    Early postoperative outcomes in a retrospective comparison between Lichtenstein repair method and Rutkow-Robbins repair method for inguinal hernia repair: Zgodnji pooperativni izidi v retrospektivni primerjavi med metodo po Lichtensteinu in Rutkow-Robbins metodi pri operaciji dimeljske kile

    Purpose: The purpose of this retro­spective study was to determine the difference in postoperative outcomes in inguinal hernia patients treated with a Lichtenstein or Rutkow-Rob­bins hernioplasty. Methods: Ninety male patients who underwent a Lichtenstein or Rutkow-Robbins hernioplasty were retrospectively analysed. The ob­served variables were postoperative outcomes, specifically urinary re­tention, early and late postoperative bleeding, pain and analgesic usage, wound and implant infection, scro­tal hematoma and testicular atro­phy, patient mobilization time, and hernia recurrence. Results: No statistically significant differences in the incidence of post­operative outcomes were detected between the Lichtenstein and Rut­kow-Robbins hernioplasty groups (P > 0.005). Conclusion: No statistically significant differences in postoperative outcomes were detected between patients undergoing Lichtenstein and the Rutkow-Robbins her­nioplasty repairs.Namen: Namen te retrospektivne študije je bil raziskati razlike v pooper­ativnih izidih pri bolnikih z dimeljsko kilo, zdravljenih z Lichtensteinovo ali Rutkow-Robbinsovo hernioplastiko. Metode: Retrospektivno je bilo analiziranih 90 moških bolnikov, operiranih po bodisi Lichtensteinovi bodisi Rutkow-Robbinsovi metodi. Opazovane spremenljivke so bile po­operativni zapleti, in sicer zastajanje urina, zgodnja in pozna pooperativna krvavitev, bolečina in uporaba analge­tikov, okužba rane in mrežice, skrotal­ni hematom in atrofija testisa, čas do mobilizacije bolnika ter ponovitev kile. Rezultati: Med skupinama, operir­anima po ali Lichtensteinovi ali Rut­kow-Robbinsovi metodi, statistično značilnih razlik v pojavnosti sprem­ljanih pooperativnih zapletov ni bilo ugotovljenih (p > 0,005).     Perceptions of Corporate Social Responsibility in the Pharmaceutical Industry after COVID-19 and Implications for Health-Conscious Tourism

    The paper examines the perception of Generation Z regarding the social corporate responsibility (CSR) of pharmaceutical companies after the COVID-19 pandemic, which increased health awareness. Using a structured online questionnaire conducted among students, the study sheds light on generational attitudes towards economic, social, and environmental dimensions of CSR in the pharmaceutical industry. The results show that the social dimensions, in particular good working conditions, are generally rated most favourably. CSR activities need to be supported by appropriate communication with stakeholders, with online information proving to be particularly influential for Generation Z. Furthermore, some CSR activities of the pharmaceutical industry go beyond this sector and could be reflected in health-conscious tourism

