Innovation and Collaboration in the Digital Era will empower the reader to take action and show how to change your conversation about innovation and collaboration.‹/EM› "Innovation and collaboration are among the most important concepts that drive human society forward. Jara Pascual explores their interplay in a unique way, with the chapters walking through the richness of the topics like a Mediterranean food market, full of colour, diversity and flavours. A remarkable, engaging and satisfying read." Johan Kestens, CIO New York Mellon Bank "Jara's voice is rigorous and inspiring on how to manage organizations in the current era. Inded, there are strategic reasons for diversity. And indeed, good leaders are not just smart, but emotionally intelligent. A MUST READ!" Elena Arrieta, tech & innovation journalist. Currently working as Communications Manager at DigitalES, the Spanish Association for Digitalisation. "Jara Pascual is opening a new box for innovation. I was intrigued about the connection of Emotional Intelligence and business in particular in a startup context. Everyone is looking for recipes for personal and professional success and this approach might be the key for both." Sabine Stuiver, Co-founder and CMO Hydraloop "Jara Pascual, with colleague Celia Avila-Rauch, has been able to distill and apply the ability model of emotional intelligence to the art and science of innovation and innovation leadership. In our work we note that feelings are not always facts but that emotions as a form of data. More than that, emotions can assist or facilitate with decision making, creativity and innovation rather than getting in the way, but only if leaders are "smart" about emotions and develop and deploy their emotional intelligence skills."

