(In the article a Latin poem by John Dombrowski «Dnipro Stones», which was published in 1621 is analyzed. This poem has offered one of the first holistic vision, the history of Ukraine as the ethno-political community. Its historical concept can be considered national. This poem treats Ruthenia as an independent geopolitical unit, which has opposed to the West and the East. Particular attention is paid to the Eastern aggressors – Tatars, Turks, Muscovites with which Rusich had to constantly fight. As for attitude to Western neighbors, despite the conflict with them, it is loyal. Author of «Dnipro Stones» inclined to regard Ruthenia as the part of the European world.

    Emergency Medicine

abstract: Poetry has served as my own personal emergency medicine throughout my entire life. Its ability to capture a moment in its entirety has allowed me to fully address my experiences so that I can use them as a source of personal growth rather than let them hinder me over time. For this same reason, I also believe poetry is the perfect medium to capture medical traumas. I based the poetry written in this collection on medical emergencies that I either personally experienced or witnessed firsthand shadowing the paramedics of the Anaheim Fire Department. Having the opportunity to witness medical emergencies from the perspective of first responders emphasized the uniqueness of professions in charge of handling emergency medical situations. One of the most important lessons learned from my experiences is that medical traumas are not rare, and an alarmingly high percentage of people will experience some sort of medical trauma in their lifetime. Therefore, it is incredibly important for people to be prepared to process the traumas and medical emergencies they will eventually encounter. The aim of Emergency Medicine is first and foremost to honor the individuals who are affected by medical emergencies and the first responders/emergency medical personnel who work tirelessly to preserve the lives of their patients. I also hope my poems serve as a reminder of the spontaneous nature of trauma and encourage readers to consider using poetry as a form of both healing and self-alignment. I am incredibly thankful for everyone who helped me complete this collection of poetry, however I am especially grateful for the direction given to me by Dr. Rosemarie Dombrowski

The Devil and the Deep Blue: Exploring Identity through Poetry

abstract: Poetry is a way of living for me both as a writer and as a survivor of child sexual (CSA) and physical abuse. I have been turning to poetry for as long as I can remember as a companion on my journey through my trauma, trying to figure out who exactly it is. In Devil and the Deep Blue: Exploring Identity through Poetry, I take my trauma from my past and dissect it. I have taken old poems and edited them along with the guidance of Dr. Dombrowski and Dr. McNeil as my director and second reader respectively and edited them down into a collection of micro-poems. My goal in making these poems is to both put my own trauma to rest in a way, but to also make something for other trauma survivors who may not know they are not alone. My poems are one perspective on trauma, as I can only write what I have felt, but they are meant to show that there is someone who has felt that pain, as well as trying to make myself a better person through my own writing. Along with the micro poems, there are covers that I designed using childhood photos of my father and I, of which there are only a few remaining photographs, as well as designs I drew alongside those photos. The 3rd cover is an amalgam of childhood photos of my parents as well as photos of our family today, intending to show the change in message in the poems as they progress through the collection; they begin in introspection, move into the exploration of the more piercing pieces of trauma that I had yet to even uncover until now, and then the third group of poems is focused on the calmer pieces of aftermath that I still experience and how I am trying to withstand all of that

USING A PERFORMANCE EVALUATION TO DETERMINE AN INDIVIDUALIZED INTERVENTION TO INCREASE STAFF TREATMENT INTEGRITY OF DISCRETE TRIAL TEACHING

    No full text
Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT) is a teaching method that involves fast-paced trials designed to teach basic skills by breaking them into smaller components, typically conducted in a one-on-one setting. Treatment integrity has proven to be of great importance in DTT, with skill acquisition occurring at higher rates when treatment integrity is high. While research has shown that verbal and written feedback are effective in training staff to conduct DTT, there is still a need for research on the use of individualized interventions based on performance assessments. This study used a multiple-probe across participants design, and demonstrated that a one-on-one session including interventions such as feedback, practice, treatment integrity checklists, and/or antecedent interventions is an effective method for increasing treatment integrity and implementation of DTT. The three participants that took part in the individualized interventions all displayed increases in proficiency of delivering DTT trials.Applied Behavioral Analysi

„Nie gniewaj się na mnie, że gderzę i zrzędzę”. Listy Władysława Witwickiego do Romana Ingardena (wybór)

Among the correspondence of Roman Ingarden with Polish scholars there are 40 surviving letters by Władysław Witwicki to the author of Controversy over the Existence of the World, written in the period of 1918–1923 (the first preserved letter is marked with the date of 28 May 1918, whereas the last one was written on 12 February 1923). The letters of Władysław Witwicki to Roman Ingarden are undoubtedly “philosophical”. The range of topics touched upon by the author of The Enlightened’s Faith is wide – from the polemics on the term of phenomenon (the letter from 31 May 1919), harsh opinions on Leon Chwistek (23 April 1922, 17 May 1922), to the concepts of subject, identity and essence (1 September 1922, 26 September 1922, 25 December 1922). The three presented letters by a Polish psychologist and philosopher fit within his correspondence philosophical polemics with the author of Controversy over the Existence of the World. The first two letters, from 23 April 1922 and 17 Mat 1922 concern Leon Chwistek – in particular his article entitled Wielość rzeczywistości w sztuce (The multitude of realities in art), which was published in “Maski” journal in 1918, and a famous manifesto Nuż w bżuhu. On the other hand, in the letter from 25 December 1922 Witwicki carries out a critical analysis of Ingarden’s article entitled Spór o istotę filozofii (Controversy over the essence of philosophy), which was published in “Przegląd Warszawski” in 1922.Wśród korespondencji Romana Ingardena z polskimi uczonymi zachowało się czterdzieści listów Władysława Witwickiego do autora Sporu o istnienie świata, powstałych w okresie 1918–1923 (pierwszy zachowany list jest opatrzony datą 28 maja 1918 roku, ostatni zaś został napisany 12 lutego 1923 roku).
