    PENERAPAN PENDEKATAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA BERDASARKAN PERSPEKTIF KONTRUKTIVIS

    Penelitian-penelitian yang membandingkan pendekatan kontruktivisme dan pendekatan tradisional dalam pengajaran matematika seringkali sulit diinterpretasikan. Hal ini disebabkan karena metode-metode kontruktivis biasanya dimaksudkan untuk menghasilkan hasil belajar yang secara kualitatif berbeda dengan apa yang dihasilkan oleh metode-metode tradisional. Selain itu kebanyakan penelitian tentang metode-metode kontruktivis bersifat deskriptif dari pada komparartif. Salah satu pendekatan pembelajaran yang berbasis kontruktivisme yang dapat dikembangkan dalam proses belajar mengajar matematika adalah pendekatan pemecahaman masalah. Tujuan penulisan ini adalah membahas suatu model pendekatan pembelajaran matematika yang berbasis kontruktivisme yang tersimpul dalam beberapa masalah yaitu; bagaiamana pandangan kontruktovisem dalam pembelajaran, Bagaimana model pendekatan pemecahamn masalah, sera bagaimana penerapan pendekatan pemecahan masalah dalam pembelajaran matematika. Untuk lebih meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dalam matematika maka pendekatan pemecahan masalah yang didasarkan pada pandangan kontruktivisme merupakan salah satu alternatif yang dapat dilakukan guru dalam pembelajaran matematika. Untuk menerapkan pendekatan pemecahan masalah dalam pembelajaran matematika guru harus lebih berhati-hati dan lihai dalam memilih masalah yang diberikan sebagai panduan pembelajaran.     In the era of the COVID-19 pandemic, online learning has become the main alternative to the learning system taken by schools. The implementation of the online system certainly affects teachers\u27 performance as the frontline in the success of a learning process. In this case, at least the teacher\u27s performance has been directly or indirectly influenced by the learning system that is being carried out. This study aimed to describe and analyze the performance of teachers’ competencies during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study relied on a quantitative descriptive method, and the data were taken from the results of a questionnaire distributed to 89 teachers. The research instrument used questionnaires and interviews, which had previously been tested for validity and reliability. Furthermore, the results of the questionnaires were analyzed based on theories related to teacher performance and theories related to teacher competency development. The result showed that the teachers’ performances with the online learning system during the COVID-19 pandemic were varied and greatly influenced by the competence of the previous teacher. Based on these results, it could be concluded that teachers with high competence had higher performance than teachers with low competence in online learning. Likewise, there was an interaction between the ability of teacher competence and teacher performance in online mathematics learning. Further, the average performance of mathematics teachers in online learning was lower than the performance of teachers who use ordinary learning

    Pengaruh Penggunaan Model Pembelajaran Problem Solving Terhadap Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika Pada Materi Bentuk Aljabar Di SMP Negeri 14 Gorontalo

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Solving terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika pada materi bentuk aljabar di SMP Negeri 14 Gorontalo. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen menggunakan post-tes only control group design yang melibatkan dua kelas sebagai sampel penelitian yang dipilih menggunakan teknik simple random sampling dengaan jumlah siswa pada kelas eksperimen terdiri dari 30 siswa dan pada kelas kontrol terdiri dari 27 siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa pada kelas yang diterapkan model pembelajaran Problem Solving lebih tinggi daripada kelas yang diterapkan model pembelajaran langsung. Hal ini di tunjukan dengan nilai rata-rata kemmapuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa yang diterapkan model Problem Solving yakni 62,17 sedangkan nilai rata-rata kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siwa yang diterapkan model pembelajaran langsung yakni sebesar 55,33. Kemudian hasil analisis inferensial melalui uji t dua sampel didapat bahwa  ditolak dan  diterima karena memenuhi kriteria pengujian

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Developing Students\u27 Mathematical Communication Skill in Junior High School with Various Level of Mathematics Achievement through Generative Learning Model

    Mathematical communication skill was the missing piece of the mathematics education failure puzzle for centuries despite its central role in learning activities. Built on top of other process skills, the skill was the tool to construct a more comprehensive conceptual understanding by learning math from different perspectives, sharpening other cognitive skills, and providing important feedback about students\u27 understanding. This study observed how the students\u27 mathematical communication skill was correlated with the application of the generative learning model and how this correlation was influenced by various level of the school\u27s academic achievement in mathematics. It employed a fractional 2x2-factorial design, careful non-probability sampling combined with simple random sampling to pick 171 students, and a validated and reliable scoring system to measure communication skills. Based on the results, the students\u27 mathematical communication skill significantly correlates with the application of the generative learning model. The use of factorial design revealed that this correlation was more determined by applying the generative learning model, not by the level of schools\u27 or students\u27 mathematics achievement. Teachers should be more optimistic about using generative learning models to improve mathematical communication skills, even in classes with lower mathematics achievement levels

    Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    The Effectiveness of Heuristic Vee Model to Improve Students’ Mathematical Problem Solving Skills

    Mathematical problem solving ability is a key component of students’ cognitive development, enabling them to understand, analyze, and apply mathematical concepts in various real-life situations. Despite its importance, many students struggle with problem-solving due to teacher-centered approaches and the lack of interactive, concept-oriented instructional models. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Heuristic Vee learning model in improving students’ mathematical problem-solving skills, particularly in the topic of two-dimensional shapes. The research employed a quasi-experimental method using a Non-Equivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The participants were two seventh-grade classes at MTs Negeri 1 Kota Gorontalo, selected through purposive sampling based on class equivalence and teacher recommendations. The experimental group received instruction using the Heuristic Vee model, which involved problem exploration, concept mapping, and guided reflection, while the control group was taught through the direct instruction method. Data were collected through a post-test consisting of essay questions based on Polya’s four problem-solving stages. All instruments were validated by experts and tested for reliability. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, normality and homogeneity tests, independent t-tests, and effect size measurement. The results showed that the experimental group achieved a higher mean post-test score (49.83) than the control group (31.70), with a significant t-value of 3.458 > 2.002 at the 5% significance level. The effect size (Cohen’s d = 0.89) was categorized as high. These findings indicate that the Heuristic Vee model significantly enhances students’ mathematical problem-solving skills and serves as an effective strategy for promoting student-centered and meaningful mathematics learning

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     The Effect of Apparatus Competence on Public Service Quality of Financial Agency in Gorontalo District

    This research aim is to examine the effect of apparatus competence on public service quality of Financial Agency in Gorontalo District. It uses explanatory survey method with quantitative approach to analyze the effect of apparatus competence as independent latent construct (exogenous) on public service quality of financial agency as latent construct (endogen). The population of 100 respondents spread in offices of Gorontalo District Financial Agency and some Local Apparatus Work Unit (LAWU), and all population become samples. The data is analyzed by Partial Least Square (PLS) with SmartPLS. The research results show that the effect of apparatus competence on public service quality of financial agency has path coefficient of 0.521 (52.1%) with t value of 7.919. This value is greater than t table (1.96). Therefore, the apparatus competence has a direct positive and significant effect on Public Service Quality of financial agency in Gorontalo District. It can be said that apparatus competence increase the Public Service Quality of financial agency in Gorontalo District. Keywords: apparatus Competence, Public Service Quality
