluded that for velodrome aerodynamic drag measurements, the banking and bends do not have to be considered. In this study, no conclusion can be drawn on the found differences in CdA between the bends and the straights. Future research could determine whether these differences are due to incomplete dynamics or a real difference in aerodynamics.Biomedical Engineerin
PROBLEM DAN SOLUSI ATAS PENERAPAN TA’ZIR DI PESANTREN (Studi Kasus di Pondok Pesantren Al Ibrohimy Galis Bangkalan)
Initially, the application of ta'zir was considered normal among pesantren and the community. But lately, not a few who argue that ta'zir applied in pesantren is synonymous with violence. This study aims to analyze the problem of applying Ta'zir in Al Ibrohimy Galis Bangkalan Islamic boarding school along with alternative solutions that rely on Human Rights in Indonesia. The author uses descriptive qualitative research, with primary data sources Al Ibrohimy boarding school and board chair, as well as relevant secondary sources. Meanwhile, data collection techniques through observation, interviews, documentation and questionnaires. The findings of this study reveal that ta'zir in Al Ibrohimy Islamic boarding school is a way of disciplining troubled students to obey the rules of Islamic boarding schools. The application of ta'zir is also understood as a means of educating students to have a deterrent effect and not to repeat it. However, ta'zir sometimes makes students become depressed, traumatized and even physically and psychologically ill. Therefore, there must be aware of the pesantren that excessive ta'zir is an act that cannot be fully justified. Thus, all elements of pesantren must have ta'zir options that do not conflict with human rights. Besides, to minimize excessive ta'zir, a reconstruction of the system is needed that provides an alternative punishment for education. So that educational activities in boarding schools run dynamically and humanis

TRADISI SALAT HADIAH DI DUSUN REMBAH DESA GALIS KECAMATAN GALIS KABUPATEN BANGKALAN
In modern times like today, spiritual intelligence is considered crucial. Incidents of crime and criminal behavior persist over time in various regions, indicating the need for an enhancement in human character. One way to achieve this is through an increase in spirituality or religious practices. "Salat Hadiah" is a voluntary prayer performed with the intention of dedicating its rewards to the deceased. It can be performed individually or collectively and is specifically aimed at assisting or comforting the deceased in their graves.
In response to this phenomenon, the author will examine the hadiths that underlie the community in Rembah in performing "Salat Hadiah" and explore the motivations behind it. This qualitative descriptive research takes place in the Rembah village in Bangkalan. To gather relevant data for the study, data collection involves observation in the Rembah village, interviews with key informants, and reviewing literature such as writings and books. The collected data is then analyzed using the living hadith method and Alfred Schutz's phenomenological approach.
The research results in two main discussions. First, it reveals that the hadiths influencing the people of Rembah in performing "Salat Hadiah" are found in the book Nihayatu al-Zain, book Nuhzatul Majalis, Manuscripts written by figures from Rembah, and the book Hadiatul Ahya’ Ilal Amwati Wama Yasilu Ilaihim. Second, the people of Rembah engage in "Salat Hadiah" for various reasons, including following a Guru or Community Leader, aiding the deceased on their first night in the grave, reminding themselves of death, seeking rewards from "Salat Hadiah," and fulfilling social expectations
Transnational Memory in Nancy Huston’s Plainsong, Fault Lines and The Mark of the Angel
As a Canadian born author who has lived in Paris for the majority of her life, and who writes in English and French, Nancy Huston and her literature are defined by multiple national and linguistic spaces. These characteristics mark Huston out as a transnational subject and writer, herself and her literature existing between and across different national spaces. Huston’s approach to literature, moreover, adds an alternative dimension to transnational theory; one which suggests a more nuanced way of making sense of transnational identity. For Huston, it is not enough to speak of transcending one’s national roots, since national origins are key components of the transnational condition. While transnational subjects may feel an affinity with multiple local and national spaces, each of these spaces will be valuable in its own right, and the transnational subject will recognise