    Reading Pilch in the strict sense. About the influence of self-referentiality on the formation of the public persona of Jerzy Pilch The essential focus of this article is the issue of the “trap of self-referentiality” that Jerzy Pilch and his audience fell into. The aim of the article is to trace Pilch’s autobiographical and self-referentiality comments and examine how they affected the reception of his image, as well as the interpretation of his persona. The analysis of various commentaries allows the author to carefully trace the intricacies of the public persona created by Jerzy Pilch, a persona that became for him both a popularizing trademark and a burden for a sensitive man. Hanik shows that Pilch destined himself to such a fate, over the years meticulously creating the image, that he maintained in interviews, numerous speeches and numerous autobiographical novels. This earned him both a crowd of loyal fans and a group of harsh critics. The author sketches Pilch’s image emerging from these statements in order to retrace where it was disturbed, and to analyze the statements, reviews and comments on his persona that reinforced this image or undermined its authenticity. Finally, the article shows that the creation of one of the first such distinctive media personas in the Polish literary market, was at the same time the creation of one of Pilch’s characters, one of the most difficult to interpret

    Disiplin merupakan salah satu nilai karakter yang perlu ditanamkan pada anak sejak dini. Keluarga berperan penting dalam membentuk karakter anak namun problematika orang tua yang sibuk bekerja mengakibatkan pembinaan anak di lingkungan keluarga kurang optimal. Faktor kesibukan tersebut tidak menjadikan orang tua lepas tangan, berbagai upaya di tempuh salah satunya dengan menyeleksi lingkungan pendidikan yang terbaik. Pondok pesantren menawarkan tempat penanaman disiplin dengan mengaplikasikan nilai agama sehingga dewasa ini orang tua tertarik mendaftarkan anaknya ke pondok pesantren. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan strategi penanaman karakter disiplin dan dampaknya pada kedisiplinan anak usia 5-6 tahun di Pondok Tahfidh Putri Anak-anak Yanaabii’ul Qur’an Kudus. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian fenomenologi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah santri putri anak-anak rentang usia 5-6 tahun yang berjumlah 26 anak. Teknik pengambilan subjek penelitian dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Uji validitas data yang digunakan yaitu triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan model analisis interaktif meliputi kondensasi data, menyajikan data, dan menarik kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa strategi PTPA Yanaabii’ul Qur’an menanamkan karakter santrinya dengan disiplin terhadap waktu, disiplin menegakkan aturan, dan disiplin ketika bersikap. Penanaman tersebut berdampak pada munculnya karakter kedisiplinan anak usia 5-6 tahun yaitu sikap santri yang tepat waktu, dapat memperkirakan waktu untuk menyelesaikan sesuatu, menggunakan benda sesuai fungsinya, mengambil dan mengembalikan benda pada tempatnya, menaati aturan yang telah disepakati, sabar dan tertib menunggu giliran, serta memiliki kepekaan jika tidak disiplin

    The aim of this article is to show that the strategy of demythologizing one’s own experiences applied by Stasiuk in his autobiography entitled Jak zostałem pisarzem constitutes a ‘play on taboos’. To this end, the author analyses the narrative strategies manifested within the writer’s autobiographical statements, especially those that trivialize and demythologize events that were constituting a kind of ‘generational experience’ for Stasiuk’s generation. Such a strategy of portraying oneself proves to be a kind of ‘play on taboos’, which in this case can be defined as a certain imperative of portraying ‘the experience of basic military service’ and ‘the experience of underground activity’ in People's Republic of Poland

    Recent Results From the EU POF-PLUS Project: Multi-Gigabit Transmission Over 1 mm Core Diameter Plastic Optical Fibers

    Recent activity to achieve multi-gigabit transmission over 1 mm core diameter graded-index and step-index plastic optical fibers for distances up to 50 meters is reported in this paper. By employing a simple intensity-modulated direct-detection system with pulse amplitude or digital multi-tone modulation techniques, low-cost transceivers and easy to install large-core POFs, it is demonstrated that multi-gigabit transmission up to 10 Gbit/s over 1-mm core diameter POF infrastructure is feasible. The results presented in this paper were obtained in the EU FP7 POF-PLUS project, which focused on applications in different scenarios, such as in next-generation in-building residential networks and in datacom applications

