Harnessing high altitude solar power
As an intermediate solution between Glaser's satellite solar power (SSP) and ground-based photovoltaic (PV) panels, this paper examines the collection of solar energy using a high-altitude aerostatic platform. A procedure to calculate the irradiance in the medium/high troposphere, based on experimental data, is described. The results show that here a PV system could collect about four to six times the energy collected by a typical U.K.-based ground installation, and between one-third and half of the total energy the same system would collect if supported by a geostationary satellite (SSP). The concept of the aerostat for solar power generation is then briefly described together with the equations that link its main engineering parameters/variables. A preliminary sizing of a facility stationed at 6 km altitude and its costing, based on realistic values of the input engineering parameters, is then presented
INTEGRATION OF PENAL POLICY AND SOCIAL POLICY IN HANDLING CRIMINAL ACTS OF MURDER ACCOMPANIED BY CHILD RAPE IN SOUTH SUMATRA
This study examines the implementation of law enforcement against perpetrators of murder accompanied by child rape in the jurisdiction of the South Sumatra Regional Police, using a criminological approach. The main focus is on evaluating the effectiveness of law enforcement, identifying structural and cultural barriers, and applying criminological theories such as Strain, Differential Association, and Routine Activity. The methodology used is an empirical juridical approach with qualitative methods. The findings show that the law enforcement process has been in accordance with positive law provisions, but still faces challenges in the form of limited human resources, lack of coordination between institutions, and the influence of socio-cultural factors. Criminological analysis reveals that these crimes are triggered by social pressure, weak moral control, and open opportunities for crime due to minimal supervision. Therefore, integration between criminal law and social policies is needed in formulating law enforcement strategies for serious crimes involving children as victimsThis study examines the implementation of law enforcement against perpetrators of murder accompanied by child rape in the jurisdiction of the South Sumatra Regional Police, using a criminological approach. REDI for Binned Data: A Random Empirical Distribution Imputation Method for Estimating Continuous Incomes
Researchers often need to work with categorical income data. The typical nonparametric (including midpoint) and parametric estimation methods used to estimate summary statistics both have advantages, but they carry assumptions that cause them to deviate in important ways from real-world income distributions. The method introduced here, random empirical distribution imputation (REDI), imputes discrete observations using binned income data, while also calculating summary statistics. REDI achieves this through random cold-deck imputation from a real-world reference data set (demonstrated here using the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement). This method can be used to reconcile bins between data sets or across years and handle top incomes. REDI has other advantages for computing values of an income distribution that is nonparametric, bin consistent, area and variance preserving, continuous, and computationally fast. The author provides proof of concept using two years of the American Community Survey. The method is available as the redi command for Stata
Perlindungan Hukum terhadap Pangan Lokal dalam Menjalin Kemitraan dengan Toko Modern Kota Palembang
As a tropical country, Indonesia is rich in biological resources that have the potential to develop a variety of unique and distinctive foods, so that through this food diversity condition, it certainly has the potential for national food security. Food security is a condition for fulfilling household food needs, not only in large enough quantities but must be safe, high quality, nutritious, and diverse, this is stated in the Food Law Number 7 of 1996. The purpose of this study is to determine product protection local food in partnership with modern shops in Palembang City. This type of research is a descriptive analysis with an empirical juridical approach. The main data source of this research is literature study, namely by observing, studying, reading legal materials and decisions and documents related to this research. The results of the study suggest that the Regional Regulation of Palembang City Number 25 of 20011 concerning the Establishment of Shopping Centers and Modern Markets which in this regional regulation obliges every entrepreneur who wants to establish a shopping center and modern market in the city of Palembang must provide space for local products including local food. areas to be sold in shopping centers and modern markets in the city of Palembang with the principle of mutual benefit, clearness, fairness and transparency, provided that they meet the standards set

Investigation of the RESURF Dielectric Inserted (REDI) LDMOS as a novel Silicon-based RF Power Device
