This study is conducted to determine the factor that influence the happiness among employees of public sector companies in Johor Bahru. In this study, samples are taken from two sub sectors which are corporate and education sub sectors that are represented by Johor Petroleum Development Corporation Berhad, JPDC and Faculty of Build Environment, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, UTM respectively. The sample of the whole population from both of the companies are taken by using simple random sampling based on the sample frame provided by the Human Resource Department of the companies. Primary data was then collected using questionnaires method after one week of distribution. There are a few data analysis used in this study which are Pearson Correlation analysis, Multiple Regression analysis and ANOVA Test. Based on the result of Pearson Correlation analysis, all independent variables job position (IV1), income (IV2), relationship (IV3) and work engagement (IV4) are significantly correlated with the happiness among employees at workplace (DV). In addition, job position variable shows the highest correlation towards the happiness among employees at workplace. In addition, from the multiple regression model, only job position and relationship at workplace variables are significant with the happiness at workplace, while income and work engagement variables are not significant with happiness at workplace. Moreover, job position has the highest significant relationship with happiness at workplace as it has the highest Beta value of 0.552. Last but not least, the ANOVA test shows the significant difference between corporate and educational sub sector to determine the level of happiness between these sub sectors. The mean or education sub sector is slightly higher than corporate sub sector. Thus, assumption can be made that employees of education sub sector is happier than corporate sub sector

In this work, Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) was characterized as temperature sensor for pipeline water leakage inspection. This is because FBG is sensitive to temperature, thus make it a potential device to perform pipeline water leakage inspection. Bragg wavelength An was measured by Tunable Laser Source (TLS) as light source and optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) to observe the reflected Bragg Wavelength at temperature from 24 °C to 40 °C. Analysis is performed to define the relationship of As with temperature based on the collected data. The temperature sensitivity of is 9.2 pm/°C and 9.8 pm/°C was obtained for FBGl and FBG2 respectively

Long gap imputation in air quality (PM10) data set using improvised EOF-based method with roughness penalty approach / Shamihah Muhammad Ghazali

Well-produced analysis results require good quality data. However, missing data is often a major problem in several scientific research, including air quality data set. Missing values lead to the problem of low accuracy prediction and bias of the analysis results. This situation shows the importance of imputation methods to replace the missing values with estimated values. Based on the literature search, investigation for an appropriate imputation method on Single-Site Temporal Time-Dependent (SSTTD) multivariate structure air quality dataset particularly with long gap sequence of missing values issue was found less discussed. Several empirical orthogonal functions (EOF) based imputation methods are proposed in this study to fill the gap. The EOF, sometimes named Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method, is a promising technique applied to solve for missing values. However, the existing EOF imputation method has a drawback because it uses data matrix centralization based on statistics mean for EOF computation. To be applied for the air quality dataset, the existing approach needs to be improvised because the air quality dataset often consists of extreme observations due to climatic variations and random processes. Therefore, the implementation of statistic median and trimmed mean seems better in the matrix centralization. In this study, several proposed EOF-based methods are introduced. The capability of the methods for estimating missing values for long gap problems focusing on air quality (PM10) of the SSTTD multivariate data set in Malaysia is investigated. The performance of the existing EOF based method, the EOF mean centred approach (EOF-mean) and several proposed EOF based methods; the EOF based on median (EOF-median), EOF based on the trimmed mean (EOF-trimmean) and the newly applied Regularized Expectation Maximization Principal Component Analysis (R-EMPCA) are compared. The study was conducted using real PM10 data set from Klang and Shah Alam air quality monitoring stations. Performance assessment and evaluation of the methods was conducted by comparing the imputed values in the artificial missing data set with the true observed values in the reference (complete) data set. The artificial missing values data sets are created from an identified reference (complete) data set with respect to several patterns according to four different percentages (5, 10, 20 and 30) and long sequence (gap) size (12, 24, 168 and 720) of missing points (hours) at both study locations. Based on several performance indicators, including RMSE, MAE, Rsquare and AI, the results have shown that R-EMPCA has the most excellent performance with the highest accuracy in estimating the missing values, and the second best is EOF-trimmean. For further improvement, the estimation of the estimated values was improvised using B-spline Roughness Penalty (RP) Smoothing approach, which resulted in the proposed R-EMPCA-RP and EOF-trimmean-RP imputation methods. The application of the RP approach is proven fruitful

