In this work we present a proposal for the translation and study of Tertullian's text Ad Uxorem. This epistle to his wife written in the 3rd century serves as a documentary reference to understand how an author and thinker from that period understands the experience of marriage between Christians and its implications in their daily lives. This work has two main objectives: to make available the first translation 3 as far as we know 3 into Portuguese of Ad Uxorem, thus helping to enrich the always poor panorama of patristic texts available in the language of Camões; and understand, from this work and its author, how the first Christians «christianized» marriage, reconciling Roman traditions with the biblical vision

This work, from the author´s personal experience, tries to account for how the mass media -especially the TV- culturally shape citizens. This influence is evident through the popular announcements that make up and configure the city in a special way.
Three parts constitute the work: in the first is located, in a brief way, the question about
culture as a matter of several events (social, political, economic, geographical, etc.); in the second part does an approach to the context, the neighborhood in the city; in the third aplastic proposal is proposed from the previous points
Relationships between community structure of the intertidal macroinfauna and sandy beach characteristics along the Chilean coast
Eight sandy beaches were seasonally sampled along the coast of Chile, from ca. 21 to 42degrees S (about 3000 km) to study the relationship between community structure 2 of the intertidal macroinfauna and beach characteristics. Sediment samples (0.1 m(2), 30 cm deep) were collected (July-September 1998 and December 1998-January 1999) with plastic cylinders at 15 equally spaced levels along three replicated transects extending from above the drift line to the swash zone. The sediment was sieved through a 1 mm mesh and the organisms collected stored in 5% formalin. To define beach types, Dean's parameter (0) was calculated from wave heights and periods, and fall velocity of sand particles from the swash zone. Crustaceans (mainly peracarids) were the most diverse group with 14 species, followed by polychaetes with 5 species. The talitrid amphipod Orchestoidea tuberculata, the cirolanid isopods Excirolana braziliensis and E. hirsuticauda and the anomuran decapod Emerita analoga were the most widely distributed and common species. Regression analyses between species richness, abundance and biomass of the whole macroinfauna versus sediment characteristics, beach face slopes and morphodynamic beach states showed no significant relationships. Thus, macroinfaunal community characteristics did not increase linearly from lower intermediate to higher intermediate or dissipative beach states as had been found before in Chile or in other coasts. A comparative analysis with data from sandy beaches of other world regions showed that the number of species inhabiting Chilean sandy beaches was generally lower, whereas total population abundances were generally higher compared with values reported elsewhere.PT: J; CR: ANSELL AD, 1972, MAR BIOL, V17, P38 BRAZEIRO A, 1996, ESTUARINE COASTAL SH, V21, P587 BROWER JE, 1977, FIELD LAB METHODS GE CROKER RA, 1975, CAN J ZOOL, V53, P42 DEFEO O, 2000, MAR ECOL-PROG SER, V212, P159 DERUYCK AMC, 1992, CAH BIOL MAR, V33, P147 DUGAN JE, 1996, REV CHIL HIST NAT, V69, P579 DUGAN JE, 2000, 5 CAL ISL S, P339 EMERY KO, 1938, J SEDIMENT PETROL, V8, P105 EMERY KO, 1961, LIMNOL OCEANOGR, V6, P90 ETTER RJ, 1992, NATURE, V360, P576 FOLK R, 1980, PETROLOGY SEDIMENTAR FONSECA T, 1987, INVEST PESQ, V34, P33 GIBBS RJ, 1971, J SEDIMENT PETROL, V41, P7 GOMEZ J, 1999, MAR ECOL-PROG SER, V182, P209 JARAMILLO E, 1987, THESIS U NEW HAMPSHI JARAMILLO E, 1993, ESTUAR COAST SHELF S, V37, P615 JARAMILLO E, 1996, REV CHIL HIST NAT, V69, P641 JARAMILLO E, 1998, REV CHIL HIST NAT, V71, P459 JARAMILLO E, 2000, REV CHIL HIST NAT, V73, P771 JARAMILLO E, 2001, ECOL STU AN, V151, P61 MCLACHLAN A, 1990, J COASTAL RES, V6, P57 MCLACHLAN A, 1993, J COASTAL RES, V15, P27 MCLACHLAN A, 1995, OCEANOGR MAR BIOL, V33, P305 MCLACHLAN A, 1996, REV CHIL HIST NAT, V69, P451 MCLACHLAN A, 1998, J COASTAL CONSERVATI, V4, P181 SEWARDTHOMPSON B, 1973, SEDIMENTOLOGY, V11, P83 SHORT AD, 1983, SANDY BEACHES ECOSYS, P133 SOKAL RR, 1995, BIOMETRY PRINCIPLES; NR: 29; TC: 11; J9: MAR ECOL-P S Z N I; PG: 20; GA: 509UHSource type: Electronic(1

