Morphometric Analysis of Sumatran, Kalimantan, and Javan Cyrtodactylus, which were Labelled as Cyrtodactylus marmoratus, Revealed Undescribed Species

    No full text
Cyrtodactylus marmoratus is originally described based on the specimen from Java. Due to the marbled body colour pattern and the similarity in morphology, many specimens from outside of Java have been identified as C. marmoratus. The ongoing research, both molecular and morphological studies, showed that C. marmoratus is restricted to Java. The taxonomic status of specimens labelled as C. marmoratus from outside Java remains unresolved. Here, we study the morphometric and meristic of Javan, Sumatran, and Kalimantan Cyrtodactylus which were labelled as C. marmoratus to reveal their taxonomic status. We examined 11 morphometric and 19 meristic characters in 51 specimens at Museum Zoologicum Bogoriense (MZB) originally from, Java, Sumatra, and Kalimantan labelled as C. marmoratus as well as other recognized species. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) results show that C. marmoratus from Java differs from previous specimens which labelled as C. marmoratus from Sumatra and Kalimantan. The PCA results also show that C. marmoratus from Martabe differs from C. marmoratus Java which is supported by statistical analysis on interorbital, HeadW, HeadD, tubercle on the ventrolateral fold, dorsal tubercle and ventral scales. We hypothesized that Cyrtodactylus from Martabe is a suspected undescribed species-await formal description, and overall molecular analyses are needed for future study.

Smartphone nowadays has become a must for everyone to communicate and retrieve important information. Various information about products, events and almost everything are accessible from the fingertips. Recently, method of dissemination of information regarding events in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perlis Branch, is conducted thru posters, flyers and social networking sites. This method of spreading information is not reliable since it still fails to reach the whole community even students, lecturers and staff of the campus. Thus, lead to less number of participation. This project aims to introduce an innovative way of spreading information about events to communities via mobile application. Valuable information includes name of events, date, target audience, organizer and its location will be made available in the application for user. Data is stored in the MySQL database and JSON is used to manipulate it and pass to mobile application to be represented in user interface. User acceptance testing is conducted via questionnaire to check the capability and deliverables of the mobile application to the end users. The overall result shows that the application developed is acceptable and applicable to be used in by the community of UiTM Perlis

The EXPLORING THE ROLE OF AQUATIC ACTIVITIES IN ENHANCING SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN HYPERACTIVE CHILDREN

    No full text
Children with hyperactivity conditions, often known as ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity condition), frequently struggle with socialization and emotional regulation. This results from a failure to pay attention to and comprehend social norms. Therefore, strategies are required to address these issues, including the use of aquatic or water-based physical activities. This study will further investigate the function of water activities in enhancing hyperactive children's social and emotional development. Eight participants, three hyperactive kids, three parents of hyperactive kids, and two swimming coaches, were included in this study, which was conducted at one of the Cilacap Regency swimming pools using a qualitative case study methodology. Data triangulation, which included field observations, interviews, and documentation, was used to acquire the data. Using the NVivo 15 pro tool, data analysis was completed by classifying and coding significant themes as research results. Important discoveries have emerged about the function of aquatic activities, their effects, hyperactive children's social interactions, and the methods trainers employ to enhance their social and emotional development. According to Erik Erikson's theory of social-emotional development, aquatic activities help hyperactive kids develop socially and emotionally by promoting energy management, emotion regulation, more focus, social interaction, and coach strategies like play media, regular evaluation, and individualized approaches. Parents, trainers, educators, and even therapists will learn from this study about the advantages of aquatic activities to promote hyperactive kids' social and emotional growth. &nbsp