    Die quasi-experimentelle Studie untersucht, wie moderne Technologien wie Künstliche Intelligenz und humanoide Roboter die Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung bei angehenden Lehrkräften verbessern. An der Studie nahmen 112 Personen teil. Ziel war es, die Wirksamkeit dieser Technologien im Vergleich zu traditionellen Methoden bei der Förderung der Nachhaltigkeitskompetenz zu bewerten. Die Vor- und Nachtests zeigten signifikante Verbesserungen im Verständnis von Nachhaltigkeitskonzepten, wobei humanoide Roboter die Antwortvielfalt erhöhten. Die Ergebnisse unterstreichen das Potenzial dieser Technologien, Lehrkräfte für Nachhaltigkeitsthemen zu sensibilisieren und neue Literalitäten zu fördern, die für die Bewältigung ökologischer Herausforderungen entscheidend sind. Die Studie betont die Notwendigkeit, solche Technologien in die Bildung zu integrieren, um künftige Generationen auf Nachhaltigkeitsherausforderungen vorzubereiten, und ruft zu weiterer Forschung über langfristige Auswirkungen auf.The quasi-experimental study explores how contemporary technologies, such as artificial intelligence and humanoid robots, enhance sustainability education for pre-service teachers. The study, involving 112 participants, assessed the effectiveness of these technologies compared to traditional methods in improving sustainability literacy. Pre- and post-tests revealed significant improvements in understanding sustainability concepts, with humanoid robots increasing response variability. Results highlight the technologies’ ability to engage educators in sustainability topics, promoting new literacies critical for addressing environmental challenges.Kvazi-eksperimentalna študija raziskuje, kako sodobne tehnologije, kot sta umetna inteligenca in humanoidni roboti, izboljšujejo izobraževanje za trajnostni razvoj pri bodočih učiteljih. Študija, v kateri je sodelovalo 112 udeležencev, je ocenjevala učinkovitost teh tehnologij v primerjavi s tradicionalnimi metodami pri izboljševanju trajnostne pismenosti. Predtest in potest sta pokazala pomembne izboljšave v razumevanju trajnostnih konceptov, pri čemer so humanoidni roboti povečali raznolikost odzivov.     Dear readers, esteemed authors, reviewers, and friends of our journal, today we stand before an important milestone – with the last issue of this year (Volume 18, Issue 4), the Journal of Elementary Education has officially come of age. This is not merely a number, but a symbol of the maturity, perseverance, and dedication that have guided us through all the years of our existence. When we set out on this path in 2008 with enthusiasm and courage, the decision to publish four issues per year seemed bold to many. Yet that very decision became the foundation upon which we have built our story. From the first double issues, humble beginnings, and limited resources, to the present day, when the journal stands as a recognized scientific forum, we have proven that perseverance and quality always pay off. Each year brought new challenges and new victories. In 2015, we gained valuable partners – the University of Primorska and Charles University in Prague. In 2019, we reached a turning point: inclusion in the Scopus database, which was both a recognition of our work and a promise for the future. Since 2020, the journal has been published in five issues per year, including special thematic issues that open new research horizons. Today, we can proudly say that more than 760 authors have published in our journal, contributing over 550 scientific papers, reviewed by nearly 800 experts. We receive more than ten submissions weekly, yet because of our high publication standards, we reject an average of 85%. It is precisely this unwavering commitment to quality that has led to our inclusion in the third quartile (Q3) of the global quality ranking as of 2024. The coming of age of our journal is more than a chronological milestone – it is proof that the Journal of Elementary Education has established itself as a reliable companion to researchers, as a space for dialogue, and as an echo of scientific discourse that enriches the field of primary education. Our journal covers a wide range of topics related to primary-level education. On this occasion, we call on colleagues, professors, and researchers to explore our archive when preparing their scientific contributions. We are confident that they will find content that sheds light on new perspectives and can be incorporated into their research. Citing articles from the JEE will contribute to the journal’s international recognition and elevate it further on the quality scale. On this occasion, we extend our sincere gratitude to all who have co-created our journey: the authors, reviewers, partner institutions, and loyal readers. Without your support, our story would be incomplete. May this coming of age mark the beginning of a new era in which we continue to strengthen quality, broaden horizons, and reinforce the importance of scientific inquiry. Danes stojimo pred pomembnim mejnikom – Revija za elementarno izobraževanje je z zadnjo letošnjo številko (letnik 18, številka 4) postala polnoletna. To ni zgolj številka, temveč simbol zrelosti, vztrajnosti in predanosti, ki so nas vodile skozi vsa leta njenega obstoja. Ko smo leta 2008 z zanosom in s pogumom stopili na pot, se je odločitev – da bomo letno izdali štiri številke – marsikomu zdela drzna. A prav ta odločitev je bila temelj, na katerem smo gradili našo zgodbo. Od prvih dvojnih številk, skromnih začetkov in omejenih sredstev, do danes, ko revija stoji kot prepoznaven znanstveni forum, smo dokazali, da se vztrajnost in kakovost vedno obrestujeta. Vsako leto je prineslo nove izzive in nove zmage. Leta 2015 smo pridobili dragocene partnerje – Univerzo na Primorskem in Karlovo univerzo v Pragi. Leta 2019 smo dosegli prelomni trenutek: vključitev v bazo Scopus, kar je bilo priznanje našemu delu in hkrati obljuba prihodnosti. Od leta 2020 naprej revija izhaja v petih zvezkih letno, med katerimi je vedno posebna tematska številka, ki odpira nova raziskovalna obzorja. Danes lahko z zadoščenjem povemo, da je v reviji objavilo več kot 760 avtoric in avtorjev, ki so prispevali preko 550 znanstvenih razprav, recenziranih s strani skoraj 800 strokovnjakinj in strokovnjakov. Tedensko prejmemo več kot deset prispevkov, a zaradi visokih kriterijev jih za objavo zavrnemo povprečno kar 85 %. Prav ta nepopustljiva zavezanost kakovosti je razlog, da je revija od leta 2024 uvrščena v tretjo četrtino (Q 3) svetovne lestvice kakovosti. Polnoletnost naše revije je več kot le kronološki mejnik – je dokaz, da se je Revija za elementarno izobraževanje uveljavila kot zanesljiv sopotnik raziskovalcev, kot prostor dialoga in kot odmev znanstvenih razprav, ki bogatijo področje primarnega izobraževanja. Revija za elementarno izobraževanje je vsebinsko raznolika in pokriva širok spekter vidikov izobraževanja na primarni ravni. Ob polnoletnosti apeliramo na vas, spoštovane in spoštovani, da pri pripravi svojih znanstvenih razprav posežete tudi v naš arhiv. Prepričani smo, da boste v njem našli vsebine, ki osvetljujejo nove vidike razmišljanja in jih lahko vključite v svoje raziskovalno delo. Citiranje prispevkov iz Revije za elementarno izobraževanje bo tako prispevalo k večji prepoznavnosti revije v mednarodnem prostoru ter jo dvignilo še više na lestvici kakovosti. Ob tej priložnosti se iskreno zahvaljujemo vsem, ki ste soustvarjali našo pot: avtoricam in avtorjem, recenzentkam in recenzentom, sodelujočim institucijam in zvestim bralkam in bralcem. Brez vaše podpore bi bila naša zgodba nepopolna.     Small town research represents a dominant part in urban geography. Being a transitional settlement type between urban and rural landscapes, it is important to define the roles of small towns regarding economy, services and infrastructure, recreation, or simply by their representations and identity. In this article, we aim to provide an insight into small town research in Central Eastern Europe and beyond, based on a 2024 summer school, focusing on the changing development paths of small towns.Raziskovanje malih mest predstavlja pomemben del urbane geografije. Ker gre za prehodni tip naselja med mestnimi in podeželskimi krajinami, je pomembno opredeliti vloge malih mest glede na gospodarstvo, storitve in infrastrukturo, rekreacijo ter njihovo reprezentacijo in identiteto.     Dekanski narečni govor nekoč in danes: glasovne spremembe