Anaerobic digestion (AD) has proved to be an interesting option to follow when it comes to livestock effluent management. Although this technology is well established, it is crucial to investigate different scenarios that demonstrate its suitability to motivate farmers to adopt new strategies for PS management. Previous research, based on a daily feeding regime and a 2-day starvation-induced period, investigated the impact of feast/famine cycles on the AD process. There was evidence of a positive link between AD performance and the starvation regime. From this assumption, new scenarios were designed combining different feeding frequencies: a) one daily feeding (F1) and six feedings per day (F6), b) two days of starvation with one feeding (S1) and with six feedings (S6). The operational parameters were settled in advance: organic loading rate (1.5±0.2 g VS/Lreactor.d), hydraulic retention time (15 days), and mesophilic conditions (37±1 ºC). The results obtained in this work indicate a significant improvement (P < 0.05) of 92% in specific methane production when comparing the trial F1 with F6. VS reduction remained constant in F1 and F6, but the starvation period (S1) led to an increase in VS reduction compared to both F1 (27%) and F6 (33%). The results obtained are in agreement with the previous work conducted by the authors. This study highlights how feeding frequency and starvation affect biogas production, assessing their effectiveness on biogas yield. This tool will give farmers a key decision factor to make an evidence-based decision and can work as a contingency planning strategy, aligning their PS management needs with AD versatility.publishersversionpublishe
Genetic risk and a primary role for cell-mediated immune mechanisms in multiple sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis is a common disease of the central nervous system in which the interplay between inflammatory and neurodegenerative processes typically results in intermittent neurological disturbance followed by progressive accumulation of disability. Epidemiological studies have shown that genetic factors are primarily responsible for the substantially increased frequency of the disease seen in the relatives of affected individuals, and systematic attempts to identify linkage in multiplex families have confirmed that variation within the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) exerts the greatest individual effect on risk. Modestly powered genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have enabled more than 20 additional risk loci to be identified and have shown that multiple variants exerting modest individual effects have a key role in disease susceptibility. Most of the genetic architecture underlying susceptibility to the disease remains to be defined and is anticipated to require the analysis of sample sizes that are beyond the numbers currently available to individual research groups. In a collaborative GWAS involving 9,772 cases of European descent collected by 23 research groups working in 15 different countries, we have replicated almost all of the previously suggested associations and identified at least a further 29 novel susceptibility loci. Within the MHC we have refined the identity of the HLA-DRB1 risk alleles and confirmed that variation in the HLA-A gene underlies the independent protective effect attributable to the class I region. Immunologically relevant genes are significantly overrepresented among those mapping close to the identified loci and particularly implicate T-helper-cell differentiation in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis
Why Does it Matter? A Narrative Review
Publisher Copyright: © The Author(s) 2025.Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common chronic inflammatory skin condition that significantly impairs patients’ quality of life as a result of intense itching and persistent eczematous lesions. Although AD has a multifaceted etiology—including genetic predisposition, environmental triggers, barrier dysfunction, and dysregulated immune responses—interleukin-4 (IL-4) has a recognized central role in its pathogenesis. This narrative review explores the role of IL-4 in the pathophysiology of AD, its contribution to the atopic march, and the therapeutic impact of IL-4 inhibition. IL-4 plays a critical role in skin barrier dysfunction, dysbiosis, pruritus, and inflammation, all of which contribute to the debilitating symptoms of AD. Moreover, IL-4 is implicated in other atopic conditions, such as asthma, allergic rhinitis, and food allergies, underscoring its role beyond AD