Cruise visitors’ intention to return as land tourists and recommend a visited destination. A structural equation model
This study analyses cruise visitors’ travel experience, their intention to return to a destination as land tourists and the probability to recommend. Consumer’s satisfaction is evaluated by taking into account the economic production factors, that is human and physical capital. “Satisfaction with prices” is also included to evaluate the monetary value of the overall purchasing experience. Safety in the harbour is considered as a further attribute. The empirical data were collected via a survey of cruise ship passengers that stopped in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) during 2009. A structural equation model (SEM) is developed. The findings reveal that satisfaction is positively affected by human and physical capital, while overall satisfaction positively influences customers’ loyalty. Loyalty is also positively influenced by prices, whereas negatively by an unsafe perception. Finally, loyalty positively effects both the probability of return as land tourists and to recommend, though with a different magnitude
A Classification and Regression Tree (CART) to Analyse Cruisers’ Expenditure Pattern and Perception in a Port of Call
This study analyses cruise visitors’ perceptions in a port-of-call. The empirical
data were collected via a survey in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) during 2009. A high
quality and an original database was obtained for such a niche of economy activity. The
novelty of this paper consists of a few methodological enhancements. First, a
hierarchical cluster analysis, based on the results of a correspondence analysis and two
stopping rules, has robustly demonstrated the existence of six different clusters. Second,
a CART is used to identify which variables are better predictors to classify individuals in
the different clusters. The empirical findings imply several policy directions for each of
the clusters. Specifically, institutions inte rvention should enhance security in Cartagena
to guarantee inland repeated visits; an ad hoc marketing policy may encourage revisit by
young South American customers; destination managers should extend the inland
visiting time that is likely to produce local multiplier effects
Cruisers’ intention to return as land tourists and recommend a visited destination
Abstract This study analyses cruise visitors’ travel experience, their intention to return to a
destination as land tourists and the probability to recommend the destination to others.
Consumer’s satisfaction is evaluated by taking into account the economic production factors,
that is human and physical capital. “Satisfaction with prices” is also included to evaluate the
monetary value of the overall purchasing experience. Safety in the harbour is considered as a
further attribute. The empirical data were collected via a survey of cruise ship passengers that
stopped in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) during 2009. A structural equation model (SEM) is
developed in order to test if the hypothesized model is consistent with the collected data. The
findings reveal that overall satisfaction positively influences customers’ loyalty. Loyalty is also
positively influenced by prices, whereas negatively by an unsafe perception. Finally, loyalty
positively affects both the intention of return as land tourists and to recommend, though with a different magnitud

Design for Portability of Reconfigurable Virtual Instrumentation
A portable architectural design strategy is described for the implementation of reconfigurable virtual instrumentation based on programmable Systems-on-Chip integrating microprocessors and FPGA in the same physical device. The key role is played by a general purpose communication block as a means to efficiently separate the activities carried out in the microprocessor and in the FPGA. Both parts interact according to simple logic protocols by reading and writing data on the common memory resources of the communication block. The architecture of the proposed communication system can be easily implemented in practically any modern programmable System-on-Chip. With the proposed strategy, the porting of embedded software programs and associated FPGA designs among different device families and vendors is facilitated. A structured methodology is proposed for handling complex real-time systems based on these programmable Systems-on-Chip. We described a concrete communication block that has been successfully implemented and utilized for a quick implementation of a data acquisition system based on a Xilinx Zynq-7030 FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC) and a custom FMC module with an 8-bit 500 MSPS ADC
Diffusive author(s), cohesive author: Analysis of S/N (1994)
This study indicates the ways in which various aspects of the author(s) are brought forth in Dumb type’s performance art, the S/N production. Previous research has suggested a non-hierarchical organization of Dumb type and the absence of a “privileged author” in Dumb type’s collaborative work, S/N. However, the results that I have investigated from member’s interviews on the creative process of S/N along with my analysis of the recorded images of S/N, indicate a different aspect of the author(s). First, S/N was created through, so to speak, the collective ideas of the members of Dumb type. Further, S/N has at least nine quotations from previous performances, installations, and printed writings, besides the work-in-progress technique. Explicating one of the “author functions” as given by Michel Foucault, each text has plural subjects of the author. However, it has been revealed from members’ interviews that Teiji Furuhashi had a decision-making role in selecting the members’ ideas within the performance. Since then, S/N has had plural subjects of creation; however, Furuhashi is one of the subjects of creation along with the “privileged author.” S/N has plural authors (diffusive authors) yet at the same time, it has a “privileged author,” Teiji Furuhashi (cohesive author)
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Sorex mccarthyi Matson & Ordonez-Garza 2017
40. McCarthy's Shrew Sorex mccarthyi French: Musaraigne de McCarthy / German: McCarthy-Spitzmaus / Spanish: Musarana de McCarthy Taxonomy. Sorex mccarthyi Matson & Ordonez-Garza, 2017, “ approximately 11 km SW Gracias, 2560 m, Campamento El Naranjo, Parque Nacional Celaque, Lempira, Honduras, latitude 14° 33" N, longitude 88° 40° W.” Sorex mccarthyi was only recently described and is included in the salvini group in an unnamed subgenus of Sorex. Monotypic. Distribution. Known only from Cerro Celaque, WC Honduras. Descriptive notes. Head-body 59-5 mm, tail 51-5 mm, ear 7-5 mm, hindfoot 13 mm; weight 4-2 g. McCarthy's Shrew is relatively small. Dorsum and venter are dark reddish brown. Tail is ¢.87% of head-body length and barely bicolored, being reddish brown above and slightly paler below. Lowerfirst incisor has one pigmented denticle, and unicuspid toothrow is short relative to skull width and depth compared with the San Cristobal Shrew (S. cristobalensis), Salvin’s Shrew (S. salvini), and Sclater’s Shrew (S. sclateri). There are five unicuspids, first and second are large, third is barely smaller than fourth, and fifth is minute. Teeth are pigmented dark red. Habitat.
