Co-creating Responsible Energy Systems
Energy system projects in countries like India are often failing. Not only because of technical or economical barriers, but mainly institutional and social issues are at the base of these failures. A co-creation, or participatory, process to align all demands and requirements of the different stakeholders is required. This paper takes evidence from literature on co-creation and energy systems and from case study research in India to help define an approach towards such a co-creation process as a use case for the application of the Responsible Innovation Systems framework. A discussion on co-creation as a solution generates a number of recommendations, after which a set of characteristics is concluded that the co-creation process of energy systems should have towards a responsible approach, so that more robust and sustainable innovations might emerge.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Energy and IndustryDelft Centre for Entrepreneurshi
VULNERABLE WEB APPLICATIONS AND HOW TO AUDIT THEM : Use of OWASP Zed Attack Proxy effectively to find the vulnerabilities of web applications

Title of the bachelor’s thesis: Vulnerable Web Applications and How to Audit Them
Supervisor: Lauri Pirttiaho
Term and year of completion: Spring 2016 Number of pages: 59
This thesis work was done as a private project for completing a Bachelor’s De-gree in Information Technology. The main objective of this work was to find out the effectiveness of OWASP Zed Attack Proxy, an open source and free inte-grated penetration testing tool for finding vulnerabilities in web applications. Besides that, the secondary objectives were to learn how to make web applica-tions and try to find out the security loopholes of them.
For this project, Notepad++, Localhost, and OWASP Zed Attack Proxy were used as tools, PHP, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS as languages, and MySQL Database for making a prototype web application. Notepad++ is a text editor and it supports various programming languages for writing programs or edit files. Localhost was used as a web host. And OWASP Zed Attack Proxy was used as a testing tool. The reason for using OWASP ZAP is that it is an open source and free application and it is a very popular tool among all available web application penetration testing tools either commercial or open source.
Some vulnerabilities were successfully found by the application (OWASP Zed Attack Proxy). Besides that, the developed prototype web application is a simple one. To test the effectiveness of OWASP Zed Attack Proxy in more detail, the web application should be more complex with various features. Being a prototype, it has limitations regarding its full intended features. As only few features were implemented in the prototype, there is a possibility to add more features to the web application as well as testing it in the future
Monomeric and dimeric oxidomolybdenum(V and VI) complexes, cytotoxicity, and DNA interaction studies: molybdenum assisted C═N bond cleavage of salophen ligands
Four novel dimeric bis-μ-imido bridged metal–metal bonded oxidomolybdenum(V) complexes [MoV2O2L′21–4] (1–4) (where L′1–4 are rearranged ligands formed in situ from H2L1–4) and a new mononuclear dioxidomolybdenum(VI) complex [MoVIO2L5] (5) synthesized from salen type N2O2 ligands are reported. This rare series of imido- bridged complexes (1–4) have been furnished from rearranged H3L′1–4 ligands, containing an aromatic diimine (o-phenylenediamine) “linker”, where Mo assisted hydrolysis followed by −C═N bond cleavage of one of the arms of the ligand H2L1–4 took place. A monomeric molybdenum(V) intermediate species [MoVO(HL′1–4)(OEt)] (Id1–4) was generated in situ. The concomitant deprotonation and dimerization of two molybdenum(V) intermediate species (Id1–4) ultimately resulted in the formation of a bis-μ-imido bridge between the two molybdenum centers of [MoV2O2L′21–4] (1–4). The mechanism of formation of 1–4 has been discussed, and one of the rare intermediate monomeric molybdenum(V) species Id4 has been isolated in the solid state and characterized. The monomeric dioxidomolybdenum(VI) complex [MoVIO2L5] (5) was prepared from the ligand H2L5 where the aromatic “linker” was replaced by an aliphatic diimine (1,2-diaminopropane). All the ligands and complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV–vis spectroscopy, NMR, ESI- MS, and cyclic voltammetry, and the structural features of 1, 2, 4, and 5 have been solved by X-ray crystallography. The DNA binding and cleavage activity of 1–5 have been explored. The complexes interact with CT-DNA by the groove binding mode, and the binding constants range between 103 and 104 M–1. Fairly good photoinduced cleavage of pUC19 supercoiled plasmid DNA was exhibited by all the complexes, with 4 showing the most promising photoinduced DNA cleavage activity of ∼93%. Moreover, in vitro cytotoxic activity of all the complexes was evaluated by MTT assay, which reveals that the complexes induce cell death in MCF-7 (human breast adenocarcinoma) and HCT-15 (colon cancer) cell lines

A New Method of Brain Tissues Segmentation from MRI with Accuracy Estimation
AbstractIn this paper, a new concept has been incorporated using level set methodology for the specific segmentation of brain tissues in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain images. In this segmentation, the normal tissues such as WM (White Matter), GM (Gray Matter) and CSF (Cerebrospinal Fluid) with other part of human head such as skull, marrow, and muscular skin are segmented. The segmentation has been done by using repeated level set method based on the condition sharp peak greater than three. The each segmented component is generating a hierarchical structure to make correct tissue segmentation. The performance of the segmentation method is estimated by different accuracy, sensitivity and error correction metric. The performance of segmentation process is analyzed using a defined set of MRI brain. From visualization and mathematical both point of measurement proposed gives very superior results on brain MR images
Comparative bioclimatic approach for comfort and passive heating and cooling strategies in Algeria
peer reviewedThe energy consumption and thermal comfort in buildings are heavily affected by weather conditions. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to analyze the bioclimatic potential of Algerian climate zones. This analysis was made based on eight representative locations using recent weather datasets (2003–2017). The thermal comfort and passive design potential analysis were based on a psychometric chart applying the adaptive comfort model ASHRAE 55–2017. In addition, an evaluation of the bioclimatic potential was conducted using simulations of a monitored and calibrated residential building model in Algeria using EnergyPlus. The building model has been tested in eight previously selected locations. The heating and cooling energy load results were calculated for each climatic zone and compared. The results allow architects and urban planners to better understand the climate and provide practical design guidance