and its importance in the atopic march. Recent advances in targeted therapies, particularly IL-4/IL-13 signaling inhibitors, have changed AD management. Dupilumab, an IL-4 receptor antagonist, has demonstrated significant efficacy in reducing AD symptoms and enhancing patient outcomes in both children and adults. In addition to symptomatic relief, suppressing IL-4 signaling may also offer potential for disease modification, altering AD’s progression and possibly preventing the onset of other atopic conditions. This review highlights the crucial role of IL-4 as a therapeutic target in AD. By understanding the role of IL-4 in AD pathogenesis and exploring the therapeutic implications of targeting IL-4 pathways, this work can contribute to guide future research concerning treatment approaches and also emphasize the need for early and targeted interventions to mitigate disease impact and ultimately improve patient quality of life.publishersversionpublishe
The main purpose of this thesis was to understand the Art potential for the construction of the subject (VIGOTSKY, 1984) who uses psychoactive drugs and who is on treatment at Centro de Atenção Psicossocial para Usuários de Álcool e outras Drogas - CAPS ad Rio Grande. This research is linked to the post graduate program Educação em Ciências: Química da Vida e Saúde and aimed to understand what are the benefits of Art? And how does the therapeutic approach act to provide better life and health quality to drugs users that are on treatment? Art, in this context, is understood like an educative approach - even if in a non-school environment - and it approximates two fields of knowledge: Health Education and Art itself. The qualitative methodological approach involved a case study (VENTURA, 2007) that was based on a drug user on treatment at CAPS ad, who is a participant and the author of the art project analyzed. This case study used the narratives (LARROSA, 2004) and a series of drawings of the drug user. The pieces of information produced were analyzed through reading and interpretation of non-verbal texts (BERGER, 2004, FERRARA, 2002, JUNG, 2005). A brief reflection about the work of the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo was also done and it was established some relations with the drawings that make up this research, in addition to a bibliographic review in the field of Education, Art Therapy, Mental Health and Mental Health legislation. The specific objects of this research were: to recognize the role of an Art/Educator in a Health Education environment; to stimulate artistic reflection in groups that are considered marginal people; to realize the reality of public policy of Mental Health; besides investigating the therapeutic capacity of the language of drawing. From this reflection, it was possible to conclude that, through the theoretical support about the construction of the subject and through the analysis of the written and symbolic texts, Art fulfils the creative and therapeutic role of transforming feelings through different artistic languages
The world of Leucippe and Clitophon: a study on the representation of space and time and Mikhail Bakhtins chronotope
Esta dissertação examina a representação literária do espaço e do tempo no romance Leucipe e Clitofonte, de Aquiles Tácio (séc. II d.C.). The present study engages in a dialogue with Mikhail Bakhtin\'s interpretation of the ancient Greek novel, departing from the concept of chronotope of adventure and ordeals. The dialogue assumes, along with Bakhtin, the inseparability between time and space, but while the author privileges time, this dissertation takes space as the guiding principle. To this end, it employs the concept of used territory from critical geographical theory. A passion between two young protagonists who, desiring to remain together, travel across the Mediterranean, facing a series of misadventures marks the ancient Greek novel. Within this dissertation, the emphasis that the genre concedes to these displacements was taken as an index for the society-space relationship during the High Roman Empire, when the Greek novelists wrote their works. The three chapters of interpretative analysis of Leucippe and Clitophon\'s plot investigate how this novel elaborates the relationship between men with their space and time. The study concludes that the space represented in Leucippe and Clitophon is not abstract and alien to the heroes, as Bakhtin interpreted, but reveals a concern with the form of social organization, its structures, and preservatio
