Książka jest próbą uchwycenia doświadczeń nauczycielek specjalistycznych języków obcych w szkołach wyższych w perspektywie dynamicznych zmian kulturowych i idiograficznych historii. To studium roli zawodowej i kształtowania tożsamości zawodowej, a także obrazu szkoły wyższej jako miejsca pracy grupy nauczycieli, którzy z wielu powodów, między innymi formalno-organizacyjnych, funkcjonują poza głównym nurtem życia akademickiego. Co czują, jak postrzegają swoje miejsce w uczelni, jak konstruują swoją rolę lektorki? Na te i szereg innych pytań odpowiada badaczka. Tematyka pracy doskonale wpisuje się w obszar badań nad edukacją dorosłych, łącząc refleksję nad uczeniem się z przemianami tożsamości zawodowej i egzystencjalnej.
 
Physics opportunities with the Advanced Gamma Tracking Array: AGATA

AGATA is a high-resolution γ-ray spectrometer, solely built from highly segmented high-purity Ge detectors, capable of measuring γ rays from a few tens of keV to beyond 10 MeV, with unprecedented efficiency, excellent position resolution for individual γ-ray interactions, and very high count-rate capability. As a travelling detector AGATA will be employed at all major current and near-future European research facilities delivering stable and radioactive ion beams

No full textIn a globalising world, knowledge of language for specific purposes (LSP) opens up worldwide career opportunities. Do those teaching LSP at Polish universities have a status relevant to the importance of what they teach? How do they see their role and what shapes it? The author of Teaching and Learning in Postmodernity is interested both in how cultural shifts affect the teaching-to-learn paradigm and how teachers of English for specific purposes (ESP) respond to such challenges. The research has identified certain new, disturbing issues.The monograph is part of the socio-pedagogical directions of pedeutological research carried out in the qualitative paradigm. The aim of the study was to describe the professional role of academic English for Specific Purposes (ESP) teachers in the context of postmodernity. The author was interested both in how the ongoing cultural changes shift the teaching paradigm towards learning and in how academic ESP teachers respond to such challenges, as well as what problems and limitations may stand in their way of consciously transcending their professional role. In her research, the author used the narrative interview method, and the analysis of the conducted interviews allowed her to address the above research problems. The work consists of five main chapters: a methodological chapter, two theoretical chapters and two empirical chapters, as well as an introduction, conclusions and a post scriptum chapter. In the methodological chapter, the author presents the ontological and epistemological assumptions of the qualitative paradigm, under which the research is carried out, as well as the research method. In the second chapter, the author shows the cultural and social context of postmodernity and the individual immersed in it. The third chapter focuses on the social and professional roles of teachers and presents a glottodidactic perspective on ESP teachers. In the empirical part, in the fourth chapter, the author presents the knowledge of the study participants about their world and themselves using the holistic model of learning in the working life by Knud Illeris and his associates, as well as about “self- -world” relations using the author’s original interpretation of the professional role prescription. In the next empirical chapter (fifth chapter), the author focuses on a critical analysis, which revealed the oppression to which the participants of the study were subjected. The last part of the work is a ”post scriptum” chapter, showing the autoethnographic roots of the research

As an inspiration, the author presents the forms of support that have been developed on the basis of social work, activism and theatre pedagogy. The article is based on in-depth interviews with practitioners of engaging theatre who represent various theatre environments and professions, and on the knowledge Siwiak gained through her own theatre practices as part of the research-based practice methodology (the author is also a performance arts curator)

No full textThe author reflects on theoretical dilemmas and on her subjective experiences in doing a medical anthropological study that aims to be scientifically valid, practically applied, and socio-politically engaged.
To this purpose, the article discusses data collected in two Italian cities: Bari (southern Italy) in 2009, and Casale Monferrato (northern Italy), in 2012. Both the contexts have been affected by social and environmental disasters related to the presence of two asbestos-cement plants, active until the end of the 1980s: the Fibronit and the Eternit factories, respectively.
First, historical and social contextualization of legislation and epidemiological data about asbestos manufacturing are briefly provided, both for the national and the international settings, in order to better situate the actions of socio-political engagement undertaken by the victims organised into local anti-asbestos social movements whose goals and practices have national and international resonance.
Second, the author offers a general overview of asbestos’ characteristics as a raw material, and of the political-economic dynamics promoting its massive industrial use, despite the fact that biomedical studies have recognised asbestos fibres as cancer causing factors as far back as the 1960s.
Third, the author refers to anthropological and sociological literatures on risk perception and on the disaster’s processes in order to better understand the peculiarities of the asbestos-related disasters.
Lastly, the anthropologist’s engagement with the investigated issues is discussed, and a parallelism between contamination and engagement is offered by looking at a process in which the scientist and the research partners collaborate to promote new knowledge and socio-political changes

