Parttimaa, Mari & Toivanen, Minna. Tutkimus kehitysvammaisten integroitumisesta ja uskonto kasvatuksen toteutumisesta päiväkodeissa Espoon Leppävaaran alueella. Diak etelä, Järvenpää. Kevät 2012. 49 s. 2 liitettä. Diakonia ammattikorkeakoulu, sosiaalialan koulutusohjelma, Diakonisen sosiaalityön suuntautumisvaihtoehto, sosionomi (AMK) + diakonin virkakelpoisuus / sosionomi(AMK) + diakonin ja lastentarhanopettajan virkakelpoisuus.
Opinnäytetyömme tarkoituksena on tutkia kasvattajien näkökulmasta kehitysvammaisen lapsen integroitumista tavalliseen päiväkotiryhmään Leppävaaran päivähoitoalueella. Tutkimme lisäksi, kuinka uskontokasvatus toteutuu Leppävaaran päiväkodeissa kehitysvammaisten lasten kohdalla.
Opinnäytetyömme on lähestymistavaltaan kvalitatiivinen eli laadullinen. Tutkimus toteutettiin kyselytutkimuksena.

In our thesis we studied how, from the pedagogues’ point of view, integration of children with intellectual disabilities into a normal daycare group in Leppävaara daycare district takes place. We also studied how religious upbringing is realized among these children in Leppävaara daycare centers.
Our work is based on qualitative approach which includes sending out a questionnaire. The inquiry was carried out in four Leppävaara district daycare centers. There were 76 questionnaires altogether of which 17 were returned in given time. The material was analyzed using the method of material-based content analysis.
The study shows that the pedagogical staff gives support to integration of children with intellectual disabilities into normal daycare in case the staff resources are adequate and the pedagogical staff has the possibility to receive sufficient training. Integration of children with intellectual disabilities need special support from the pedagogical staff to be able to create relationships with other children. This can happen with sufficient staff and aid resources.
The study also points out that religious upbringing of the disabled children is carried out in accordance with the plans made by daycare centers, using visual techniques and different kinds of performances as supportive means.
Our conclusion is that the integration of the children with slight intellectual disabilities into a normal daycare center is considered to be a rehabilitative form of support if the resources are adequate and the pedagogical staff has the possibility to relate to each and every child in the group. Integration of children with intellectual disabilities takes part in religious activities and they receive special help when needed. The activities are adjusted according to their needs and visual techniques are used to support narration

Dr. Mari Lee Mifsud, Professor of Rhetoric and Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies, discusses her new book, Rhetoric and the Gift: Ancient Rhetorical Theory and Contemporary Communication, published recently by Duquesne University Press. Rhetoric and the Gift, taking as its starting point the Homeric idea of the gift and Aristotle’s related rhetorical theory, explores rhetoric not only at the level of the artful response but at the level of the call and response. Throughout the book, Dr. Mifsud pursues a number of questions crucial to thinking about contemporary communication

Formation of Ethnic Identity of Mari People in Absence of Single Mari Literary Language
This study is devoted to the history of the formation of the ethnic identity of the Mari people in the Republic of Mari El. Particular attention is paid to the changes in the identification of Mari, which occurred in direct proportion to extralinguistic factors. The question of the role of language, confessional affiliation, historical past, relations with nature and mythological symbols that characterize the modern ethnic Mari identity is considered. The importance of the demographic imbalance in the Republic, which played the most significant role in shaping the character of the Mari, is emphasized. The relevance of the study is due to the increased interest of science in recent decades in the topic of ethnic and Russian identity. The identity of the Mari people has not been previously studied by the author of this work, although many problems of Mari El have been analyzed and described in detail: the language situation in different time periods, language policy, the legislative framework regarding languages and the education system, the history of the Mari literary language, its writing and a number of other sociolinguistic aspects. Unlike articles by other authors on the topic of Mari identity, the novelty of this work lies in the fact that for the first time the identity is shown in the process of formation, from antiquity to the present day. A characteristic of the identity of the Mari people, formed under the influence of a variety of factors, is compiled

Behind the Scene : The Mari Teacher’s Wardrobe in Middle Russia
In this article, I analyze teacher’s attire as a political phenomenon in the context of the Mari people, a Finno-Ugric minority living in Central Russia. The material for this study is based on observations and interviews made by the author during 1987‒2019 in different places of the Mari region. The Mari teacher’s dress code, a dark dress with a white collar, is usually considered self-evident, but as I argue in this article, in the Soviet Union, and in Russia at the post-socialist time, the Mari female teacher’s dress served two practices. Firstly, clothing represented position and agency of power, the socialist ideal, and later the political trend of the majority. Secondly, clothing represented traditional, everyday Mari life.