each of those spaces as having contributed to their overall, transnational identity. Indeed, national memories set in one place and time can have a profound influence on later memories forged in a new space. This paper will explore Huston’s transnational take on memory specifically, looking at how national memory is both respected in its own right, and reconsidered in conjunction with memories set in other places and times. It will be suggested that, in Plainsong, Fault Lines, and The Mark of the Angel, the significance of national memory is shown to transcend the locality and time of the initial event.1 Yet, as I will make clear, Huston does not negate the importance of preserving national difference. Indeed, Huston explores how national binaries can be brought forward and read anew, through this international comparison. I will further examine how Huston rethinks national memory from the perspective of individuals within the nation, refuting a monolithic account of collective national History. In this way, we will seek to establish how far Huston’s position is equally preoccupied with intranational as well as international dialogue. This paper will therefore attest to the idea that Huston’s transnational approach to memory simultaneously transcends the national and preserves national difference, both inter- and intranationally. To support these arguments, I will turn to the concept of multi-directional memory as put forward by Michael Rothberg, and that of palimpsestic memory, a theory elaborated by Max Silverman. I will also discuss the concept of time, looking to Walter Benjamin’s ‘The Angel of History’
Ethylene functions as a suppressor of volatile production in rice
This is a pre-copyedited, author-produced version of an article accepted for publication in [Journal of Experimental Botany] following peer review. The version of record [Mujiono, K., Tohi, T., Sobhy, I. S., Hojo, Y., Ho, N. T., Shinya, T., & Galis, I. (2020). Ethylene functions as a suppressor of volatile production in rice. Journal of Experimental Botany, 71(20), 6491-6511] is available online at: https://academic.oup.com/jxb/article/71/20/6491/5874908 [https://doi.org/10.1093/jxb/eraa341]We examined the role of ethylene in the production of rice (Oryza sativa) volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which act as indirect defense signals against herbivores in tritrophic interactions. Rice plants were exposed to exogenous ethylene (1 ppm) after simulated herbivory, which consisted of mechanical wounding supplemented with oral secretions (WOS) from the generalist herbivore larva Mythimna loreyi. Ethylene treatment highly suppressed VOCs in WOS-treated rice leaves, which was further corroborated by the reduced transcript levels of major VOC biosynthesis genes in ethylene-treated rice. In contrast, the accumulation of jasmonates (JA), known to control VOCs in higher plants, and transcript levels of primary JA response genes, including OsMYC2, were not largely affected by ethylene application. At the functional level, flooding is known to promote internode elongation in young rice via ethylene signaling. Consistent with the negative role of ethylene on VOC genes, the accumulation of VOCs in water-submerged rice leaves was suppressed. Furthermore, in mature rice plants, which naturally produce less volatiles, VOCs could be rescued by the application of the ethylene perception inhibitor 1-methylcyclopropene. Our data suggest that ethylene acts as an endogenous suppressor of VOCs in rice plants during development and under stress. We thank Atsushi Miyake (Okayama University) for help with development of GC-MS methods used for volatile measurements; Dr Hideyuki Matsuura (Hokkaido University) for providing deuterated jasmonate standards for LC-MS/MS; Dr Yasutaka Kubo (Okayama University) for providing 1-MCP; and Dr David Wari for checking the manuscript. ІСТОРИЧНІ І МОВНІ ЗАГАДКИ ГАЛИЧА
In the article, the author analyses controversial topographical issuesconnected with Halych. The main aspects of settlement and early statehood ofthe southern Poland and their research by historians have been investigated. Special attention was paid to explain the origin of the name Halych (of both mountain and town) from the mountain chain which probably served as the border between Poland, Rus and Hungary. The mentions of Halych in the Hungarian-Polish Chronicle and texts by Ian Dlugosh were analyzed. The existing versions of etymology of the name Halych have been specified. The question of the exact location of «castrum Galis» and border tables between Poland and Hungary (with the inscriptions in Cyrillic) which were located în themountain Halych is still open.
