The author first lists the so-called mega-trends for the twenty-first century, inspired by the theses of the Spanish prognosticator J. L. Abellan. He shows the problem of literacy in the context of the OECD report on the issue (especially in the countries of central Europe). As with the ongoing mega trends, declining literacy and other phenomena affect the development of "small" philology, which includes the study of Slavic languages and literatures. The author first lists the so-called mega-trends for the twenty-first century, inspired by the theses of the Spanish prognosticator J. In his paper, the author deals with the topic of rendering the contemporary Polish literature, created after the year 1989, into the Czech language. He reminds the reader of certain facts from the literary life of the last 20 years and analyses certain texts of the contemporary Polish prose which were translated into Czech. It is not guaranteed that the outcome of numerous translations will be ever printed. What is more, Polish literature is not systematically published in the Czech Republic. On the other hand, the translations which have been published may show a Czech reader Polish people and the contemporary Poland in a different light than it was done earlier. The researcher quotes D. Maslowska’s prose, who introduces a Czech reader to the subculture of „dreserzy”(„dresiarze”), which requires a translator to find an adequate style and language in order to render the whole context into the target language. Another approach to the issue of shattering the image of Poles has been taken by J. Witkowski, who looks at the specific gay community in his texts. Finally, in the last example, the author shows how M. Szczygiel, a Pole, views the Czech history in the XXth century (the prose Gottland). The author also mentions the fact that there have been analogical processes in both literary cultures (subject matter, selection of means of literature, etc.)

Připomíná některá fakta z literárního života posledních dvaceti let a analyzuje některé texty současné polské prózy, které byly přeloženy do češtiny. Autor připomíná rovněž fakt, že v obou literárních kulturách probíhají analogické procesy (tematika, výběr jazykových prostředků).In his paper, the author deals with the topic of rendering the contemporary Polish literature, created after the year 1989, into the Czech language. Avtor v članku razmišlja o češki reformaciji, o njenih začetkih in sprejemanju reformacijskega gibanja v češkem okolju (v zvezi s spremembo načinov razmišljanja, v povezavi s spremembami v šolstvu, umetnosti, kulturi ipd.). The author of the text addresses the Czech Reformation, he reflects on the beginnings of the reform movement in the Czech environment (referring to the change of mindset concerning changes in education, art, culture, etc.). From a bird’s eye view, the author looks at Czech history in its shift to modernity and reveals the significant trail the Czech type of Reformation left behind in the history of Czech lands. He is following Czech Reformation since the time of the Roman emperor, Karel IV (Charles IV) with his efforts for a different Church to the 20th Century, when the problem of Reformation manifested itself in a rather philosophical dispute – concerning the two-armed religious trend in the history of Czech citizens. T. G. Masaryk and J. Pekař participated in the dispute as well as their students and followers of two different ideas. It is the so-called dispute about the meaning of Czech history, which has not been resolved until today and there may be one of the answers to the question about the type of relationship of a Czech citizen to faith, the church (devotion) and the domineering religious feeling in general. The author concludes that in Europe as well as in the Czech Republic the Reformation was never a single stream

On certain aspects of contemporary secondary school textbooks

The Author has posed a suggestive question if the aspect of genre (genology) has its place in teaching literature (national literature) within the process of high school education. He selected certain high school course books for his research, used in the present didactic process. He considers the genological aspect a very convenient intermediary for choice, classification and correction of the information which is to reach the student (the key competences). He submits some of his conclusions for attention − alarming ones − and he offers solutions. The main ones rest in the national institutions which made it possible for the unworthy text books to be created and publicized/widespread. Their value is raised by the teacher who meets all subject competences
