THE EMERGENCE OF MATERIALISM AND ISLAMIC VIEW UPON IT
Materialism is an understanding that states that something invisible (can’t be sensed) did not exist. That is, the unseen world (including God, angels, jinn, etc.) does not exist. Because it can’t be sensed by humans. So if so, how Islam views the concept? Where in the Islamic religion teaches the unseen world which is summarized in the pillars of faith. Automatic if Muslims agree with the materialism, then it will greatly affect the faith. For this reason, this paper tries to explain the essence of the concept of Materialism, by reviewing the definition and history, which at this time will review the opinions of the philosophers of ancient Greece is also one of the teachings of India, Carvaka. At the end of the analysis will be presented how should a Muslim respond to the concept of this materialism.
Terminologi Wasaṭiyah dalam al-Qur’an
This paper discusses the concept of wasaṭiyah as one of seminal concept in several verses of al-Qur’an. The research focuses on five verses of al-Qur’an representing words of wasaṭiyah. The words are: wasaṭan (fair and chosen people) in al-Baqarah [2]: 143, fawasaṭna (middle) in al-‘Ādiyāt [100]: 5, awsaṭ (from average food) in al-Maidah [5]: 89, awsaṭuhum (the most moderate of them) in al-Qalam [68]: 28, and al-wusṭa (salah of wusṭa) in al-Baqarah [2]: 238. According to its etymology, there is no strong correlation among these words. However, if it approached further by study tafseer, the correlation of one another will be found. Wasaṭiyah is the seminal concept, which should be existed in every Muslim life. It has its own characteristics, which demonstrate the existence of people who admitted themselves as Muslim. Such as to be justice, to avoid the despot, to be truthful, and the all of these features prove is them as good people. In other hand, these words have similarity in accordance with the terms of definition and terminology. It can be traced from the views of Muslim Scholars such as Abdullah Abdul Muhsin al-Turkiy, Abdullah bin Sulaiman al-Ghafili, and Ali Muhammad al-Salabiy
Analysis of Rainfall Intensity in Madiun Watershed, East Java
The aim of the reasearch in the area of Madiun River Basin is to make and to analyze the Intensity Duration Curve (IDC) i.e. the curve describing graphically the relation between rainfall intensity and rainfall duration in a certain frequent period. Formulation used in the research was Talbot Formula and Ishiguro’s. In the drafting of Intensity Duration Curve it was used specific coefficient i.e by using the rainfall data of fifteen and sixty duration for both applied formulations. The IDC recorded has not mean difference because in both formulation was used coefficient of the same value. The pattern of the rainfall intensity occured directed toward Nort East. It was happened because of the moving clouds directed toward that course. Depression occured at the backward of Mount Lawu, exactly toward East
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Paguyuban Sumarah and Interrituality: An Enquiry to The Practice of Interreligious Ritual Participation in Sujud Sumarah
Paguyuban Sumarah is one well-known aliran kepercayaan in
Indonesia existed since the 1930s. The group practised Sujud
Sumarah as the most essential ritual attended by the whole member of
organizations from multiple religious backgrounds and identities,
gathering them in a venue of interreligious ritual participation. This
paper will discuss the aspect of interrituality in Sujud Sumarah,
considering it is practised by multi-religious believers through the
discourse-analysis method following the framework of interrituality
offered by Moyaert, an interreligious scholar from Vrije Universiteit
Amsterdam. This research concludes that it is acceptable to define the
implementation of Sujud Sumarah as an interreligious ritual
participation, yet it could not explicitly be categorized as ‘inner-facing’
or ‘outer-facing’ interrituality as it was classified by Moyaert. This
paper also demonstrated, in general, the fundamental system of belief
of Sumarah was derived from syncretism and transcendent unity of
religions, leading the discussion to be possibly elaborated further in
the study of interreligious relations
Relasi Agama, Ilmu dan Peradaban, Perspektif Malik Bennabi
Artikel ini untuk menemukan kerangka konsep peradaban dan korelasinya
dengan ilmu dan agama dalam pandangan Bennabi. Kajian ini menjelaskan
signifikansi ilmu dan agama sebagai dasar dari sebuah peradaban dari pandangan
Bennabi, seorang sosiolog Muslim kontemporer dan fenomenal. Dengan
menggunakan metode deskriptif analitis, tulisan ini mencoba menjawab
pertanyaan mengenai faktor-faktor mendasar yang menganalisis corak pemikiran
Bennabi tentang teori dan konsepsi peradaban yang mampu mengubah sejarah
kemanusiaan. Artikel ini memunculkan temuan, bahwa sebuah peradaban
terbentuk dari tiga unsur yaitu manusia, tanah dan waktu, melalui katalisator dan
anasir mendasar, berupa agama. Merupakan lingkungan yang mengitari mereka,
tanah tempat mereka bergerak yang menyumbangkan peradaban. Dimulai dari
titik awal yang merupakan misi profetik yang mengubah dan memberdayakan.
