    Going micro: Analysing SAM multipliers for the dairy chain on Reunion Island

    No full text
    This poster presents a study on the multiplier effects in the dairy chain on Reunion Island. This Indian Ocean island is one of the French overseas departments. However, it struggles with similar problems as the developing areas in its neighbourhood, high levels of unemployment especially being a major concern. The agricultural sector justifies the state support it receives by stressing its role in the creation of employment and economic activity. Our focus is on the dairy sector of the Island, which is relatively recent and highly organized. Local milk production has increased over the years and our aim is to calculate the economywide impact of this trend. We use a social accounting matrix with disaggregated accounts for the dairy sector to calculate the impact of changes in this sector.Dairy, SAM, La Reunion, Livestock Production/Industries,

    A SAM-based Multiplier Model to Track Growth-Poverty-Inequality Nexus in Bangladesh

    No full text
    This paper offers a social accounting matrix (SAM) based analysis leading to a better understanding of the way various agents in the real economy interact, the way socio-economic groups make their living, the channels through which demand driven interventions may affect the poor, and the potential growth-poverty-inequality nexus. This is done in two steps. First, the paper reveals the economic structure of Bangladesh with a SAM framework where the macro (national accounts and input-output table) and micro (national surveys) data are juxtaposed under a unified data matrix to portray the meso level interactions of various economic agents, that is production sectors, factors of production, household groups, and other institutions. Subsequently, the SAM is used to develop a multiplier simulation model, which enables tracking and quantifying the nature and extent of the linkages among the demand driven shocks (stimuli), economic growth, income generation, and concomitant poverty and distribution implications from the perspective of different socio-economic groups in Bangladesh.Social Accounting Matrix (SAM); Multiplier Model; Growth-Poverty-Inequality;

    Artículo de investigación (psicología), Facultad de Ciencias Humanas, Sociales y de la Educación, Pereira, 2023.En primer lugar, el estudio aquí descrito tiene como objetivo principal realizar la comparación de la conducta agresiva física y verbal en dos grupos muestrales con y sin antecedentes de conducta infractora no institucionalizados en la ciudad de Pereira, por medio de la aplicación del cuestionario de agresividad AQ de Buss y Perry, una entrevista semiestructurada y el Self-Assessment Manikin (SAM). La muestra incluyó 60 sujetos de los cuales el 58,3% eran hombres y el 41,7% mujeres. Donde a partir de una metodología cuantitativa con un diseño descriptivo comparativo transversal, se identificó una correlación baja en relación a la influencia de factores como el estrato y los años de escolaridad en factores como el déficit de autocontrol y el déficit de autocontrol verbal. Por lo cual para futuras investigaciones se recomiendo una muestra más amplia, que cuente con mayor rigurosidad psicométrica en relación con los instrumentos utilizados. Abstract: First, the main objective of the study described here is to compare physical and verbal aggressive behavior in two sample groups with and without a history of non-institutionalized offending behavior in the city of Pereira, by means of the application of the Buss and Perry AQ aggressiveness questionnaire, a semi-structured interview and the Self-Assessment Manikin (SAM). The sample included 60 subjects of which 58.3% were men and 41.7% women, where from a quantitative methodology with a cross-sectional descriptive comparative design, a low significant correlation was identified in relation to the influence of factors such as stratum and years of schooling on factors such as self-control deficit and verbal self-control deficit, so that for future research a larger sample and greater rigor with the instruments is recommended to obtain psychometric information with greater validity.Universidad Católica de Pereira.