In <i>B. pax</i> the anthers are also convenient but form a fusiform structure, and also differ by the curved extension of the anther connective (vs. straight in <i>Begonia pax</i>).</p> <p> <b>Description</b>:—Caulescent herb, to 1 m high. <i>Stem</i> erect; internodes to 3.6 cm long, and to 3 mm thick, glabrous. <i>Stipules</i> sub-persistent, membranous, glabrous, pale green, ovate, 5.7–6.8 × 1.9–3.3 mm, apex obtuse, setulose, margin entire. <i>Petiole</i> glabrous or pilose toward the apex, green, 2.3–3.5 (10.7) mm long, <i>lamina</i> of the leaf straight to the petiole, membranous, asymmetric, ovate or elliptic, 3.5–9.4 × 1.4–3.2 cm, base unequal, lobulated or rounded on one side, obtuse or rounded on the other side, margin doubly-serrate, ciliate, apex acute or short acuminate, lower surface pale green, pilose on the veins, upper surface dark green, disperse pilose, pubescent on the veins, venation pinnate, 5–8 veined pairs from the base. <i>Inflorescence</i> unisexual in monoecious plants, however, based on field observation some individuals are unisexual. <i>staminate inflorescence</i> axillary, erect, like-umbel cincinnus, not branched, bearing up to 3 staminate flowers; peduncle glabrous, green, to 2.2 cm long, bracts deciduous, glabrous, pale green or hyaline, ovate, ca. 7.9 × 4.5 mm, margin entire, apex obtuse. <i>staminate flowers</i>: pedicels glabrous, to 16 mm long; tepals 4, spreading, outer 2 glabrous, white, elliptic, 10–16.5 × 3–7.3 mm, margin entire, apex obtuse, inner 2 glabrous, white, oblong, 9.2–11.2 × 1.6–3 mm, margin entire, apex obtuse; stamens 6–9, connivent forming a cylindrical structure, filaments whitish, 0.4–0.6 mm long, connate on a short torus of ca. 1 mm long, anthers yellow, linear-oblong, 3.3–3.5 × ca. 0.5 mm, dehiscence slightly introrse, connectives produced ca. 1 mm, with the produced part curved outward. <i>Pistillate inflorescence</i>, solitary flowers. <i>Pistillate flowers</i>: pedicels to 19 mm long; bracteoles not seen; ovary, glabrous, obdeltoid, 10–12 × 15–20 mm, equally 3-horned, horns slightly curved upward, placenta simple, bearing ovules on both surfaces; tepals 5, spreading, slightly differing in form and size, the largest glabrous, white, elliptic, 17–19 × 7–9 mm, margin entire, apex rounded, the smallest glabrous, white, 12–15 × 5–7 mm, margin entire, apex obtuse; styles 3, fused at the base, yellow, 7–9 mm long, apex slightly flattened, stigmatic surface papillate and restricted to the apex. <i>Fruiting pedicel</i> to 17 mm long; <i>capsule</i> body and horns shape as in ovary, to 11 × 26 mm, apical column short, ca. 5 mm.</p> <p> <b>Etymology</b>:—The name of this species is <i>in memoriam</i> of the Colombian botanist Diego Yepes, who sadly died at a young age in 2018. He was a passionate orchidologist, mainly studying orchids from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, and he accompanied the first author on an expedition to find new specimens of this species in 2015.</p> <p> <b>Distribution and habitat</b>:—Endemic to the Northern and Western part of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, between 1400 and 2000 m. This elevation range is included in a zone of cloud forest vegetation, and characterized as sub-Andean forest (Cuatrecasas 1958, Hernandez-C. & Sanchez 1992). The well conserved patches of forest in this zone have a canopy between 25 and 35 m tall, the undergrowth has abundant arborescent ferns and palms, as well as many epiphytes and woody lianas. The species was seen growing on rocks of a small stream, covered by dense arborescent vegetation, and surrounded by shrubs, herbs and mosses.</p> <p> <b>Conservation status:―</b> We assess this species as endangered (EN B2a,b(ii)) because its EOO is less than 5000 km 2 (21.2 km 2), and AOO is less than 500 km 2 (12 km 2), and it is known from fewer than five locations (criterion B2a) and an observed reduction in the area of occupancy (criterion B2b(ii)). Close to the area where the species grows is the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta National Park, a conservation area, however the lower park border is at 2000 m elevation, while the species grows just below this level, so the known populations are not protected. The area covered by montane forest in the region has declined drastically during the last five decades, in some cases the reduction of the original vegetation is 80% (Fundación ProSierra 1991).</p> <p> <b>Notes</b>:—This species is part of the group II, <i>sensu</i> Jara <i>et al.</i> (2019) of <i>Casparya,</i> which is characterized by unisexual inflorescences, with solitary pistillate flowers, and acolumnar fruits. ITS sequences of this species were included in Jara et al (2019), (<i>sp. nov.</i> 7), showing evidence for its close relationship with species in the eastern Cordillera with similar morphological characteristics to <i>B. pax</i> and <i>B. solaniflora</i>. This species can be distinguished from the rest of the group by its curved anther connectives, the stamens connivent forming a cylindrical structure, and its larger staminate flowers.</p> <p> <b>Additional specimens examined</b>:— COLOMBIA. <b>Magdalena</b>: Cienaga, corregimiento San Pedro de la Sierra, sector El Bosque, 12 November 2015, 1600–1700 m, <i>A</i> <i>. International audienceLa persecución de la Dancing girl (the original title in French is La poursuite de la Dancing girl) is a short novel written by Peruvian Víctor Manuel Llona and published in French in La Nouvelle Revue Française, one of the most famous literary magazines of the first half of the twentieth century. It is a cosmopolitan tale, strange under the pen of a writer born in Lima, based between France and the United States. Before analyzing this work, which is about forty pages long and was published in two installments in 1913, Isabelle Tauzin-Castellanos introduces the author of this escapist tale in the style of Darío. The preliminary study precedes the novel published within the framework of the Cornejo Polar Center for Latin American Studies and the program On Disasters and Celebrations conducted by Daniel Carrillo Jara (North Texas University).La persecución de la Dancing girl (el título original en francés es La poursuite de la Dancing girl) es una novela breve escrita por el peruano Víctor Manuel Llona publicada en francés en La Nouvelle Revue Française, una de las más famosa revistas literarias del primer medio siglo XX. Newcomer Student-Athlete Perceptions of Coaches’ Socialization Strategies: Scale Development

