    Globalizzazioni. Di Fiore legge Stearns

    No full text

“Durante” in the Fiore: allusion to the author or only a character’s name? · In this article, it is observed that the author of the Fiore eliminates all the elements that allowed a clear identification of the names of the authors in the Roman de la Rose. It seems then more likely that the name “Durante” refers exclusively to the protagonist and narrator, and not to the author of the 232 sonnets

The Life and Works of Joachim of Fiore - An Overview

    No full text
Joachim of Fiore (c.1135-1202) remains one of the most fascinating and enigmatic figures of medieval Christianity. He may well be called the most influential apocalyptic thinker after the author of the Book of Revelation. In his own time, Joachim was an influential advisor to the mighty and powerful, widely respected for his prophetic exegesis and decoding of the apocalypse. This article aims to present his life and his work

The x_i-eigenvalue problem on some new fuzzy spheres

    No full text
We study the eigenvalue equation for the "Cartesian coordinates" observables x_i (i=1,2) on the fully O(2)-covariant fuzzy circle S^1_L and x_i (i=1,2,3) on the fully O(3)-covariant fuzzy 2-sphere S^2_L introduced in [G. Fiore, F. Pisacane, J. Geom. Phys. 132 (2018), 423-451]. We show that the spectrum and eigenvectors of x_i ful fill a number of properties which are expected for x_i to approximate well the corresponding coordinate operator of a quantum particle forced to stay on the unit sphere

From the Private Archive of an Apulia Writer” to an outstanding Apulia political figure, writer and journalist Tommaso Fiore. Recounting his biography, the author of the article stresses the role of Fiore in establishing the cultural dialogue between Italy and the Soviet Union. The special attention is paid to the attitude of Tommaso Fiore to the novel “Doctor Zhivago” and to the situation with Boris Pasternak being awarded with the Nobel Prize. The private materials from the archive of Fiore make it possible for the author of the article to reveal an honest and objective point of view of the commentator of the novel “Doctor Zhivago”

Fuzzy hyperspheres via confining potentials and energy cutoffs

We simplify and complete the construction of fully O(D)O(D)-equivariant fuzzy spheres SLdS^d_L, for all dimensions dD1d\equiv D-1, initiated in [G. Fiore, F. Pisacane, J. Geom. Phys. 132 (2018), 423]. This is based on imposing a suitable energy cutoff on a quantum particle in RD\mathbb{R}^D in a confining potential well V(r)V(r) with a very sharp minimum on the sphere of radius r=1r=1; the cutoff and the depth of the well diverge with LNL\in\mathbb{N}. As a result, the noncommutative Cartesian coordinates xi\overline{x}^i generate the whole algebra of observables ALA_L on the Hilbert space HLH_L; HLH_L can be recovered applying polynomials in the xi\overline{x}^i to any of its elements. The commutators of the xi\overline{x}^i are proportional to the angular momentum components, as in Snyder noncommutative spaces. HLH_L, as carrier space of a reducible representation of O(D)O(D), is isomorphic to the space of harmonic homogeneous polynomials of degree LL in the Cartesian coordinates of (commutative) RD+1\mathbb{R}^{D+1}, which carries an irreducible representation πL{\bf\pi}_L of O(D+1)O(D)O(D+1)\supset O(D). Moreover, ALA_L is isomorphic to πL(Uso(D+1)){\bf\pi}_L\left(Uso(D+1)\right). We resp. interpret {HL}LN\{H_L\}_{L\in\mathbb{N}}, {AL}LN\{A_L\}_{L\in\mathbb{N}} as fuzzy deformations of the space Hs:=L2(Sd)H_s:={\cal L}^2(S^d) of (square integrable) functions on SdS^d and of the associated algebra AsA_s of observables, because they resp. go to Hs,AsH_s,A_s as LL diverges (with \hbar fixed). With suitable =(L)L0\hbar=\hbar(L)\stackrel{L\to\infty}{\longrightarrow} 0, in the same limit ALA_L goes to the (algebra of functions on the) Poisson manifold TSdT^*S^d; more formally, {AL}LN\{A_L\}_{L\in\mathbb{N}} yields a fuzzy quantization of a coadjoint orbit of O(D+1)O(D+1) that goes to the classical phase space TSdT^*S^d.Comment: Latex file, 42 pages, 3 figures.