    The Use of Person Deixis as Address System In Literary Works

    Deixis is one of topics in Pragmatics that always be studied by researchers on their own reason. This research is a study of person deixis as address system within novel entitled Their Eyes Were Watching God from Zora Neale Hurston and story book Friday Black by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah as the source of data in this study, which the author of each book is Black people. The purpose of analyzing, the writer would like to analyze the system address system in both sources and look for the address system from the sources. The data were collected by library research method. The collected data were identified, categorized, and analyzed. The writer analyzed the data by using Levinson’s theory as method of analyzing the source data. The finding of the research is from two literary works the type that appears frequently is first-person deixis such as I, Ah, Ah’m from Their Eyes Were Watching God and I from Friday Black. The person deixis as address system that use in term of formal and informal dialogue. The last is the factors that affected the address system in both literary works.Keywords: deixis; address system; black cultural background

    مستخلص البحث طلاب المدرسة مجاهدين المتوسطة الإسلامية كينديلان سامبونج بلورا لديهم بمشكلات في تعلم اللغة العربية، منها: 1) كثير منهم الذين اقل قادرة على قراءة و كتابة حروف العربي. 2) اقل الميول في تعلم اللغة العربية. و تجارب الباحثة تحلل هذه المشكلات بكتاب المجسم لترقية مهارة الكلام. إذا يفهم الطلاب المادة من الأول شفهية (تحدثا)، فهم سيتعلون بالحمسة. بمهارة الكلام فيدعم مهارة القراءة و مطور مهارة الكتابة أيضا. و كتاب المجسم هو وسيلة من وسائل الجذاب الذي سيرقى الميول في تعلمهم. بهدف هذا على: 1) لوصف كيفية اعداد الكتاب المجسّم لترقية مهارة الكلام. 2) لقياس مدى فعالية الكتاب المجسم لترقية مهارة الكلام. استخدمت الباحثة منهج البحث والتطوير لكتابة هذا البحث. وهو طريقة البحث المستخدمة للحصول على نتائج معينة وتجربة فعالية. ولاتمام هذا البحث استخدمت الباحثة الخطوات لبورج وجال (Borg and Gall). ونتائج هذا البحث هي: 1) يتم هذا البحث بالخطوات: تحليل الإحتياجات والمشكلات و جمع المعلومات و تصميم الإنتاج وتصديق الخبراء و تعديل الإنتاج و تجربة الصلاحية و تعديل الإنتاج و تجربة الفعالية و تنقيح الإنتاج 2) إن استخدم هذا الكتاب المجسّم فعالة لترقية مهارة الكلام و تحصل نتيجة على 9،26. بمعنى لهذا الكتاب المجسم المطور له أثر كبير (Significant) أي فعالة لنجاح الطلاب في تعليم مهارة الكلام اللغة العربية. ABSTRACT Students of Mujahidin Islamic Junior High Schools have problems in learning Arabic language , such us: 1) most of the students still can’t reading and writing Arabic letter.2) Less spirit of Arabic language learning, there for the author tries to analyze this problems by using Pop Up Book for improvement speaking skills. Because if the students understand the subject verbally (speaking) from the first time, so they will study hard. By speaking skills will support reading skills and will develop writing skills too. Pop Up Book is the interesting media that can improve their spirit of study. This reseach aims: 1) To describe the way of providing Pop Up Book for improving speaking skills. 2) To measure how effective providing Pop Up Book for improving speaking skills. In this reseach, researcher uses reseach and development method. The method is used to produce a product and to test the effectiveness. To complete this research, the researcher uses Borg and Gall research and development steps. At last the results of this reseach are: 1) the reseach was done by the following steps: analysis of necessity and problems, data collection, product design, validation experts, product revision, field testing product, product revision, effectiveness test and final product revision; 2) this effectiveness test result shows 9,26 grade which indicates that this product has great effect (significant), it’s very effective for the successful of learning Arabics in speaking skills. ABSTRAK Para siswa Mts Mujahidin mengalami beberapa masalah dalam mempelajari bahasa Arab, di antaranya: 1) para siswa masih banyak yang kurang bisa membaca dan menulis huruf Arab. 2) kurangnya minat terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Arab. Dan penulis mencoba memecahkan masalah ini dengan buku pop up untuk peningkatan kemahiran berbicara. Karena jika para siswa menguasai materi dari awal secara verbal (berbicara), maka mereka akan belajar dengan semangat. Dengan kemahiran berbicara maka akan mendukung kemahiran membaca dan kemudian juga akan mengembangkan kemahiran menulis. Dan buku pop up merupakan media menarik yang akan meningkatkan minat belajar mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan 1) Untuk mendiskripsikan cara pembuatan buku Pop Up kemahiran berbicara bahasa Arab. 2) Untuk mengukur sejauh mana efektifitas buku Pop Up kemahiran berbicara bahasa Arab. Dalam penulisan tesis ini peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan. Yaitu, sebuah metode yang digunakan untuk menghasilkan produk tertentu dan uji efektifitas. Dan untuk menyelesaikan penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan langkah-langkah penelitian dan pengembangan dari Borg dan Gall. Dan hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: 1) Penelitian ini terselesaikan dengan langkah-langkah berikut: analisis kebutuhan dan masalah, pengumpulan data, desain produk, validasi ahli, revisi produk, uji produk kelompok kecil, revisi produk, uji efektifitas dan penyempurnaan produk akhir. 2) Adapun hasil dari uji efektifitas adalah produk ini sangat efektif dengan nilai 9, 26 yang artinya buku pop up yang dibuat memiliki pengaruh yang sangat besar (signifikan) atau sangat efektif untuk keberhasilan pembelajaran kemahiran berbicara bahasa Arab

