Online distance learning amidst covid-19 pandemic among university students: a practicality of partial least squares structural equation modelling approach
World Health Organization declared the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) outbreak, caused
by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 to be a pandemic on March 12, 2020. In response to
that, Malaysia has announced movement control order effective on March 18, 2020, leading to the neartotal closures of education centers. University closures impact not only students, lecturers, and families, but
have far-reaching economic and societal consequences. In response to that, Universiti Teknologi MARA
(UiTM) has introduced the use of online distance learning and open educational applications and platforms
that lecturers can use to reach learners remotely and limit the disruption of education. Even though UiTM
has already adopted the integrated face-to-face and online learning approach in the classroom since many
years ago, however, the commencement of solely using online learning platforms, in the absence of faceto-face meetings is challenging. In addition, it is also crucial to note that the previous study on the
determinants of the intention and effective use of online distance learning is scarce. Thus, this study seeks
to identify the significant relationship between the intention and the effective use of an ODL among the
students. Findings from this study reveals that four out of five determinants (performance expectancy, effort
expectancy, social influence, facilitating condition and intrinsic value) found to be significantly related with
the behavioral intention of the students to use online distance learning. Behavioral intention also was found
to be significant with use behavior. Although the intrinsic values (new determinants) have contributed to
the theory, it is recommended that the same study will be carried out to the entire education center, either
public or private
Soft skills among students: a case study of Uitm Cawangan Kelantan
This article contributes to ongoing debates about soft skills among students. In 2017, the unemployment rate in Malaysia was at 3.42 percent as compared to 2.85 percent in 2014. Education system must aim towards employability and ensure quality in education to reduce the percentage of unemployment. Thus, this study aims to investigate the development of soft skills among students through co-curriculum activities in UiTM Cawangan Kelantan. The sample were 113 students from UiTM Cawangan Kelantan. Questionnaires adapted from previous research to measure the communication skill, problem solving skill, team building skill, leadership skill and soft development of soft skills among students through co-curriculum activities. SEM-PLS 3.0 were employed in this study. The findings revealed only team building skill has significant influence on developments of soft skills among students through co-curriculum activities. However, the study indicates that communication skill, problem solving skill and leadership skill are not significant towards development of soft skills among students through co-curriculum activities
Reservation system for premier lounge / Muhammad Faizal Samat ...[et al.]
Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry.Technology is also used to make things easier in our daily life. For the reservation systems we are focusing more in the reservation of the premier lounge that is located in the UiTM Cawangan Kelantan. This is because in order to use the premier lounge, they have to write on the whiteboard and that become a problems because it can be easily erased and have no security over the reservation. The objective of the reservation system is to make the reservation in using the premier lounge become easier in the university. This reservation system also save time and increase the security in making the reservation. This system can help the user to know the availabilty of the premier lounge and help to reduce and avoid redundancy in making the reservation of the premier lounge. The reservation systems were invented to help the user in the process of the reservation of the premier lounge in order to make the its easier to do work in that premier lounge. The reservation will be more secure and will be easier because itspeed the time to reserve the room. This system can be used in the university which can help to increase the effiiciency of the management in the universi
Mediating role of social media marketing adoption between technological support, organisational support, government support and competitive intelligence towards SMEs performance
Business environment in Malaysia has become more competitive due to the advancement of technology and globalization. The rapid evolution of technology has encouraged many companies to use social media as a medium of promoting their products and service. This includes small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have so long devised various marketing strategies in order to penetrate the advertisement clutter in social media marketing and improve their performance. Past studies have shown that using information and communication technologies such as social media can improve SMEs performance as well. However, the adoption of social media marketing relies on the process of information collection and analysis by the owner-managers of SMEs. Most of the SMEs have their own websites but use them primarily as an information tool only. Thus, this study investigated the mediating role of social media marketing adoption between technological support, organisational support, government support and competitive intelligence towards SME performance. The theoretical framework of this study has been supported by two underpinning theories which are Resource-based View (RBV) and Diffusion of Innovation (DOI), and supported by Technology, Environment and Organisation (TOE) framework. This study has been carried out in the East Coast of Malaysia that covers the area of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang. A quantitative research by using questionnaire survey method was employed in this study. A total of 1920 owner/managers SMEs were randomly selected and questionnaires were sent through mail. 339 responses were returned and found usable for the final analysis using the structural equation model partial least square (SEM-PLS). The findings revealed that technological support, government support and competitive intelligence have significant and positive relationships with SME performance. However, organisational support does not have a significant relationship with SME Performance. This is due to the fact that size of the organization does affect this relationship. In addition, the study confirmed the mediating effect of social media marketing adoption on the relationship between technological support, organisational support, government support and competitive intelligence, and SME performance do exist. Finally, the study’s theoretical and practical implications as well as the limitations and directions for future research were provided and discussed

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Factors contributing the effectiveness in public relation practices / Faten Aisyah Ahmad Ramli and Muhammad Faizal Samat
To achieve a big success, an organization must emphasis on effectiveness in its practices especially in significant areas such as public relations. To maintain the relationship between an organization and its public, many factors must be recognized. This study explores what factors will contribute in the process of gaining effectiveness in public relations practices. To collect primary data, the researcher had disseminated 384 sets of questionnaires to 384 respondents in Kuala Terengganu and used SPSS version 20 to analyze the data. The finding shows that 4 factors (attitude, trust, skills, and control mutuality) are closely related to effectiveness in public relations practices. However, only attitude and skills affect effectiveness in public relations practices
