    ANALYSIS OF AN INTERNAL MARKETING TOOL Case Company: Lexus Europe

    Marketing is a popular area of research and analysis. The reason is that most of the time marketing is considered as the main channel of communication between the customer and the company. However, this is not the only approach that is possible nowadays. The motivation for marketing teams to design advanced campaigns is due to factors such as increasing profits and wavering customer loyalty. Additionally, these campaigns inspire to find an out-of-the-box strategy that would be profitable in the long-term. Finally, these campaigns can be divided into external and internal marketing approaches both of which have been detailed in this study. The main purpose of this study was to evaluate and study one of the internal marketing tools at Lexus Europe. The selected tool is a training program for all the Lexus staff which has not yet been implemented. Also, improvements and optimisations to the training program at Lexus Europe have been described. This work has been conducted using complementary inductive and deductive approaches. The outcome of deductive research has helped to reveal the problem, while inductive research has been instrumental in finding the solution. In conclusion, the author suggests on employing an implementation plan to enhance the existing training program at Lexus Europe as the internal marketing tool. This idea was borrowed from analysis of the training program at Lexus Ukraine and adapted to the needs of Lexus Europe

    The purpose of this paper is to set out the Enron’s demise into the perspective of Corporate and Global Governance. To accomplish this target, the incremental cash flow model is expanded to give room for governance issues, while a functional introduction to information sets is developed, including bounded rationality, asymmetric information, opportunistic behavior, transaction costs and agency problems. Then, corporate governance is linked to globalization by means of some recent approaches that go beyond a narrow economic mindset to encompass a far-reaching dynamics. Taking advantage of such background, the Enron’s story is tracked down over a span of fifteen years since its starting day to its bankruptcy filing. Leading events are explained from corporate and global governance viewpoints, while an in-depth analysis is worked out on Enron’s complex game of deception and breach of contracts: the outrageous affiliated limited partnerships, the lavish pay package to its executives, the involvement with global governance through the Indian affair and the Taliban connection. It is for the incremental cash flow model to explain malfeasance with cash flows from assets, and how cash flows to creditors were actually contrived. Furthermore, to highlight how cash flows were swindled from stockholders and, finally, how Enron made wheeling and dealing with cash flows on behalf of its managers.corporate governance, global governance, incremental cash flow model, globalization, information sets, good practices.

    Modeling Dopaminergic Loss in the Zebrafish Olfactory System

    Zebrafish provide an ideal model to study neurodegenerative diseases and regenerative processes as they present neurogenesis and a high degree of neuroplasticity throughout their lifespan. It has been suggested that dopamine has an important role in regulating olfaction. We aimed to study the structural and functional effects of dopaminergic loss in the olfactory system. We injected 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) int the ventricular zone of adult zebrafish at the interphase between the olfactory bulbs and the telencephalon to target dopaminergic neurons in the olfactory bulb.Then, we assessed dopaminergic neural loss, markers of inflammation, morphological changes of olfactory axons, and synaptic connections. Olfactory function was evaluated using behavioral assays. 6OHDA injections cause an increase in apoptosis (TUNEL) in the olfactory bulb as well as a significant loss of dopaminergic neurons (TH) at 1- and 3- days post injection (dpi), confirming the success of our approach. Morphological changes in the olfactory glomeruli were discovered by differences in the distribution of the presynaptic marker, SV2. Astroglial activation (GFAP) and cell proliferation (PCNA) were also increased. Furthermore, we found disturbances in olfactory-mediated behavior that suggest olfactory functional alterations. Further studies will explore the relationship between olfactory function, dopaminergic neurons, and the adverse effects of 6-OHDA

