On abstraction refinement for program analyses in Datalog

    No full text
A central task for a program analysis concerns how to efficiently find a program abstraction that keeps only information relevant for proving properties of interest. We present a new approach for finding such abstractions for program analyses written in Datalog. Our approach is based on counterexample-guided abstraction refinement: when a Datalog analysis run fails using an abstraction, it seeks to generalize the cause of the failure to other abstractions, and pick a new abstraction that avoids a similar failure. Our solution uses a boolean satisfiability formulation that is general, complete, and optimal: it is independent of the Datalog solver, it generalizes the failure of an abstraction to as many other abstractions as possible, and it identifies the cheapest refined abstraction to try next. We show the performance of our approach on a pointer analysis and a typestate analysis, on eight real-world Java benchmark programs

Construction and Demolition Waste as Raw Materials for sustainable Cements

    No full text
In 2014 about four billion tonnes of cement were produced [CEMBUREAU, 2014]. The use of industrial by-products, as a source of raw materials in the manufacture of portland and blended cements, is a research theme of significant relevance to the construction industry. Such industrial by-products can be employed as constituents of the final product or components of the raw feed in a cement kiln. Due to their hydraulic and/or pozzolanic activity, industrial by-products are utilized worldwide. Such by-products also increase durability and reduce costs for producing blended cements. The use of such by-products as raw mixture component for the cement production has received comparatively little attention by researchers and engineers. There is currently an increasing interest towards searching for new categories of by-products, which would be able to provide reactive calcium, silicon, aluminum, and/or iron oxides, for portland cement clinker manufacture. In this regard, construction and demolition waste (C&DW) is worthy of consideration because, when obtained from a properly selective demolition process, they could be employed as alternative raw material for portland clinker production. The present study deals with the use of two different kinds of C&DW, namely concrete waste (CW) and masonry waste (MW). In this study, C&DW is proposed to be employed as partial or total substitute for limestone and clay, respectively, in the portland clinker generating raw mixture. Four ternary mixtures containing limestone, as well as CW and MW, were subjected to laboratory tests in order to evaluate the clinker raw mixture produced and the performance of the related portland cement. A binary mixture, composed of limestone and clay, was used as a reference. All of these different cements displayed similar hydration behavior. Detailed results are presented and discussed

KEBIJAKAN ONGKOS NAIK HAJI (ONH) DI INDONESIA TAHUN 1960-1975 M

    No full text

Single channel surface electromyogram deconvolution is a useful pre-processing for myoelectric control

    No full text
Myoelectric control requires fast and stable identification of a movement from data recorded from a comfortable and straightforward system. Here we consider a new real-time pre-processing method applied to a single differential surface electromyogram (EMG): deconvolution, providing an estimation of the cumulative firings of motor units. A 2 channel-10 class finger movement problem has been investigated on 10 healthy subjects. We have compared raw EMG and deconvolution signals, as sources of information for two specific classifiers (based on either Support Vector Machines or k-Nearest Neighbours), with classical time-domain input features selected using Mutual Component Analysis. The overall results show that, using the proposed pre-processing technique, classification performances statistically improve. For example, the true positive rates of the best-tested configurations were 80.9% and 86.3% when using the EMG and its deconvoluted signal, respectively. Even considering the limited dataset and range of classification approaches investigated, these preliminary results indicate the potential usefulness of the deconvolution pre-processing, which could be easily embedded in different myoelectric control applications

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    No full text
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
