Numerical study of transient response in amperometric and potentiometric glucose biosensors

No full text
Biosensors are indispensable tools for continuous monitoring of key analytes, such as glucose, in chronic disease management. This thesis focuses on enzyme-immobilized redox polymer biosensors, leveraging reaction-diffusion partial differential equations (PDEs) to bridge the gap between theory and practical applications for biosensor design.A transient numerical scheme in MATLAB was used to solve coupled non-linear PDEs, capturing the dynamic behavior of enzyme-membrane systems. Verification was achieved by comparing steady-state analytical solutions with numerical outputs, while Case diagrams were used to identify different kinetic and transport regimes. Experiments with deflavinated enzymes provided a means to validate our model by systematically manipulating key parameters. Simulation results were compared with experimental data, revealing key insights into transient enzyme-membrane interactions. The study also investigated tubular flow electrodes, revealing the dependence of steady-state amperometric responses on solution viscosity under flow conditions. Experimentally obtained chronoamperograms were fitted to numerically solved dynamic simulations, confirming the model's predictive capabilities. Novel boundary conditions were also proposed to simulate potentiometric biosensors, broadening the scope of this work beyond amperometric sensing.Animations visualizing concentration profiles and system responses offer a deeper understanding of transient and steady-state behaviors. These insights can contribute to the optimization of biosensor performance, including sensitivity, dynamic range, and response time, advancing the development of robust and accurate glucose monitoring technologies

This study describes the thoughts of the Afghan-born Muhammad Hashim Kamali about mukhtalif al-hadith. The purpose of this study is to reveal in depth the thoughts of Kamali and to elaborate the study of mukhtalif al-hadith while comparing it with the thoughts of other scholars. Literature study became the main method of this research and resulted in the finding that Kamali's theory of mukhtalif al-hadith was colored by his educational background as a law graduate. Kamali traces the direct intersection between the theory of the study of the settlement of the arguments that intersect in the study of hadith by using the theoretical approach of ushul fiqh. Of course, these findings reveal that there is a close relationship between the study of ushul and the study of hadith.

425 million adults suffered from diabetes globally in 2017 with a predicted increase of 50 % by 2045. One good way to reduce the impact of this disease is by continuously monitoring the glucose levels of the patient using analytical devices. We are trying to research a specific case of such analytical devices i.e., enzyme immobilized redox polymer layered biosensors for continuous glucose monitoring using mathematical models. We have applied a transient numerical scheme using the commercial software MATLAB to solve the mathematical model. Mathematical verification of the system has been carried out by comparing our numerical results to steady state analytical solutions. We are trying to understand the transient regimes before the system reaches steady state. A novel validation procedure has been devised using the deflavinated enzyme to change the kinetic parameters in the physical system. The response will be compared with the simulated results. We also present an optimization of the physical system by using engineering constraints. This work has the potential to better explain the working of analytical devices and improve their working. <br/

The science of us {u> l al-Fiqh as a theory of Islamic law in its development at this time continues to be made efforts to improve by experts, both in terms of the formation of the appearance of the theory chart to the basic concepts of thought. Muhammad Hashim Kamali is one of the figures recognized as having new ideas in reconstructing Islamic legal theory. Kamali offers the chart design of us {u> l al-Fiqh by combining two approaches, namely the doctriner-normative approach and the empirical-historical approach. The doctrinaire-normative approach is the basic concept of us {u> l al-Fiqh as it is directed in the discourse of classical ulama thought. While the empirical-historical approach is a new format that has become a trend of study in the contemporary era. From the research the authors conclude that basically the Kamali formula theory design displays the reconstruction of us {u> l al-Fiqh in a simplified style of normative materials of us {u> l al-Fiqh accompanied by the appearance of new formations and actual explanations. Reconstruction of this model can be a reference in efforts to restore the main function of us {u> l al-Fiqh as an applicable Islamic legal theory

ARABIC- MAKHDOOM MUHAMMAD HASHİM THATWİ SİNDHİ: HIS WORKS AND SCHOLARLY SERVİCES FOR QURAN AND HADİTH

There have been many scholars in every age of Islamic history who devoted their lives for the propagation of Islam. They accepted the challenges of their time and defended Islam very well by presenting the true teachings of Islam. We know many of these scholars and their works but there are still some whose works are kept within private libraries. Makhdoom Muhammad Hashim Thatwi is one of these scholars who left a vast treasure of writings about various subjects of Islamic sciences. However, he is not known to the academic world to the extent he deserves. He was born in Thatta in 1104/1692 and was contemporaneous with Shah Waliullah al-Dehlawi (1703-1762 A.D). In this article, we introduce Sheikh al-Thatwi and explore his academic stature by discussing services rendered by him, especially towards the Quran and Hadith which are the two basic pillars of Islamic Ideology. Only his services towards Quran & Hadith have been focused on within this article because his work was diverse and cannot be completely discussed in one article. The purpose of the study was to highlight his legacy and draw the attention of scholars to the hidden treasure left by him in the form of books. It was concluded that Sheikh al-Thatwi was a great scholar who defended Islam against the threats of his time, removed misconceptions about Islam and presented true teachings of Islam. This paper shows that his strenuous work for both the Quran & Hadith is simply unique and unprecedented.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
