Personalización de aplicaciones en OO-H
Comunicación presentada en las V Jornadas Iberoamericanas de Ingeniería de Requisitos y Ambientes Software (IDEAS’02), La Habana, Cuba, abril 2002.La inclusión de políticas de personalización en el marco de métodos hipermediales influye en todos los niveles de modelado de una aplicación web. Desde OO-H mantenemos que esta política de personalización debe facilitar la definición de aspectos no conocidos a priori, lo que a su vez obliga a estos métodos a posibilitar la adaptación dinámica de las aplicaciones ante cambios imprevistos en el entorno. Este artículo presenta, en el contexto del Método Hipermedial Orientado al Objeto (Object Oriented Hypermedia (OO-H)), un marco de personalización que cumple estas características y que se vertebra en torno a cuatro elementos fundamentales: (1) un conjunto de actividades de diseño que captura la parte estática de la personalización, (2) un mecanismo de especificación de reglas, definidas en base a una plantilla XML, que constituye el modelo de personalización dinámico (3) una arquitectura de ejecución que permite el desacoplamiento de este modelo dinámico respecto al resto de modelos y minimiza el efecto de cambios en la estrategia, y (4) un repositorio extensible que incluye un conjunto de mecanismos de registro de la actividad del usuario en el sistema. La posibilidad de extensión de este repositorio facilita su adaptación a las características particulares de la aplicación modelada
OO-H Method
The mostly “creative” authoring process used to develop many Web applications during the last years has already proven unsuccessful to tackle, with its increasing complexity, both in terms of user and technical requirements. This fact has nurtured a mushrooming of proposals, most based on conceptual models, that aim at facilitating the development, maintenance and assessment of Web applications, thus improving the reliability of the Web development process. In this chapter, we will show how traditional software engineering approaches can be extended to deal with the Web idiosyncrasy, taking advantage of proven successful notation and techniques for common tasks, while adding models and constructs needed to capture the nuances of the Web environment. In this context, our proposal, the Object-Oriented Hypermedia (OO-H) Method, developed at University of Alicante, provides a set of new views that extend UML to provide a Web interface model. A code generation process is able to, departing from such diagrams and their associated tagged values, generate a Web interface capable of connecting to underlying business modules.</jats:p

WebE'2002, El Escorial, Madrid, 19 noviembre 2002.La personalización de entornos ha suscitado un gran interés desde el punto de vista de los métodos de modelado conceptual de aplicaciones web. Ello es debido al efecto que tienen las políticas de personalización sobre todo el ciclo de desarrollo de la aplicación, desde la recogida de requisitos a la propia arquitectura de ejecución. La inclusión de estrategias de personalización dinámica es una cuestión no resuelta a nivel de modelado conceptual. Desde OO-H (Object Oriented Hypermedia) creemos que el tratamiento de las propiedades relevantes que guían la construcción de un modelo conceptual con soporte de personalización es el camino más adecuado para diseñar este tipo de característica en aplicaciones web. Actualmente, la mayoría de los esfuerzos en este sentido se plantean a nivel de implementación proporcionando soluciones ad-hoc. Este artículo propone ciertas extensiones a nivel de modelado conceptual que, embebidas en los modelos de navegación y presentación de OO-H, permiten capturar una especificación XML en base a la cual se definen las reglas de personalización dinámica de una aplicación web. A partir de esta especificación, una arquitectura de ejecución dinámica basada en un motor de reglas es capaz de interpretar la parte variable de la aplicación
A COSMIC measurement procedure for sizing Web applications developed using the OO-H method
In the last years some model-driven development approaches have been proposed to automatically generate Web applications starting from conceptual models. Among them, the Object-Oriented Hypermedia method (OO-H) has been successfully used in the development of industrial Web applications. This method is based on two conceptual models, the UML class diagram to represent content and behavioral requirements, and the Navigation Access diagram to represent navigational requirements. The need of functional sizing this kind of Web applications motivated us to define a COSMIC measurement procedure to be applied on the OO-H conceptual models. In this paper, we present the mapping rules that have been conceived together with an example of their application. © 2010 ACM
A structured approach to personalize websites using the OO-H personalization framework
Most current web engineering approaches don’t have clear criteria for personalization, nor a clear strategy that designers can use to classify users and formulate a personalization strategy for the web site at design time. In this paper, we present a structured approach to personalize websites based on three criteria: characteristics, user requirements and context. The users are classified into groups of users (profile groups) based on these criteria. For each group, a personalization strategy is defined by attaching personalization rules to its profile group. The work is presented in the context of the OO-H method which’ personalization framework can be instantiated by the web designer, and connected to any OO-H based site to empower it with personalization support. Finally, we introduce a tool that allows designers to specify and generate the personalizable client-side of a web application based on this approach.This paper has been supported by Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia with the METASIGN project ref. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Navigation Analysis and Navigation Design in OO-H and UWE ⋆
Navigation Analysis: a device and platform independent navigation specification’. It presents how a navigation analysis model can be integrated in two well-known user-centered conceptual modeling approaches, namely OO-H and UWE. Our aim with this integration process is to illustrate how other user-oriented hypermedia modeling proposals might also include a similar navigation analysis model as part of their specification. Also, this paper discusses the kind of restrictions that the provision of a navigation analysis model may impose on underlying design navigation models. We claim that a navigation analysis model such as the one presented in the main paper might substitute, or at least complement, the domain structural model on which most hypermedia modeling proposals are currently basing its navigation definition.