Full text linkMonografia wpisuje się w socjologiczno-pedagogiczne kierunki badań pedeutologicznych realizowanych w paradygmacie jakościowym. Celem badań było opisanie roli zawodowej nauczycieli i nauczycielek akademickich języka angielskiego specjalistycznego w kontekście ponowoczesności. Autorkę interesował zarówno sposób, w jaki zachodzące zmiany kulturowe zmieniają paradygmat nauczania na rzecz uczenia się, jak i to, jak na takie wyzwania odpowiadają nauczyciele(ki) języka angielskiego specjalistycznego oraz jakie problemy i ograniczenia mogą stanąć na drodze ku świadomemu przekraczaniu ich roli zawodowej. W badaniach posłużono się metodą wywiadu narracyjnego, a analiza przeprowadzonych wywiadów pozwoliła na odpowiedź na powyższe cele badawcze. Praca składa się z pięciu rozdziałów głównych: metodologicznego, dwóch rozdziałów teoretycznych, dwóch rozdziałów empirycznych, wstępu i zakończenia oraz rozdziału Post scriptum – osobistego odniesienia do prezentowanych badań. W rozdziale metodologicznym Autorka przedstawiła ontologiczne i epistemologiczne założenia paradygmatu jakościowego, w którym realizowane są badania, oraz samą metodę badawczą. W rozdziale drugim zaprezentowała kontekst kulturowo-społeczny ponowoczesności oraz zanurzoną w nim jednostkę. Trzeci rozdział koncentruje się na rolach społecznych i zawodowych oraz prezentuje glottodydaktyczne spojrzenie na nauczycieli(ki) języka obcego specjalistycznego. W części empirycznej, w czwartym rozdziale, Autorka przedstawiła wiedzę uczestniczek badania o ich świecie i o nich samych, wykorzystując do tego holistyczny model uczenia się w życiu zawodowym autorstwa Knuda Illerisa i jego współpracowników (2011) oraz opisując relacje ‘Ja–świat’ w oparciu o autorskie ujęcie przepisu roli zawodowej. W kolejnym (piątym) rozdziale empirycznym zajęto się analizą krytyczną, która uwidoczniła zjawisko opresji, której poddane były uczestniczki badania. Ostatnią częścią pracy jest rozdział zatytułowany Post scriptum, ukazujący autoetnograficzne zakorzenienie badań.Publikacja została wydana przy wsparciu finansowym Komisji Europejskiej w ramach programu Erasmus+

Crime in the art market - anti-crime measures

Streszczenie
Celem pracy jest przedstawienie wybranych aspektów dotyczących przestępczości na rynku dzieł sztuki oraz możliwości ich przeciwdziałaniu. Autorka pracy wykorzystała metodę analityczną-prawną oraz przegląd piśmiennictwa. Ponieważ przestępczość na rynku dzieł sztuki integralnie łączy się z popytem na dobra kultury, kwestia ta została uwzględniona w niniejszej pracy. Przedstawiono jakie czynniki mają na to wpływ. Poruszono kwestię zabezpieczenia w muzeach powiatowych i miejskich. Wskazano w jaki sposób można przeciwdziałać omawianemu procederowi i oddziaływania współpracy międzynarodowej m.in. Narodowego Instytutu Dziedzictwa, Forów Prawnych Dziedzictwa Europejskiego.
Summary
The aim of the work is to present selected aspects of crime in the art market and the possibility of counteracting them. The author has used: the method of legal analysis and literature study. Crime in the art market is related to the cultural goods, the author shows what factors have influence to this. It was showed key role of The National Heritage Board of Poland, EU Heritage Legislation.