This paper aims to study the bondability of ultrasonic Aluminum, Al bonds on Mo and MoSe2 layers of back-contact metal of copper indium gallium (de)selenide (CIGS) thin film photovoltaic (TFPV) solar panel. The bondability of ultrasonic Al bonds were evaluated based on the contact resistance, R-c, peel strength and electrical characteristics measured using transmission line method (TLM), peel test, and current-voltage (I-V) measurement, respectively. Besides, the qualitative results of load-distance profiles from tensile test also have been used to evaluate the bondability of the ultrasonic Al bonds. Two type of lamination constructions namely construction 1 and construction 2 were built on the CIGS TPFV solar panel with ultrasonic Al bonds on Mo and MoSe2. It was noted that the new method of removing CIGS layer up until MoSe2 is the plausible technique to be used. Ultrasonic Al bond on Mo layer has higher bondability as compared to that of ultrasonic Al bond on MoSe2 through the quantitative results of R-c, peel strength and qualitative result of load-distance profile. CIGS TFPV solar panel with construction 2 is the suitable construction for the CIGS TFPV solar panel due to the higher rigidity, and even stress distribution experienced during lamination process as compared to that of construction 1. It is noted that steps taken from ultrasonic bonding until lamination process has increased the cumulative contact area and decreased the R-c and consequently increased the efficiency of CIGS TFPV solar panel with ultrasonic Al bond on MoSe2 layer. This work was sponsored by Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia under the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS/1/ 2020/TKO/UNIKL/02/10) and Universiti Kuala Lumpur under Short Term Research Grant (str19087)

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Modelling the performance of commercial banks in Malaysia before and during COVID-19 using MCDM approaches / Wan Nur Irdina Muhammad Ghazali, Khairin Nabilah Khairollah and Adawiyah Tumiran

A commercial bank is a for-profit financial organization that accepts deposits, offers loans, and provides customers with other financial services. Businesses rely on commercial banks for their short-term and medium-term financial needs. However, they do not offer long-term credit because they must maintain their liquid assets. This study aims to select, compare, and rank the performance of the commercial banks in Malaysia before and during pandemic COVID-19. The spread of the novel COVID-19 virus and the subsequent pandemic has substantially impacted the banking sector's performance worldwide. The information was acquired from the annual reports of eight commercial banks in Malaysia starting from 2018 to 2021. In our research, we are attempting to propose the integrated Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) with Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR), and Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations II (PROMETHEE II). The AHP approach will be used to determine the weightage of criteria where we used three expertise to conclude the weightage. The bank's performance was ranked using the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods which are TOPSIS, VIKOR, and PROMETHEE II. The overall performance of the commercial banks is evaluated in terms of six selected criteria, which are Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), Earnings per Share (EPS), liquidity, total liabilities, and total equity. Research results reveal that Malayan Banking Berhad (MBB) had the best performance among Malaysian commercial banks. The VIKOR and PROMETHEE II methods demonstrated that Malayan Banking Berhad remained at the top of the rankings for four years. Using the TOPSIS method, Malayan Banking Berhad is also ranked first in 2020 and 2021. Meanwhile, Alliance Bank had the lowest ranked performance among Malaysian commercial banks. It is because, using the VIKOR and PROMETHEE II methods, Alliance Bank last rank remained constant from 2018 to 2021. Furthermore, the TOPSIS method only recorded Alliance Bank in the last rank for 2018 and 2019. Ultimately, the trend results for the eight commercial banks in VIKOR and PROMETHEE II are nearly identical
