The Socio-Economic Structure of Giresun Fishermen
WOS: 000444528000041This study aims that determining the Turkish province of Giresun's fishing and social-economic state. 630 boats from across the province were categorized according to their lengths as well as densities: those smaller than 8 m, 8 - 11.9 m, 12 - 29.9 m, those larger than 30m. 167 boats were surveyed using the layered exemplification technique, and took a look at the fishing vessels in question's owners, the socio-economic characteristics of the crew, current problems, and solutions to those problems. Kinetic Analysis of the Amino Terminal End of Active Site Loop of Lactate Deyhdrogenase from Plasmodium Vivax
Objective: In this study, kinetic analysis was performed to understand the functional importance of the amino terminal of the active site of previously mutated Plasmodium vivax Lactate Dehydrogenase enzyme by mimicking Toxoplasma gondii I, II, Eimeria acervulina and Eimeria tenella LDH's. Material and Methods: Mutant LDH genes were amplified by PCR and 6xHistag was added to the C-terminal of the enzymes. Then LDH enzymes are overproduced as recombinant in E. coli cells, purified by Ni-NTA agarose matrix and kinetic properties were analysed. Results: Observing increase of K-m values of mutant enzymes showed that mutations in this place caused decreasing affinity of enzyme for its substrate. However k(cat) values were about the same throughout all mutant proteins. Conclusion: Sensitivity of the studied region emphasizes the significance of this site for drug design studies for both Plasmodium and some other Apicomplexans

Effect of Zero Air Change Rate On Particle Dispersion in A Room with Floor Heating
Dispersion of airborne particles in the office and residential areas should be well known as these particles in an enclosed volume has a significant effect on human health. In this study, the effect of the floor heating system, which is often preferred by end users due to the energy efficiency of low heating systems, on particle distribution in a room was investigated numerically. It is essential to examine the floor heating having a significant place among low heating systems, concerning particle dispersion. In enclose volumes, ambient air should be replaced with fresh air that is supplied from outdoor in order to ensure indoor air quality. However, the ideal air change rates may not be met for daily use, even in some cases air change rates might be zero. Therefore, in this study absence of air change were assumed, and after temperature and velocity distributions were determined, five different sized particles were tracked by using Eulerian-Lagrangian model. Additionally, three heating capacities (35 W/m2 41.25 W/m2 and 47 W/m2) of the floor heating system were investigated. In this study, where computational fluid dynamics were used, the effect of drag, lift, thermophoretic and Brownian forces were considered. It was found that particles were settled on walls and ceiling due to zero air change rate, and particle concentration rises in the lower part of the wall as particle diameter increases

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