In this paper, a novel power device named as RESURF Dielectric Inserted (REDI) LDMOS is put forward. It is fully compatible with standard CMOS technology, which can sharply reduce the cost. In this novel REDI LDMOS, a RESURF structure and a dielectric region are inserted at the suitable position of the drift region to reconstruct the electric field and the electric potential distributions of the channel region and the drift region, which can effectively reduce the peak electric field and increase the breakdown voltage. The impacts of key device parameters on REDI LDMOS behaviors are comprehensively studied with device simulation tools. The structural parameters are optimized to obtain acceptable high breakdown voltage (> 10V), excellent on-state behavior and high frequency performance (> 10GHz).http://gateway.webofknowledge.com/gateway/Gateway.cgi?GWVersion=2&SrcApp=PARTNER_APP&SrcAuth=LinksAMR&KeyUT=WOS:000265971000049&DestLinkType=FullRecord&DestApp=ALL_WOS&UsrCustomerID=8e1609b174ce4e31116a60747a720701Engineering, Electrical & ElectronicPhysics, AppliedEICPCI-S(ISTP)
PEMBERDAYAAN POLITIK MELALUI PEMBERDAYAAN EKONOMI: TIKAR PURUN IDENTITAS UPACARA ADAT MARGA BUAY PEMUKA BANGSA RAJA
Purun (Lepironia Articulata) is not just a mat, but can be meaningful as an economic and political force. As an economic power, because it will drive the people's economy, if the value or benefits can be diversified into other forms, which have a higher selling value. As a political force, because it is able to unite the community in a mutual cooperation activity where social interaction and communication of citizens occurs. Purun which is still needed as a tool for traditional ceremonies, is currently on the verge of extinction, because economically purun is considered unable to improve the community's economy. This community service program aims to increase the benefit value and selling value of purun from just mats, to products that are more in line with community needs and have high selling value. The community service method is a workshop, with the aim of transforming the knowledge and skills of the people of Dusun 2, Muncak Kabau, Buay Pemuka Bangsa Raja, Ogan Komering Ulu Timur, Sumatera Selatan. Workshops are assumed to be an effective method for transferring knowledge and skills.Key words: purun, economic empowerment, political empowermentABSTRAKPurun bukan sekedar tikar, tetapi dapat bermakna sebagai kekuatan ekonomi maupun politik.
Supporting visual quality assessment with machine learning
Objective metrics for visual quality assessment often base their reliability on the explicit modeling of the highly non-linear behavior of human perception; as a result, they may be complex and computationally expensive. Conversely, machine learning (ML) paradigms allow to tackle the quality assessment task from a different perspective, as the eventual goal is to mimic quality perception instead of designing an explicit model the human visual system. Several studies already proved the ability of ML-based approaches to address visual quality assessment; nevertheless, these paradigms are highly prone to overfitting, and their overall reliability may be questionable. In fact, a prerequisite for successfully using ML in modeling perceptual mechanisms is a profound understanding of the advantages and limitations that characterize learning machines. This paper illustrates and exemplifies the good practices to be followed.Intelligent SystemsElectrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Scienc
Child Perpetrators and Victims: Criminal Policy Approaches to Sexual Violence in Indonesia through Restorative Justice
Criminal law embodies the principle of ultimum remedium, which means that prosecution is considered a final measure in law enforcement. This principle does not seek to eliminate punishment for offenders but rather aims to protect society from crimes by using prosecution as a last resort. Offenses are not only committed by adults but also by minors. With the rapid advancement of information and telecommunication technology, sexually explicit content has become widely available through electronic media. As a result, many children mimic behaviors they have seen or heard about, particularly since they are often given access to electronic devices such as smartphones and computers with internet access. This ease of access sometimes occurs without sufficient parental supervision, exposing children to inappropriate content. Given this context, the author is motivated to conduct research titled Criminal Policy for Addressing Sexual Violence Committed by Minors Against Minors in Indonesia. This study aims to explore effective legal measures and policies to address and mitigate such incidents. The research employs a qualitative method grounded in the theory of sanctions and the theory of legal effectiveness. By utilizing a criminological approach, the study seeks to analyze crime patterns associated with sexual violence perpetrated by minors. This includes examining the socio-cultural factors that contribute to such behaviors and evaluating the current legal framework's effectiveness in addressing these issues. Through this research, the author hopes to shed light on the complexities of juvenile delinquency in the context of sexual violence and to propose informed policies that can better protect minors from both committing and becoming victims of such offenses. The findings are expected to contribute to the development of a more effective criminal justice system that balances punitive measures with rehabilitative approaches, ultimately aiming to create a safer and more just society for all
