Selçuk Baran, one of the women of letters in the Republican Era, is one of our infectious writes whose literature success was recognized after his death. Although he received law education, he turned towards literature, which he had interested in since his childhood, and mostly wrote short stories. In his works, he gave place for unhappy, desperate women and men who could not hold on to life. The author, being introvert, experienced the sadness of not being noticed in the literary circles and wrote about this in his dairies before his death. In spite of all these, the author, whose quality in language and style won general approval after his death, is one of the important names in our literature. The aim of this thesis is to study Selçuk Baran in terms of his ?Life, Works and Art?. Thus, the position of the author in Turkish Literature will be determined definitely

    Józef Baran: Humanismo y poesía

    No full text
Traditionally regarded as apolitical, the poetical work by Józef Baran aclually represents a lucid and coherent attempt to vindicate human dignity. Consequently, an ultimate concern of this poetry is the reason of suffering, while a recurrent topic is a self-restrained sense of carpe diem, which often leads to an enlightening inquity into perennial metaphysical questions (life, death, eternity, God). Baran's Poetics rather reflects his main concerns and his personal ethics: his distinctive, personal style (plain, direct, sometimes ironic, sometimes lyric, resembies a dialogic resort, which consciously urges his reader to jointly discuss those philosophical questions raised by the author in his poems

The aspect of mutual concessions is also discussed. The violation of the problem of justified interest is considered. No full text
The article introduces the present issue, which focuses on Marxist interpretations of the crisis. The author describes and puts into context Claudio Napoleoni’s interpretation of the labour theory of value and Baran and Sweezy’s Monopoly Capital. The article highlights how Napoleoni’s interpretation, which was at the time very unconventional, was later substantiated by the publication of new material by the two US economists (Sweezy in particular). The author concludes with some reflections of the applicability of Napoleoni’s ideas to the current stage of capitalism

Reguła średniookresowego celu budżetowego w Unii Europejskiej

    No full text
The article analyzes the nature and importance of the so-called Medium-Term Budgetary Objective (MTO) in the financial system of the European Union. The author discusses the MTO calculation method, which is consistent with the requirements of the EU’s Stability and Growth Pact. Baran also compares the results of the calculations with objectives declared by EU member states in their 2012 stability/convergence programs and assesses the effectiveness of the MTO. The role of the MTO in the EU financial system has evolved over the years, the author notes. In the first few years after the establishment of the euro area, nominal convergence criteria played the most important role. The MTO was expected to gain greater significance after the first change to the Stability and Growth Pact in 2005. The underlying idea behind the MTO was to provide a margin of safety in order to facilitate the maintenance of the fiscal balance and public debt within the limits specified in the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU). However, the adopted solutions proved to be ineffective, according to Baran, due to a lack of enforcement mechanisms combined with an inadequate mix of expansionary and pro-cyclical fiscal policies. In the future, the role of the MTO in the EU financial system may increase due to factors including the latest financial and economic crisis, the author says. Under the huge fiscal imbalances and high public debt levels in various EU economies (in 2012 the average debt ratio in the euro area stood at 93% of GDP), the MTO has been assigned a new role - to support the process of restoring the bloc’s fiscal stability, Baran notes. Since 2009, the MTO has been more strongly influenced by the level of debt, the author says. Countries with debt levels higher than a reference value must make an “extra effort” to reduce their debt. Moreover, implicit liabilities in the form of future costs related to population aging have become a new factor shaping the MTO. The rules according to which the MTO is designed have been standardized, but they have also become more complex. The MTO targets for the most heavily indebted countries are now more demanding. The effectiveness of the MTO as a fiscal rule will largely depend on its enforcement as part of the fiscal surveillance process and on the determination of member states in pursuing adjustments, the author concludes

Exploring master's level science teachers' views on the implementation and challenges of STEAM education

    No full text
This study explores science teachers' perspectives on STEAM education. The participants were sixteen teachers enrolled in a master's program in Science Education at a public university. A purposive sampling technique was used to select these 16 science teachers as participants. Data were collected using eight open-ended structured interview forms. The data were analyzed through qualitative content analysis. The findings suggest that science teachers viewed STEAM education as focused on the end product and promoting continuous learning. They defined STEAM by providing examples of its design, the activities involved, and its impact on learning. Science teachers held positive attitudes toward using STEAM education, emphasizing its ability to make real-life connections for students. They also identified various challenges related to implementing STEAM education, including issues with educational resources such as a lack of time, insufficient learning materials, large class sizes, budget limitations, inadequate curriculum and physical facilities, and individual challenges faced by both teachers and students. The study concludes that addressing these challenges is essential, especially when implementing STEAM education activities. Providing appropriate physical conditions, adequate in-service training for teachers, and pre-service training for prospective teachers are considered vital for the future development of high-quality STEAM education

A Picture of Chemistry: A Case Study from High Schools (Hakkari Sample)

    No full text
This research aims to draw a picture of chemistry lessons based on students’ opinions in Hakkari, Turkey. The research design is a case study. An open-ended qualitative questionnaire consisting of 15 questions was used. The questionnaire was applied to 463 tenth- and eleventh-grade students studying at high schools in Hakkari. The data obtained were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative methods: content analysis, correlation tests, and chi-square tests. As a result, two categories were found: the factors affecting chemistry teaching and the effect of chemistry on students’ daily and future lives. According to this, students’ interest in chemistry is a factor in learning chemistry, the teaching method used by the teacher is an essential factor for chemistry, and having enough knowledge of chemistry affects achievement in other courses. A significant difference was found between female and male students choosing chemistry in their future careers, and the results were in favor of male students. On the contrary, female students thought that chemistry would be more permanent than males thought in their lives. The activities used in chemistry lessons, teachers’ attitudes in the classroom, and the use of chemistry examples in daily life are effective for learning chemistry and choosing chemistry for a future career.publishedVersio