Peran utama agama sebagai passion yang esensial dalam proses pembentukan
peradaban ini bisa dianalisis pada perannya dalam mengubah menjadi pribadi
yang mengambil peran aktif di masyarakat, dalam mengubah pola interaksi
manusia itu dengan tanah (tempat dan karakteristik sosialnya), selain itu dalam\ud
mengubah pandangan manusia terhadap waktu, dari sekadar durasi menjadi
waktu sosial yang lebih bernilai. Bennabi menegaskan bahwa fikrah keagamaan
tersebut harus mampu menggerakkan jiwa (rûh) sebagai sumber perubahan.
Bahkan pemikiran keagamaan yang suara jiwanya telah terbebaskan dari belitan
naluri, sesudah akidah melandasi seluruh aktivitasnya dan dengan ilmu yang
melandasi fungsi sosial yang melahirkan sejarah sehingga membentuk seluruh
karakter masyarakat berperadaban

The Catholic Church of Santa Maria Lourdes, Puhsarang, Kediri, is
one of the churches of the last architectural works of Henri Meclaine
Pont, has a section of the Maria Lourdes Cave and a statue of the
Golgotha Cross with a different shape from other Catholic churches.
Until now the Puhsarang church has become a place of pilgrimage
for Catholics in worship as well as being a religious tourism object.
With the shape of the symbol of the way of the cross made with a
larger size than other churches. To find out the meaning contained
in the symbol of the Way of the Cross, the researcher used the
approach based on Clifford Greetz's symbol theory, namely the
anthropological approach which was carried out by means of field
research and the research results were obtained from observations
and interviews
Kajian Matriks Bujur Sangkar yang bersifat Komutatif terhadap operasi perkalian
ABSTRAK
Matriks adalah sekumpulan bilangan real atau kompleks yang disusun menurut baris dan kolom sehingga membentuk jajaran persegi panjang dan disajikan dalam tanda kurung atau kurung siku-siku. Penjumlahan dua matriks A dan B dapat dilakukan jika kedua matriks tersebut berordo sama. Operasi penjumlahan matriks berlaku sifat komutatif (A + B = B + A) dan asosiatif (A + (B + C) = ((A + B) + C). Namun pada operasi perkalian pada matriks secara umum sifat komutatif tidak berlaku. Jika A dan B adalah matriks yang berorodo m x n dan n x p, maka perkalian AB senantiasa dapat dilakukan, tetapi BA hanya dapat dilakukan jika p - m. Untuk p = m perkalian AB akan menghasilkan sebuah matriks bujur sangkar dengan ordo n x n, maka satu-satunya jalan yang masih memungkinkan agar matriks A dan B bersifat komutatif (AB = BA) adalah untuk m = n. Secara umum dapat disimpulkan bahwa syarat perlu agar perkalian antara matriks A dan B bersifat komutatif, keduanya harus matriks bujur sangkar dengan ordo yang sama, namun syarat ini bukan merupakan syarat yang cukup, sebab banyak perkalian matriks-mariks bujur sangkar sama tidak bersifat komutatif
Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah dengan mengkaji literatur yang diperoleh untuk memecahkan masalah penelitian kemudian diuraikan dan disajikan secara benar cmathematically correct) dalam bentuk definisi-definisi maupun fenomena-fenomena yang dibuktikan secara logis dan menggunakan aksioma (analisis) dan fenomena yang sudah dibuktikan sebelumnya. Inti dari penyelesaiannya adalah memperoleh ciri-ciri matriks yang bersifat komutatif terhadap operasi perkalian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan ciri-ciri matriks yang bersifat komutatif terhadap operasi perkalian.
Dari pembahasan (analisis) yang dilakukan maka dapat diketahui bahwa matriks bujur sangkar yang bersifat komutatif terhadap operasi perkalian adalah perkalian matriks dengan dirinya sendiri, perkalian matriks dengan invers jumlahnya (lawannya), perkalian matriks dengan matriks nol, perkalian matriks dengan matriks identitas, perkalian matriks dengan invers perkaliannya, perkalian matriks dengan elemen sama, perkalian matriks dengan matriks scalar, perkalian matriks dengan adjointnya dan perkalian matriks diagonal
