    Pendidikan mempunyai peranan sangat penting dalam keseluruhan aspek kehidupan manusia. Hal ini disebabkan pendidikan berpengaruh langsung terhadap perkembangan seluruh aspek kepribadian manusia. Dengan pendidikan, kita tidak mengharapkan munculnya manusia-manusia yang lain dan asing terhadap masyarakatnya, tetapi manusia yang lebih bermutu, mengerti, dan mampu membangun masyarakatnya. Oleh karena itu, tujuan, isi, maupun proses pendidikan harus disesuaikan dengan kondisi, karakteristik, kekayaan dan perkembangan masyarakat tersebut. Olehnya itu terjadi perkembangan dalam bidang  pendidikan yakni bermunculan teori-teori baru. Hal ini sesuai dengan teori belajar aliran sibernetik yang dikembangkan oleh salah seorang ahli psikologi bernama Landa, dalam pendekatan yang disebut algoritmik dan heuristik. Proses berpikir algoritmik mengarah kepada proses berpikir linier, konvergen, lurus menuju hasil akhir. Adapun masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana proses berpikir algoritmik siswa Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Ambon Kelas X dalam menyelesaikankan soal pada pokok bahasan persamaan kuadrat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses berpikir algoritmik siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah dokumentasi awal dan guru sebagai sumber data awal untuk mengetahui tingkat kemampuan siswa, subjek penelitian terdiri dari 3 orang siswa yaitu S1 (siswa berkemampuan tinggi), S2 (siswa berkemampuan sedang), dan S3 (siswa berkemampuan rendah). Data yang dikumpulkan dalam penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan tahap-tahap berdasarkan pendapat Milles dan Huberman yaitu (reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan).Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa proses berpikir algoritmik siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal pada pokok bahasan persamaan kuadrat subjek penelitian S1 adalah linear, sistematis serta menuju hasil akhir dan menghasilkan jawaban yang benar, S2 dapat dikatakan linear dan konvergen tetapi karena terdapat sedikit kekeliruan dalam tahap penyelesesaiannya sehingga memerlukan refleksi ulang barulah memperoleh jawaban yang sistematis dan mendapatkan jawaban yang benar pula. Sedangkan S3 memiliki proses berpikir yang kurang algoritmik dimana terjadi kebuntuan dalam penyelesaian soal sehingga jawabannya kurang sistematis dan linear namun tetap menuju pada hasil akhir

    ABSTRAK ASRIA RATAU. “Pengaruh Pendekatan Pembelajaran Terhadap Kemampuan Penalaran Dan Komunikasi Matematika Siswa SMP Negeri Kecamatan Leihitu Kabupaten Maluku Tengah”. (Dibimbing oleh Baso Intang Sappailedan Awi Dassa) Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen semu yang bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui aktivitas dan respons siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pendekatan open ended problem (2) mengetahui aktivitas dan respons siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pendekatan pemecahan masalah (3) mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan pembelajaran (open ended problem dan pemecahan masalah) terhadap kemampuan penalaran dan komunikasi matematika siswa SMP Negeri Kecamatan Leihitu Kabupaten Maluku Tengah. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP di Kecamatan Leihitu Kabupaten Maluku Tengah, sebanyak 6 sekolah yang berakreditasi B. Teknik pengambilan sampel adalah menggunakan sampel acak sederhana, dengan membuat nomor urut sekolah, selanjutnya dari sekolah yang terpilih tersebut ditentukan kelompok eksperimen 1 dan kelompok eksperimen 2 yang diajar dengan menggunakan pendekatan open ended problem dan pendekatan pemecahan masalah. Data yang dikumpulkan terdiri dari data hasil belajar siswa, data aktivitas siswa dalam pembelajaran, dan data respons siswa terhadap perangkat pembelajaran.Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa data aspek aktivitas siswa dengan menggunakan pendekatan open ended problem berada pada kategori baik, data aspek respons siswa berada pada kategori cenderung positif. Adapun data aspek aktivitas siswa dengan menggunakan pendekatan pemecahan masalah berada pada kategori baik, data aspek respons siswa berada pada kategori cenderung positif.Hasil analisis inferensial dengan menggunakan uji multivariate analisis of variance (MANOVA), menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan pembelajaran (open ended problem dan pemecahan masalah) memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan penalaran dan komunikasi matematika siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri Kecamatan Leihitu Kabupaten Maluku Tengah

    The study is a quasi–eksperimental research which aims at examining (1) students’ activities and responses on the learning process by using open-ended problem approach, (2) students’ activities and responses on the learning process by using problem-solving approach, (3) the infleunce of open-ended problem approach and problem-solving approach on mathematical reasoning and communicating skills of students at SMP Negeri in Leihitu subdistrict of Central Maluku district. The population of the study was class VIII students in 6 public junior high schools (SMPN) with acreditation B in Leihitu subdistrict of Central Maluku district. Samples were selected by employing simple random sampling with schools serial number; then, from the choses school, it was determined the experimental class 1 and experimental class 2 taught by using open-ended problem approach and problem-solving approach. The collecting data consisted of students’ study result, students’ learning activities data, and students responses’ data on the learning instruments. The results of the study show that the students’ activities using open-ended problem approach is in good category and students responses’ is in fairly positiv category. Then, the students’ activities using problem-solving approach is in good category and students’ responses is in fairly positive category. The result of the inferensial analysis using multivariate analysis of variance test (MANOVA) shows that the learning approach (open ended problem and problem solving) gives significant impact on mathematical reasoning and commucating skills of class VIII students at SMP Negeri in Leihitu subdistrict of Central Maluku District.     Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