    No full text
In this era of multi-million dollar paydays, the need to fill arenas and the pressure to win has increased dramatically. In order to build a winning program, the coaching staff turns to national and international recruiting. According to David Ching, Senior Contributor of Forbes, “Nearly every Power Five college athletics program spends more than $1 million per year on recruiting” (Ching, 2018). The fact that student-athletes have a limited time of four years of eligibility to perform for their institutions, results in a continuous influx of newcomers to the team. Student-athletes with a diverse cultural background have to adapt to a team culture in order to be able to perform at the highest level. Every sports team is situated within a unique environmental context (i.e., physical, task, social, personal) that is characterized by a distinct social reality (Martin, Bruner, Eys & Spink, 2014). Considering that, the integration of newcomer athletes is a process that happens on a large scale at the beginning of every season, delineating the tactics sports teams employ to facilitate this process warrants considerable attention (Benson, Evan, & Eys, 2016). Theory regarding organizational socialization offers a promising framework to examine how sports teams manage initial entry experiences because it presumes that teams are active agents in newcomer socialization – using tactics that ideally combine to maximize outcomes for the individual as well as the group (Van Maanen & Schein, 1979). In collegiate athletics, the head coach has a major leadership role within the team. The high salaries that head coaches receive are just a reflection of how important the coach vi is within the collegiate athletics model. Nevertheless, very little is known about the effectiveness of the socialization process of student-athletes with a different culture (SADC), established by the coach. In this study, the author focused on the organizational socialization process of newcomer student-athletes that have a significant difference between their culture and the team culture (e.g. a student-athlete from California who attends an institution in South Carolina). The author took special attention to the student-athlete’s perception of the ability of the coach to structure the socialization process. Based on the results from Jara-Pazmino, Heere, Regan, Blake, and Southall (2017) that state that each athlete has a different background and different factors that influence their reality, which might hinder the effectiveness of universal treatment. Jara-Pazmino et al. (2017) proposed the use of a socialization process with five constructs (custom coaching, mentorship, team structure, all-inclusive family and support services). For this study, the author has conceptualized the five concepts proposed by Jara-Pazmino et al. (2017) based on an extensive literature review to coach’s cultural competence, mentorship, introduction to norms and roles, prosocial behavior and introduction to support services. Coaches face a challenge when trying to find a balance between accommodating SADC and findings ways to create a homogeneous culture for their team. For this reason, the purpose of this study is to develop a valid and reliable instrument to measure the SADC’s perceptions of the tactics used by their coach during the socialization process of newcomers into college athletics, based on the scale development procedure by Churchill (1979)

The Cuadernos Urgentes literary criticism collection has responded to the need to cover certain pending issues that have been overlooked by the national academy, agenda items that have finally found a place to be carried out. Each volume of articles is dedicated to the work of a well-known Peruvian writer in full production, but insufficiently studied. After the articles focused on Augusto Higa and Julian Perez, the third one is devoted to Cronwell Jara (Piura, 1949), an author who throughout his extensive career has traveled the paths of various literary and metaliterary genres, although narrative is his most celebrated facet.

    No full text
The objective of this research work was to describe how suffering is evident in the stories Hard Bone and Pig Mountain. Cronwell Jara, author of the Literary Generation of the 80s, portrays social problems such as discrimination and migration, reflecting a cruel and unequal reality. The research problem focuses on the representation of suffering through the child's perspective and the exposure of the inhuman in these stories. The study uses a hermeneutic approach to interpret human expressions in their historical context, based on the analysis of poetic prose, according to Percy Lubbock. The results reveal that both stories present homodiegetic narrators with a childish and tragic narrative voice, integrating elements of cultural memory and adding depth to their writing. The conclusions highlight that Jara's stories portray the political, social and economic reality of Peru, using his poetics to promote social change. The theme of suffering is addressed with a poetic style that delves into the experience of pain. The language and literary resources record the physical and psychological tensions of the characters, creating a strong emotional impression on the reader. The child narrator allows the reader to explore complex themes and reflect on the human condition and society. In Montacerdos, archetypes such as Homo Sacer and Hominis Sacri are identified, while in Hueso duro feelings such as revenge and betrayal are explored. Finally, it is recommended to promote the study of Peruvian authors and create spaces that encourage cultural revaluation.

    No full text
In this paper is done a historical review of the valuation methods of energy needs, protein and intake capacity for ruminants and goats at different stages of the production cycle. Levels of energy and protein, in practice there is a convergence towards the use of net energy and protein value actually provided by the food, both directly or through the synthesis of microbial protein. For ingestion, most systems working in kilograms of intake dry matter, but is far too inaccurate for ruminants. INRA, raises the replection value, a different approach to intake capacity. In all cases the improvement of evaluation systems, is accompanied by complex calculation procedures which take into account numerous factors and their interactions: live animal weight, quality and quantity of milk, month of pregnancy, number of young, body condition, etc. In this paper we calculate the automation needs of sheep at different stages of their production cycle, following the INRA scheme using an Excel spreadsheet.Grado en Veterinaria.