    This article examines phonetic changes in the Dekani local speech on the basis of a manuscript report written by Tine Logar following a dialectological field research carried out in Dekani in 1955. The manuscript, which is kept at the Department of Dialectology of the Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovenian Language at ZRC SAZU (Slovenian Academy of Arts and Sciences), as is normally the case, provides a comprehensive summary of the main phonological and morphological developments, and specific features in the dialect under scrutiny. Phonological findings made by Tine Logar are in this paper diachronically compared with records and available dialectal data and materials collected and published for the Dekani region in the period between 1955 and 2025. The main focus of the investigation is establishing which phonological features recorded by Logar are still present in the speech of older speakers, and assessing the extent (if any) to which they occur in the speech patterns of younger generations.V prispevku se posvečam glasovnim spremembam v dekanskem narečnem govoru, pri čemer izhajam iz rokopisnega poročila, ki ga je leta 1955 po dialektološki raziskavi v Dekanih pripravil Tine Logar. Rokopis, ki ga hrani Oddelek za dialektologijo Inštituta za slovenski jezik Frana Ramovša ZRC SAZU, kot običajno povzema glavne glasoslovne in morfološke razvoje ter posebnosti obravnavanega govora. Glasovne značilnosti, ki jih je zabeležil Tine Logar, diahrono primerjam z zapisi oziroma z razpoložljivim narečnim gradivom, zbranim in objavljenim v obdobju od leta 1955 do 2025. Osrednje raziskovalno vprašanje, ki si ga ob tem zastavljam, je, katere glasovne značilnosti iz Logarjevega zapisa se še vedno ohranjajo v govoru starejše generacije in v kolikšni meri (če sploh) so prisotne v govoru mlajših govorcev