    This study intends to reveal singularities of the schooling process and the social experience of children's learning and the seriously ill teenager who studies at the hospital, from the web of social relations that sustains and means their life trajectories. For this, were analyzed the narrative of life oral history from two student paciente who study at Escola Móvel/Aluno Específico do Instituto de Oncologia Pediátrica- Grupo de Apoio ao Adolescente e à Criança com Câncer/Universidade Federal de São Paulo; under qualitative guidance from the experiences shared in their narratives, this research sought the meanings attributed by the subjects themselves, the phenomena relating to time at the hospital. The method applied to narrative, was the discourse analysis developed by the french stream, mainly represented by Patrick Charaudeau. This author guide us on the systematization of narratives about the perception of internal and external pressures that compose the speeches. Thus, the oral narrative of life history assumed to speeches, allowed emerge the meanings constructed in the field of inter-subjectivity. This is because, although it is not possible to absolutely distinguish the different situational and linguistic pressures that make them up, leading us to the sensitive perception about child and / or seriously ill teenager as social being and historically situated, that during treatment, continues to build stories and identities; individual and collective. The analyzes are founded on theoretical frameworks of Phenomenology and Critical Theory; primordially the contributions of Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Axel Honneth. They guided us, his assertions about the body as a phenomenon that been constitute in the field of intersubjectivity; and that, the tool of relationship between organism and world, allows us to take it as a space of identity construction of the subjects; common place of health and learning. Realizing the body that relates to the world as the same body who learns, we must understand that with the new hospital routine, these subject seriously ill, as their families, and the necessity to redraw the relationships that weave with the social environment; and also with the school. This, needs to be re-signified in the ways that is been thought and experienced. And in order to let emerge such reinterpretation from the experiences of the subjects, the epistemological basis afforded by Phenomenology extrapolates the reflections in the direction of the analysis. However, working with children and adolescents narratives is an exciting challenge, and despite being common to find studies on cognition and diction in childhood, few is the content of their speech, about their signs and meanings, elements of the concern of this research. Through discourse analysis method applied to Oral Narratives of Life History, we believe contribute to the reflections and practices in the care of these children and adolescents who continue to study times of sick body; place of relationships and concerns in health and education; space of care and learning.O presente trabalho pretende desvelar singularidades do processo de escolarização e da experiência social de aprendizagem da criança e do(a) adolescente gravemente enfermo(a) que estuda no hospital, a partir da teia de relações sociais que sustenta e significa suas trajetórias de vida. Para tanto, foram analisadas as narrativas de história oral de vida de dois(as) alunos(as)- paciente que estudaram na Escola Móvel/Aluno Específico do Instituto de Oncologia Pediátrica- Grupo de Apoio ao Adolescente e à Criança com Câncer/Universidade Federal de São Paulo; e se encontram atualmente fora de tratamento. Sob orientação qualitativa, a partir das experiências compartilhadas nas narrativas, esta investigação buscou as significações atribuídas pelos