    Töö alguses uuriti, milline õppemeetod on kõige sobivam ja tõhusam andmaks edasi neid teadmisi, mida antud laborijuhendiga soovitakse anda. Üks olulisemaid tegureid õpitava omandamisel on aktiivne osalemine õppeprotsessis, seega on kõige tulemuslikum kasutada õppijat aktiveerivat õppemeetodit. Üheks selliseks meetodiks on iseseisev töö. Kuna koolil on ainult üks selline käigukast, siis valiti õppemeetodiks iseseisev grupitöö. Seejärel käis autor kooli poolt antud hübriidkäigukasti L310 lahti võtmas. Lahtivõtmise käigus saadi teada käigukasti lahti võtmise järjekord ning uuriti lähemalt millised võiks olla võimalikud tegevused ja ülesanded laborijuhendis. Töö teises osas uuriti lähemalt, millise sõiduki pealt antud hübriidkäigukast pärineb. Et käigukasti paremini mõista otsiti välja nii sõiduki kui käigukasti kohta põhiandmed. Käesolev käigukast pärineb sõiduautolt Lexus LS 500h, mis on Lexuse luksussedaan. See hübriidkäigukast töötab koos 3.5 liitrise otsepritsega sisepõlemismootoriga. Selles käigukastis kasutatakse Lexuse uut kuuenda põlvkonna multi stage hybrid süsteemi, mis erineb varasemate Lexuse hübriidkäigukastidest sellega, et sellele on lisatud uus multi stage mehhanism. Uut süsteemi kasutades saavutati antud käigukastis kümme käiku. Sellele järgnevalt kirjeldati hammasülekandeid. Kuna töös keskenduti jõuülekande kinemaatilistele põhimõtetele, siis kirjeldati erinevaid hammasrattaid ja hammasülekandeid. Sealhulgas ka planetaarülekannet, mis oli eriti tähtis kuna planetaarülekanded kannavad käesolevas käigukastis suurt rolli. Kuna planetaarülekanded kannavad selles hübriidkäigukastis suurt rolli, siis uuriti nende tööpõhimõtet ja mida on võimalik nendega saavutada. Töö neljandas osas uuriti põhjalikumalt Toyota hübriidi tööpõhimõtet ja Lexuse hübriidkäigukasti L310 toimimist. Selles osas kirjeldati power split mehhanismi ülesehitust, tööpõhimõtet ja tööd erinevates režiimides. Töö viimases osas keskenduti multi stage käiguvahetus mehhanismile ja sellele, kuidas see toimib. Viiendas osas räägiti millest multi stage mehhanism koosneb ja seletati kuidas selles mehhanismis saadakse neli erinevat käiku. Töö käigus koostas töö autor küsimusi, millest hiljem pandi kokku laborijuhend, mida tudengid saavad laboritunni käigus käigukasti uurimiseks ja sellest aru saamiseks kasutada (Lisa 1). Küsimusi loodi iga töös uuritud erinevate osade kohta. Laborijuhendile vastates peavad õpilased toetuma varasemalt õpitule, kasutama internetti ja käigukasti osandades koguma informatsiooni.The headline of the following thesis translated into English is Development of studying materials about rotational kinematics of Lexus LS500h gearbox. At the beginning of the research was studied about which learning method is the most suitable and efficient to educate students regarding this research. One of the most important factors to understand the subject is to actively take part in the practical learning process, so the most effective method for this is to involve the student in the practical learning lesson. Since the school is having only one of these gearboxes, then the preferred method was chosen to be group work. Then the author of the thesis went to disassemble the hybrid gearbox L310 in the school's garage. In the disassembling process, he learned how to properly disassemble the gearbox (which parts come off first) and was closely examined which might be the proper questions for the students to learn about the workflow of the gearbox. In the second part of the thesis, there was examined from which car the hybrid gearbox origins from. To understand the gearbox better, there is written the main information about the gearbox and also the car itself. This gearbox origin from the Lexus LS500h, which is Lexus's luxury sedan. This gearbox is connected to the 3,5-litre gasoline engine. In this gearbox, there is a 6th generation multistage hybrid system, which differs from the previous Lexus's hybrid gearboxes because it has a multistage mechanism. When using the new system, they managed to achieve 10 gears. In the third part of the thesis, there is the description of the gear transmission, because in the thesis overall there is hard focus on the basics of kinematics. There is described different cogs and gear transmission types. A very important part was understanding the planetary gear system. Because of the importance of the planetary gear system, then there was described the basics of the system and what are the possible options you might achieve using the planetary gear system. In the fourth part of the thesis, there was a more detailed focus on the Toyota Hybrid working principle and operation of Lexus's hybrid gearbox L310. In this part, there was also described the construction of the power split mechanism, working principles and workflow in different modes. In the last part of the job, there was a more detailed focus on the multi-stage shift device and how it works. There was also described the different parts of the multi-stage system and how in that mechanism there is possible to achieve four different gears. During the work, the author composed questions about the subjects of this thesis and combined laboratory instruction for the students to learn about the gearbox of Lexus LS500h and specifically about the multi-stage and power split mechanism. Questions were composed about each part of the thesis. To get the answers to the questions, students need to rely on previously learned knowledge, internet and get information by disassembling the gearbox itsel

    Does Luxury Brand Perception Matter In Purchase Intention? A Comparison Between A Japanese Brand And A German Brand

    The research regarding luxury products in developed economies can be found in many literatures, nevertheless similar research in developing economies are still limited. Since this topic is still underexplored, particularly in developing economies, the purpose of this study is to investigate Indonesian consumers’ perception of two different luxury brands that comes from different countries, namely BMW (Germany) and Lexus (Japan). Data was collected from diverse Indonesian BMW and Lexus owners. The consumers’ general brand perception and perceived values of luxury car are examined in this study. Data analysis used structural equation modeling (SEM). Results indicated that Indonesian consumers considered Japanese luxury car’s (Lexus) conspicuous value higher than German luxury car (BMW). Nevertheless, BMW was considered to have higher value in all of the rest of the aspects studied such as quality value, social value, and hedonic value. Even though so, the result of the study finds that Lexus owners have a higher purchase intention than BMW owners. The research concludes that luxury brand perception is highly affecting consumers’ purchase intention in this luxury automotive industry.Keywords: Luxury Product, Demographic Factors, Country of Origin, Luxury Brand Perception, and Purchase Intention

