A STUDY ON STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN READING COMPREHENSION OF RECOUNT TEXT AT SMPN 8 PEKANBARU
No full textThis study aimed to assess the reading comprehension skills of eighth-grade students in understanding recount texts at SMPN 8 Pekanbaru. Using a quantitative method, data were collected through a multiple-choice test administered to 32 purposively selected students from class 8H. The analysis focused on six indicators: finding factual information, main ideas, references, word meanings, inferences, and language features. Results showed an average score of 70, indicating a good level of comprehension. Students performed best in identifying main ideas (81%), followed by references (79%), and both factual information and inferences (75%). Lower scores were seen in recognizing language features (64.37%) and understanding word meanings (49%). These findings provide insight into students’ strengths and challenges in reading comprehension of recount texts
The Effect of Hello English Application on Speaking Ability

Disinterest and low participation of students in the learning process, encourage teachers to use technology as a medium to increase students' enthusiasm for learning English, especially speaking. This research aims to determine whether Hello English application had a significant impact on speaking ability. Pre-experimental research was employed to conduct this research. The sample of this research consisted of 35 students from class XI MIA 1 at SMAN 3 Padang Sidimpuan. The pretest is used to determine the students' initial speaking ability. The posttest was conducted after the treatment was applied in four meetings utilizing Hello English application as a supporting medium in learning English. The t-test formula was used to analyze the collected data. Based on the findings of this research, the t-count value was 26.727, and the t-table value was 2.032. It denotes the alternative hypothesis (Ha) regarding there is a significant effect of Hello English application on the speaking ability of eleventh-grade students at SMAN 3 Padang Sidimpuan is accepted
The Effect of Project-Based Learning on Improving Students' Speaking Ability on Procedure Text
No full textThis study focuses on particular teaching strategies that are thought to enhance students' speaking abilities. Project-Based Learning is a suitable and relevant teaching approach for all educational levels. Its main concept is to link students' experiences with their school environment and encourage them to gain new knowledge. The aim of this study is to determine whether Project-Based Learning is an effective teaching method for improving students' speaking abilities, specifically on procedure text. The subject of this study was students in class x c of SMA Pembangunan in Bagan Batu. This study was pre-experimental research by using one group pretest-posttest design. Furthermore, the data was collected through speaking test. The finding showed that mean score in pretest was 54.76 while in posttest was 73.43. It means that there was a significant improvement on the students’ speaking ability on procedure text. The aspects which are improved including students’ vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, fluency, and comprehension. To conclude, Project-Based Learning helps students to develop their self-confidence in speaking English and it can make teaching speaking become more interesting

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