próprios sujeitos, aos fenômenos referentes aos tempos de escolarização no hospital. O método aplicado às narrativas, foi a Análise do Discurso desenvolvida pela corrente francesa, representada principalmente por Patrick Charaudeau. Este autor nos orientou na sistematização das narrativas sobre a percepção das pressões internas e externas que compõem os discursos. Assim, as narrativas de história oral de vida assumidas como discursos, permitiram emergir as significações construídas no campo da intersubjetividade. Isto porque, apesar de não ser possível distinguir absolutamente as diferentes pressões situacionais e linguísticas que as compõem, nos direcionam à percepção sensível sobre essa criança e/ou adolescente gravemente enfermo(a) como ser sociohistoricamente situado, que durante o tratamento, continua construindo histórias e identidades; individuais e coletivas. As análises se alicerçam em referenciais teóricos da Fenomenologia e da Teoria Crítica; primordialmente, nas contribuições de Maurice MerleauPonty e Axel Honneth. Nos orientaram, suas asserções acerca do corpo como fenômeno que se constitui no campo da intersubjetividade; e que, instrumento das relações entre organismo e mundo, nos permite assumi-lo como espaço da construção identitária dos sujeitos; lugar comum da saúde e da aprendizagem. Ao perceber o corpo que se relaciona com o mundo, como o mesmo corpo que aprende, é preciso compreender que com a nova rotina hospitalar, esses sujeitos gravemente enfermos, bem como suas famílias, precisam reelaborar as relações que tecem com o entorno social; e assim, também com a escola. Esta, precisa ser ressignificada nas formas como é pensada e experienciada. E no sentido de deixar emergir tais ressignificações a partir das experiências dos sujeitos, a base epistemológica propiciada pela Fenomenologia extrapola as reflexões no sentido das análises. Contudo, trabalhar com narrativas de crianças e adolescentes é um desafio estimulante, e apesar de ser comum encontrarmos estudos sobre cognição e dicção na infância, pouco se encontra sobre o conteúdo de suas falas, sobre seus signos e significações, elementos que constituem a preocupação da presente pesquisa.     Return level analysis of the hanumante river using structured expert judgment: A reconstruction of historical water levels

    Like other cities in the Kathmandu Valley, Bhaktapur faces rapid urbanisation and population growth. Rivers are negatively impacted by uncontrolled settlements in flood-prone areas, lowering permeability, decreasing channels widths, and waste blockage. All these issues, along with more extreme rain events during the monsoon due to climate change, have led to increased flooding in Bhaktapur, especially by the Hanumante River. For a better understanding of flood risk, the first step is a return level analysis. For this, historical data are essential. Unfortunately, historical records of water levels are non-existent for the Hanumante River. We measured water levels and discharge on a regular basis starting from the 2019 monsoon (i.e., June). To reconstruct the missing historical data needed for a return level analysis, this research introduces the Classical Model for Structured Expert Judgment (SEJ). By employing SEJ, we were able to reconstruct historical water level data. Expert assessments were validated using the limited data available. Based on the reconstructed data, it was possible to estimate the return periods of extreme water levels of the Hanumante River by fitting a Generalized Extreme Value (GEV) distribution. Using this distribution, we estimated that a water level of about 3.5 m has a return period of ten years. This research showed that, despite considerable uncertainty in the results, the SEJ method has potential for return level analyses.Support Hydraulic EngineeringWater ResourcesApplied Probabilit