Maģistra darba mērķis ir izpētīt SIA „Amserv Motors” mārketinga komunikācijas, izvērtējot to priekšrocības un trūkumus, lai sniegtu priekšlikumus to pilnveidošanas iespējām. Darba pirmajā nodaļā raksturoti mārketinga komunikāciju veidi, to galvenās priekšrocības un trūkumi. Otrajā nodaļā autore apskata SIA „Amserv Motors” mārketinga darbību, kas ietver automašīnu tirdzniecības nozares novērtējumu, uzņēmuma darbības un noieta politikas raksturojumu. Trešajā nodaļā tika izvērtēts SIA „Amserv Motors” mārketinga komunikāciju veidu nozīmīgums. Ceturtajā nodaļā tika apkopoti aptaujas rezultāti par SIA „Amserv Motors” mārketinga komunikācijām un veikts to novērtējums.     Antud lõputöö käigus tegi autor endale selgeks mootori õppestendi kui õppevahendi loomise põhimõtted omandades teadmised ohutusnõuetest ja kriteeriumitest. Praktiliste tööde käigus valmis uuendatud ja läbimõeldud õppestendi raami projektsioon, süsteemide paigutus ning väljanägemine. Uuendatud õppestend on mobiilne, väiksema kaaluga võrreldes eelmise versiooniga ning kompaktsem. Kõik õppetööks vajalikud komponendid on paremini jälgitavad ja lihtsasti ligipääsetavad. Mootori õppestendile projekteeriti uus raam alumiiniumprofiilidest tagamaks väiksema kaalu, väiksemad mõõtmed ning tänu materjali pinna töötlusele viisaka välimuse. Õppestendile projekteeriti uus värvitud vineerist vaadeldav paneel mis asub kasutaja silmade kõrgusel ning toob esile elektrilised komponendid ning infot kuvavad elemendid. Vaadeldav paneel tehti eesmärgiga kiireks info kuvamiseks. Lisaks projekteeriti uus alumiiniumist juhtpaneel lihtsustamaks ja mugavdamaks õppestendi kasutust. Projektist eemaldati mootori koormamismehhanism millel puudus eesmärk uuendatud õppestendil ning aitas õppestendi kompaktsemaks muuta ning vähendada kaalu. Mootori toetus süsteemidele näiteks jahutus-, väljalaske ning toitesüsteem projekteeriti uued asukohad, kinnitused ning vajadusel erilahendused süsteemide kasutuseks. Projekteeriti täiesti uus kütusepaak tekitamaks võimalus kasutada originaal kütusepumba kandurit toitesüsteemi tööks. Võimalikult palju tahetakse ära kasutada juba olemasolevaid elemente mis aitab kaasa loodusõbralikule suhtumisele ning kulude kokku hoiule näiteks originaal kütusesüsteemi torud ning juba olemasolevad jahutussüsteemi lõdvikud. Lõputöö eesmärkideks seatud õppestendi raami uuendamine ja selle komponentide paigutus saavutati täielikult. Õppestendi edasi arendamiseks on vaja hankida materjalid raami ja komponentide koostamiseks. Kui uus õppestend on valmistatud tuleb arendada välja analoog mõõte kellade lisamine vaadeldavale paneelile, luua uued laboritööd ja kasutusjuhend ning analüüsida vajadust raamile katte seinade lisamise mõistlikkusest.During the thesis, the author made clear to him the principles of the engine trainer stand and creating one and acquired knowledge of the safety requirements and criteria to create a trainer stand. During practical work the author designed a new and improved frame for the trainer stand as well as creating new placements for the trainer stand systems and improving the visuals of the stand. The new engine trainer stand is mobile, lighter weight and more compact compared to the previous version. All the needed components of the trainer stand are more visible and easier to access. A new frame was designed from aluminium profiles to grant lighter weight, smaller dimensions and a better visual appearance. New visual panel was designed for the trainer stand that is in parallel to the user´s eyesight and brings forth the electrical components and elements that display information. The purpose for the visual panel creation is to display information to the user. A new aluminium control panel was also designed to further simplify and better the usage of the trainer stand. The old engine loading system was removed because it served no purpose and by doing so the author was able to further lighten and compact the stand. New placements and fastening solutions were designed for the cooling, exhaust and fuel system. A completely new fuel tank was also designed to incorporate the stock fuel pump hanger to use the original system. The author tried to use as much of the original components as possible, such as the original fuel lines and cooling hoses, to limit the cost and be more environmentally friendly. The goals for the thesis of creating a new frame and component placement was achieved completely. To further improve the educational stand the material for the frame and its components needs to be acquired. When the new trainer stand is put together a set of new laboratory works for students need to be created along with user´s manual. Also, a study has to be conducted to see if the new stand needs some covering walls