    The article examines the impact of globalisation, technological development, and economic processes on contemporary security and the transformation of armed forces, with particular emphasis on small states and the Slovenian Armed Forces. Globalisation has created a new security environment characterised by predominantly transnational, hybrid, and non-military threats, which reduces the relevance of classical military logic and strengthens the importance of comprehensive security approaches. Technological progress provides advanced capabilities but simultaneously increases cyber, informational, and supply-chain vulnerabilities. Economic interdependence further shapes the security landscape, as fiscal constraints and the volatility of global markets directly influence the development, sustainability, and modernisation of defence systems. The transformation of armed forces is driven by doctrinal, organisational, and technological innovations that encourage a shift from mass conscript armies to small professional forces, modular structures, interoperability, and closer partnerships with industry. For small states, key elements include specialisation, strategic niche positioning, resilience, and clear integration within coalition and alliance frameworks. An analysis of Slovenian strategic and normative documents shows that the Slovenian Armed Forces are positioned as the central defence pillar of national security, yet they face challenges related to modernisation, personnel stability, technological lag, and inconsistencies between ambitions and available resources. The article proposes development guidelines that combine technological modernisation, personnel stabilisation, greater economic sustainability, and enhanced resilience of the entire defence system.Članek analizira vpliv globalizacije, tehnološkega razvoja in ekonomskih procesov na sodobno varnost ter transformacijo oboroženih sil, s posebnim poudarkom na malih državah in Slovenski vojski. Globalizacija je ustvarila novo varnostno okolje, v katerem so ogrožanja pretežno transnacionalna, hibridna in nevojaška, kar zmanjšuje relevanco klasične vojaške logike in krepi pomen celovitih pristopov. Tehnološki napredek prinaša napredne zmogljivosti, hkrati pa povečuje kibernetsko, informacijsko in dobavno ranljivost. Ekonomska soodvisnost dodatno oblikuje varnostni prostor, saj fiskalne omejitve in volatilnost globalnih trgov neposredno vplivajo na razvoj, vzdržnost in modernizacijo obrambnih sistemov. Transformacijo oboroženih sil usmerjajo doktrinarne, organizacijske in tehnološke inovacije, ki spodbujajo prehod od masovnih naborniških k majhnim profesionalnim silam, modularno strukturo, interoperabilnost in tesnejša partnerstva z industrijo. V primeru malih držav postajajo ključni elementi specializacija, strateška nišnost, odpornost ter jasna integracija v koalicijske in zavezniške okvirje. Analiza slovenskih strateških in normativnih dokumentov kaže, da je Slovenska vojska umeščena kot osrednji obrambni steber nacionalne varnosti, vendar se sooča z izzivi modernizacije, kadrovske stabilnosti, tehnološkega zaostanka in neusklajenosti med ambicijami ter razpoložljivimi viri. Članek predlaga razvojne smernice, ki vključujejo tehnološko posodobitev, kadrovsko stabilizacijo, večjo ekonomsko vzdržnost in krepitev odpornosti celotnega obrambnega sistema

    Workload, Social Support and Emotional Stability: A Comparative Study of Croatian and German Employees

    The following article examines the question of whether factors such as workload and social support from colleagues and superiors have a significant positive or negative impact on the emotional well-being of employees. Additionally, it compares the results between Croatia and Germany in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. For this purpose, a sample of 1,800 employees (900 per country) was used for statistical analysis, using data from the European Working Conditions Telephonic Survey. A descriptive analysis and an inferential analysis using the nonparametric Mann-Whitney U test were performed for variables such as work-life balance, high-speed work, work under time pressure, work autonomy, perceived well-being, disruptive emotions, presenteeism, and social support from colleagues and supervisors. The results show that Croatians exhibit a higher level of emotional stability than German employees, as they tend to be happier and in a better mood, have a lower workload, and receive more social support from coworkers and managers

    Conscientious Objection (General Aspects and the Slovenian Regulation of Conscientious Objection to Abortion)

    This article discusses the theoretical aspects of conscientious objection. It is primarily a moral category. In relation to law, it is the disobedience of an individual to certain legal norms (principles and rules) that conflict with the individual\u27s moral conscience. Conscientious objection differs in several respects from other forms of disobedience to authority, such as civil disobedience. As a moral phenomenon, conscientious objection is first and foremost the inner moral obligation of an individual to resist a particular political, legal or other norm of authority or behaviour. Conscientious objection may also be permitted by law, but to a very limited extent. Conscientious objection can only be defined as a right in a rationalized reflection of morality and, above all, in the sphere of law which is based on the dualism of rights and duties (attributive-imperative character of law). In the article, some important factors for the legal assessment of the (right to) conscientious objection and some fundamental aspects of the Slovenian constitutional and legal regulation of the right to conscientious objection to abortion by a physician are presented in more detail
