Archiwum Danych Jakościowych przy IFiS PAN
This text contains information about the Qualitative Data Archive at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology PAS (QDA) [Archiwum Danych Jakościowych przy IFiS PAN — ADJ; adj.ifispan.pl], which collects and digitalizes databases from a broad range of research in the social sciences and makes them accessible online. The archive was established with the idea of preserving material of a qualitative nature. There were two main aims: to initiate new methods of research using the collected resources and to stimulate theoretical and methodological reflection on the idea of archivization, renewed analysis of data, and various other forms of revisiting research. The creators of the archive have managed to save and digitalize considerable amounts of material derived from studies that are by now historical and are important for Polish sociology and anthropology. The Qualitative Data Archive also contains collections of materials from quite recent studies, which have often been processed in electronic form. For these, the QDA functions as a platform where researchers can present their analyses and findings more widely and in a secure form both for themselves and for their respondents
PETER PAN
The audio collection brings the Peter Pan story in seventeen chapters which follow the original text. To practice the trivial English students skills, such as listening, text comprehension and oral skills. The audio also helps to improve the students vocabulary and to increase the knowledge in literature

Pan Asia Networking (PAN) prospectus review 2006-2011
A sample of research findings is provided from Pan Asia Networking (PAN) research projects. These examples give a sense of the type of evidence that has been gathered by partners under PAN’s three main themes (Policies, Technologies, and Effects). The themes are summarized in a table in terms of objectives, research activities, and expected outcomes. PAN-supported research also aims to be relevant and rigorous enough to influence policy debates and attract media attention. PAN encouraged new researchers in ICT4D programming such as the PANdora distance learning research network, and LIRNEasia (communications policy). This review encompasses a wide array of outputs and outcomes
Overview of the Author Profiling Task at PAN 2013
[EN] This overview presents the framework and results for the Author Profiling
task at PAN 2013. We describe in detail the corpus and its characteristics,
and the evaluation framework we used to measure the participants performance to
solve the problem of identifying age and gender from anonymous texts. Finally,
the approaches of the 21 participants and their results are described. The author profiling task @PAN-2013 was an activity of the WIQ-EI IRSES project (Grant No. 269180) within the FP 7 Marie Curie People Framework of the European Commission. We want to thank the Forensic Lab of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra Barcelona for sponsoring the award for the winner team. The work of the first author was partially funded by Autoritas Consulting SA and by Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad de España under grant ECOPORTUNITY IPT-2012-1220-430000. The work of the second author was in the framework the DIANA-APPLICATIONS-Finding Hidden Knowledge in Texts: Applications (TIN2012-38603-C02-01) project, and the VLC/CAMPUS Microcluster on Multimodal Interaction in Intelligent Systems. The work of fifth author was funded in part by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) project "Mining Conversational Content for Topic Modelling and Author Identification (ChatMiner)" under grant number 200021_130208.Rangel, F.; Rosso, P.; Koppel, M.; Stamatatos, E.; Inches, G. Compressive Sensing for PAN-Sharpening
Based on compressive sensing framework and sparse reconstruction technology, a new pan-sharpening method, named Sparse Fusion of Images (SparseFI, pronounced as sparsify), is proposed in [1]. In this paper, the proposed SparseFI algorithm is validated using UltraCam and WorldView-2 data. Visual and statistic analysis show superior performance of SparseFI compared to the existing conventional pan-sharpening methods in general, i.e. rich in spatial information and less spectral distortion. Moreover, popular quality assessment metrics are employed to explore the dependency on regularization parameters and evaluate the efficiency of various sparse reconstruction toolboxes
Roary : rapid large-scale prokaryote pan genome analysis
This work was supported by the Wellcome Trust (grant WT 098051).A typical prokaryote population sequencing study can now consist of hundreds or thousands of isolates. Interrogating these datasets can provide detailed insights into the genetic structure of prokaryotic genomes. We introduce Roary, a tool that rapidly builds large-scale pan genomes, identifying the core and accessory genes. Roary makes construction of the pan genome of thousands of prokaryote samples possible on a standard desktop without compromising on the accuracy of results. Using a single CPU Roary can produce a pan genome consisting of 1000 isolates in 4.5 hours using 13 GB of RAM, with further speedups possible using multiple processors.Peer reviewe
Uncovering Plagiarism - Author Profiling at PAN
[ES] PAN is a yearly workshop and evaluation lab on uncovering plagiarism, authorship, and social software misuse. Since 2009, PAN has been organizing benchmark activities on uncovering plagiarism, authorship, and social software misuse . An additional task - author profiling - has also recently been proposed. Author profiling, instead of focusing on individual authors, studies how language is shared by a class of people. Author profiling is a problem of growing importance in applications in forensics, security and marketing. For instance, a person working in the area of forensic linguistics may need to know the linguistic profile of a suspected text message (language used by a certain type of person) and identify characteristics (with language as evidence). Similarly, from a marketing viewpoint, companies may be interested in determining, through the analysis of blogs and online product reviews, what types of people like or dislike their products.Rosso, P.; Rangel Pardo, FM. The Great Pan: rebirth of a god in English literature
