In WMSNs, wirelessly interconnected devices enable to ubiquitously retrieve multimedia contents such as video and audio streams, and still images along with scalar data from surroundings for wide range of applications are constrained by processing, memory, and energy resources. Image compression via low-complexity and resource eficient transforms has been addressed by several researchers to prolong network lifetime where energy conservation is achieved through sharing computational load among sensor nodes and by adjusting the transmission ranges of camera nodes. However, those scheme are not adaptive to the presences and changes of energy-level of computational sensor nodes and to the amount of computational load. In this master degree thesis, we propose a resource and energy eficient distributed image compression algorithm that dynamically con_x000C_gures according to the energy-levels of computational nodes and the forwarding strategy that is based on the entropy of the image. The simulation results show that our adaptive distributed image compression scheme signi_x000C_cantly prolong the network lifetime and improve network utilization eficiency, while maintaining adequate image quality

This research purpose is to study the factor influencing consumers’ eWOM intention among generation Y towards travel destination. Electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) have received significant attention in recent years which could influence the purchasing decisions of consumers. Thus, eWOM can happen in an online communities such as communities of practice and online communities of interest. However, there is lack of understanding of motivation of consumers for exchanging information and knowledge online. EWOM can be seen in online consumers platforms such as consumer reviews websites, blogs, forum and social media sites, travel communities and many more. For example, tourists will search for information at TripAdvisor about a place they want to visit before making a purchasing decision. Therefore, this research will be focus on the population of generation Y and 101 sets of questionnaire was distributed in order to measure the data. This study also shows that 55.4% of the variance which includes egoism, collectivism, enjoyment of helping and moral obligation is significantly related to consumers’ eWOM intention. The results from this study shows that enjoyment of helping is the strongest factor that influence consumers’ eWOM intention

Relationship between the water number of ointment bases and the in vitro release of medicaments / Muhammad Ikram Harizon

Water number of ointment bases may be defined as the largest amount of water held by 100 gm of the base at definite temperature. In this study, it seemed interesting to find whether the water number of the ointment base affects the release of medicament from them. Both oleaginous and absorption ointment bases were chosen for this study. Ketoconazole, an antifungal hydrophobic drug was selected for this research in a concentration of 1 %. The in-vitro release of ketoconazole from the tested bases was performed by the Franz diffusion cell using cellulose acetate membrane at 32°C. Ketoconazole released was determine by UV spectrophotometer at 269 nm. Addition of cetostearyl alcohol to soft paraffin has increased the water number of soft paraffin from 11.5 ml to 57.5 ml, while for wool fat the water number of 202.5 ml was determined. The tested bases can be arranged in the following descending order according to the release of ketoconazole: Wool fat > soft paraffin with cetostearyl alcohol > soft paraffin

Relationship between urban physical development and ridership in Kelana Jaya light rail transit stations / Muhammad Ikram Baharom Shah

In urban planning, Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) is viewed as a set of strategies to increase the use of public transport, increase walking activity, contain urban sprawl, and create more liveable places. The TOD concept promote highdensity and mixed-use development around transit centres which affects the success of mass rapid transit. The types and distribution of land use around the train station play a big role in determining the ridership number, however, the evidences in Malaysia are not well recorded. Therefore, the research question is to answer whether TOD generates higher numbers of public transport ridership or not based on the land use distribution at the station. This research aims to measure the relationship between urban physical development and ridership in TOD stations using the LRT Kelana Jaya Line in Klang Valley, Malaysia as a case study. The study area covered land use distribution within a 500-meter radius of selected Light Rail Transit (LRT) stations on the Kelana Jaya Line

Introduction: The contamination of water bodies such as lake and rivers by anthropogenic activities can cause the accumulation of heavy metals in the environment. This is largely due to its nature that is highly persistence which allows it to bioaccumulate inside the aquatic organisms such as fish which may cause adverse health effects to the human who consumes it in their diet. Methodology: Puntius schwanenfeldii is selected as the species of fish that is going to be studied. A number of 30 samples were collected freshly from Sungai Sembilang and Sungai Buloh in Selangor to identify the concentration of heavy metal accumulated inside the samples. Sungai Buloh is selected is study area as it is one of the heavily polluted river whereas Sungai Sembilang is chosen due to the presence of landfill which may posed as the source of heavy metal contamination. A number of water samples were also collected from the rivers to identify the concentration of heavy metals in the water. Dry-ash method was used in preparing the samples from the fish before it were analysed. Four parameters namely Cadmium (Cd), Copper (Cu) and Lead (Pb) and Manganese (Mn) were analyzed by using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). SPSS software was used to analyse the data obtained from the laboratory analysis. Results: Estimation of health risk using Target Hazards Quotient shows that significant risk is posed by heavy metal Cd and Pb as the value exceed 1. Statistical analysis shows that there is a significant difference in Mn concentration of the fish muscle tissue between Sungai Sembilang and Sungai Buloh. Significant difference is also identified in terms if Cd and Pb concentration in water between the two study areas. Conclusion: The objectives of the study are fulfilled. The study hypotheses are also proven by the study conducted
