Dalton Trevisan e o projeto estético minimalista

    No full text

“You don’t know nothing about being me”: Ideology and Characterisation in When They See Us

    No full text
In this paper, a range of linguistic and multimodal approaches are used to show how the Us versus Them polarisation between the White and the Black population is construed in the American TV show When They See Us (2019). Starting from the contribution of linguistic and visual choices at the level of paratext, the study analyses how the representation of the black characters heavily relies on trite stereotypes about food, sport and music. A key role in this polarisation is played by language variation, which also explains why the white characters struggle to make sense of some colloquial expressions used by the black group, ultimately misunderstanding their meaning

The pigmentary system of skin from adult specimens of the amphibian urodele Salamandra atra aurorae was investigated by light microscope, electron microscope and biochemical studies. Three chromatophore types are present in yellow skin. Xantophores are located in the epidermis. Black skin has a single type of cromatophore, the melanophores. Both skin types present some pteridines and flavins

As cartas do leitor crítico Dalton Trevisan / The Letters of the Critical Reader Dalton Trevisan

Abstract: From the reading of the personal letters published in Desgracida (2010), we proposed to reflection on who is the reader Dalton Trevisan is, revealed in his critical manifestations on works by various authors. It starts from the proposition that autobiographical elements are rare in the fictional work of the “vampire of Curitiba”, regarded as an indescribable writer. It is intended to show that, in language permeated by the same eroticism (BATAILLE, 2017) that constitutes his fictional work, Trevisan points out his literary preferences among authors with whom his work has deep connections, as well as identifies what he considers poor quality literature. The reading of the letters dialogues is related to parts of the critical fortune about the work of Trevisan (WALDMAN, 2014; SANCHES NETO, 2017) and takes advantage of contributions from the theories of reading (JOUVE, 2002) and authorship (LEJEUNE, 2008).Keywords: Dalton Trevisan; literary criticism; reading

This essay offers a thematic reading of some short stories appeared in the column that Milena Milani held in the daily newspaper La Stampa (Stampa Sera) from 1950 to 1964. In her texts, Venice is one of the cities of her youth, where to discover the everyday but also herself as a writer, a profession that will identify her spirit in life. My research also aims to highlight a brief catalogue of Milani’s short stories between the forties and the sixties that could be read in her books and in newspapers and magazines of that period. In the end, I also offer a list of her books in Italian Archives and author Funds connected to the Premio Strega: she wanted to participate to the prize in 1947 and then succeeded in 1954 and in 1964.This essay offers a thematic reading of some short stories appeared in the column that Milena Milani held in the daily newspaper La Stampa (Stampa Sera) from 1950 to 1964. Recycling Queries in PCPs and in Linearity Tests (Extended Abstract)

    No full text
] LUCA TREVISAN Abstract We study query-efficient Probabilistically Checkable Proofs (PCPs) and linearity tests. We focus on the number of amortized query bits. A testing algorithm uses ¯ q amortized query bits if, for some constant k, it reads ¯ qk bits and has error probability at most 2 \Gammak . The best known PCP construction for NP in this respect uses 3 amortized query bits [13]; at least one amortized query bit is necessary, unless P = NP [5]. This parameter is a fairly natural one and has applications to proving non-approximability results for constraint satisfaction problems. Furthermore, a PCP characterization of NP with less than 2 amortized query bits implies a separation of the PCP model from the 2-Prover 1-Round model. Our approach is to take an atomic verification procedure and then iterate it several times, saving queries by recycling them between different iterations of the atomic test. We first apply this idea in order to develop query-efficient linearity test..

The Linguistic and Identity Nomadism of the Modern Intellectual: The Case of Rosi BraidottiTo explore the territories mapped in Rosi Braidotti’s philosophical texts is like embarking on a precious field trip through the multiple facets of the postmodern, or even, the global. The landscapes we encounter are made up of fragments, mosaics, dislocations, connections and disconnections, which are perfectly organized with a stylistic rigor that accommodates different forms, from narration and philosophical theory to the treatise and poetry
