    Nonlinear PEH array for broadband energy harvesting

    To better cater to the need on power resource of remote electronics and wireless sensors, harvesting energy from surrounding ambient environment is believed to be a promising solution and attracts lots of researching attention. Proposed harvester utilizes piezoelectric effect of material to convert vibration energy into electricity. To improve the efficiency of energy harvester, special effort is paid to broaden the bandwidth because the vibration source in ambient environment scattered over a wide frequency range. Many techniques such as multi-modal, oscillator arrays, active and passive tuning and nonlinear techniques have been used for broadband energy harvesting. Hence, this study proposed a nonlinear piezoelectric energy harvester (PEH) array which utilizes nonlinear oscillation technique. The proposed PEH consists of array of alumina cantilever beams which have a magnet embedded in the tip masses at their free end. Stationary magnets were carefully placed to interact with them. The specification of PEH was adjusted so that output from each beam could match up with another. The behavior of nonlinear PEH array was investigated through harmonic vibration test including both forward direction sweep and backward direction sweep. Later, optimum resistance is determined and power output from PEH was calculated. Furthermore, advantages of proposed PEH were obtained by comparing with linear PEH array. Based on the analysis of experiment data, it was concluded that proposed PEH was able to be functional over a much wider vibration frequency range compared with linear array.Bachelor of Engineering (Civil

    Masyarakat Cina Benteng yang mendiami daerah Tangerang Banten merupakan masyarakat yang memiliki adat istiadat seperti yang dilakukan oleh nenek moyangnya dari negeri Tiongkok. Tradisi yang dijalaninya merupakan warisan dari generasi yang terdahulu sampai saat ini tetap di laksanakannya. Salah satu tradisi tersebut yaitu upacara Peh-Cun. Perayaan pesta Peh-Cun oleh masyarakat Cina Benteng diadakan dengan sangat meriah dan disesuaikan dengan tradisi nenek moyangnya. Pesta tersebut dilakukan dari prosesi ritual sampai dengan hiburan yang berupa lomba balap perahu naga. Hal ini yang menjadi suatu daya tarik dalam melakukan sebuah penelitian tentang obyek tersebut. Penelitian yang dilakukan sehubungan dengan perayaan Peh-Cun ini mempergunakan metode kualitatif. Observasi secara langsung dilakukan untuk memahami beberapa fenomena yang ada dalam perayaan upacara tersebut dengan mengambil data di lapangan dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini terdiri dari dua aspek, pertama, wujud ketaatan dan kesetiaan masyarakat Cina Benteng terhadap Tian (Tuhan) dan Khut Guan (tokoh legendaris dalam upacara Peh- Cun). Sedangkan hasil yang kedua, perayaan Peh- Cun ini selain memberi hiburan kepada masyarkat, terdapat pula dorongan yang memberi semangat kepada masyarakat Cina Benteng. Hal itu terlihat ketika lomba balap perahu naga yang diiringi tambur peh-cun dan gembreng dapat direspon oleh peserta lomba. Apabila fenomena musikal tersebut ditarik ke dalam ranah yang lebih luas, lomba balap perahu naga tersebut dapat memotivasi masyarakat etnis Cina Benteng untuk tetap kuat dan tegar dalam menjalani kehidupan yakni terwujudnya keseimbangan, seperti yang terdapat dalam konsep Yin-Yang yang mereka yakini
