No full textThe paper deals with the manner in which the Pole Jan Piotrowski, the author of the diary of Stefan Batory’s expedition to Pskov (1581-1582), depicted the Lithuanians participating in it. He rarely referred to stereotypical ideas about them, rather than this he described the reality that he observed and did not skew it towards the established beliefs.Although he valued his countrymen more, he could show courage and bravery of the Lithuanian soldiers, especially praising the raid of Krzysztof Radziwiłł’s troop. Somewhat more often, however, he reprimanded the Lithuanians: underestimated their number and combat quality, accused them of withdrawing too quickly from Pskov, emphasized their susceptibility to rumours. Among the citizens of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, he most disliked Chancellor Eustachy Wołłowicz, who hindered Piotrowski from fulfilling his mission and often refused access to the documents he possessed.The image we receive is inhomogeneous. It combines bright and dark sides of fellow Lithuanian citizens, which makes it seem very credible

No full textIn the first part of the text entitled Linguistic methods of expressing emotions. Tomasz Raczek about journalist, the author presents Tomasz Raczek’s writing, in particular his feature articles, where the columnist refers to the contemporary social life from the perspective of film and television criticism. In the subsequent parts of the text, the author describes selected components of the history of feature articles and presents some definitions of a feature article, and then focuses on the linguistic aspects of a subjective way of expressing the emotions and feelings accompanying the description of mass media personalities. The author pays a special attention to the techniques used by Raczek, for example putting things very close together in order to show a contrast, using metaphors and anglicisms to describe media personalities. In the last part of the text, the author juxtaposes the previously described techniques of the columnist, sums up the discussions on the linguistic methods of expressing emotions and feelings in Tomasz Raczek’s feature articles

Full text linkIn this interview, Tomasz Zarębski speaks with Allan Janik, co-author of Wittgenstein’s Vienna (1973, with Stephen Toulmin), on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the publication of this pathbreaking book. The conversation concerns the circumstances, motivations and reasons for his undertaking the work on the book, as well as its reception and place in Wittgenstein scholarship. A large part of the discussion refers to his perspective of Wittgenstein, Toulmin’s philosophical writings, and Janik’s own vision of philosophy. The interview took place in Innsbruck on 23rd and 25th August 2023

Abstract
Research on the computational breath analysis constitute important part of current challenges within the medical sciences, artificial intelligence, and biomedical engineering. Despite efforts of scientists and clinicians current results seem be not satisfying. Computational models of breath processes based e.g. on fuzzy logic may constitute another breakthrough in aforementioned area offering completing position to the current state of the art, both in the area of theoretical and experimental computational neuroscience, and clinical applications. Aim of the study was to find out whether is true if our new concept of intelligent breath analysis system can constitute another step toward better analysis and understanding of the aforementioned processes.

Ku nieśmiertelnej sławie – Tomasz Zamoyski w oracjach pogrzebowych
Full text linkTomasz Zamoyski died on the 8th of January 1638 (born on the 1st of April 1594). The text is a presentation and analysis of four, conceptual and funeral orations, which were written by: Stanisław Szałapski SJ, Bartłomiej Sylwiusz SJ, Marek Korona and Mikołaj Ławrynowicz. The first part of the article is a presentation of conceptual structure of orations and as well as analysis of titles and role of mottos from Bible. The second part of article describes Tomasz Zamoyski’s glowing effigy. Author uses rhetorical scheme laudatio personae, which was constructed from circumstances inner (family stock, ancestors, birth, education, attributes of body and soul, actions) and external (family, friends, descendants, time of his life, types of death). Orators built the glowing effigy of Tomasz Zamoyski, and his life presents a humanistic model of human and citizen
