Animating the Object: Marcelle Deschênes and acousmatic education in Quebec
No full textThis article examines the early reception of Pierre Schaeffer’s theoretical work in Quebec through the teaching of Marcelle Deschênes, principal author of the first electroacoustic theory and ear training curricula at both Université Laval and Université de Montréal. An account of Deschênes’s educational career is provided, along with remarks on the contents of her early courses in Morpho-typology and her listening workshops for children, using newly excavated primary material from her private archives. While existing scholarship presumes that Schaefferian thinking arrived in Quebec with the ‘orthodox’ acousmatic approach of Francis Dhomont, this article asserts that a pluralist and multidisciplinary interpretation of Schaeffer’s work can be discerned which pre-dated Dhomont’s teaching and has had an equally lasting impact overall. A methodological argument is also made for including education and other forms of ‘reproductive labour’ in the history of electroacoustic music.</jats:p

The daily lives and customs of Ottoman women are also examined, as well as the readiness of the two writers to show feminine solidarity towards these women, therefore transcending colonial prejudices

Get PDFL’auteure tente de cerner les attitudes « masculines » et « féminines » de la création musicale des cinquante dernières années afin de faire ressortir la contribution de deux compositrices québécoises, Micheline Coulombe Saint-Marcoux et Marcelle Deschênes, au développement de la musique électroacoustique au Québec. Par une mise en contexte historique, l’auteure situe dans un premier temps le milieu dans lequel elles ont vécu leur enfance, leur adolescence, et leur formation musicale à Montréal et à Paris ; puis la manière dont elles ont traversé le discours dominant des années 1970, pour finalement aborder leur rôle de pionnières. Parce qu’elles voulaient sortir des sentiers battus, elles ont compris que les nouveaux outils technologiques pourraient leur servir à exprimer musicalement une nouvelle sensibilité artistique. En ce sens, elles furent les « sherpas » du milieu électroacoustique au Québec.A review of “masculine” and “feminine” attitudes towards music composition of the past fifty years highlights the contributions of Micheline Coulombe Saint-Marcoux and Marcelle Deschênes to the development of Québécois electroacoustic music. The author re-creates the historical context for the composers’ childhoods, adolescences, and periods of training in Montreal and Paris, and follows this with a discussion of how they negotiated the dominant trends of the 1970s. She then turns to the composers’ roles as pioneers: in their wish to depart from well-trodden paths, Coulombe Saint-Marcoux and Deschênes turned to new technological tools that would allow them to express a new artistic sensibility. From this perspective, they should be considered the “sherpas” of Québécois electroacoustic music
Qual a influência da COVID -19 na prática de atividades físicas de docentes do bacharelado em educação física da UFPB?
Get PDFIntroduction: Measures to combat COVID-19, such as social distancing and the closure of establishments, have changed people's routines, interfering with the regular practice of Physical Activities (PA). Objective: to analyze how COVID-19 influenced the practice of PA by teachers of the Bachelor of Physical Education at UFPB. Methodology: Quantitative, descriptive research, with cross-sectional design and questionnaire applied virtually (n= 14). Comparing two distinct temporal phases, sociodemographic variables, aspects of the weekly practice of PA at leisure, at work and in everyday life, and factors influencing the practice were investigated. Results: In “phase 1” there was a reduction in the number of PA sites and in “phase 2” maintenance or worsening. Mixed physical exercises and aerobics of moderate or vigorous intensity decreased in “phase 1”; leisure PA, light intensity aerobic exercises, typically strength exercises, utilitarian or preparatory PA at work and PA at work showed a reduction (or maintenance of reduction) in both phases. Flexibility, mobility and recovery exercises had a considerable number of non-practitioners in both phases. There was an increase in the practice of PA in daily life in both phases, and aerobic Physical Exercises of moderate or vigorous intensity increased in “phase 2”. What most influenced the reduction of PA were the existence of restrictive measures and fear, while the interest in physical fitness, health and/or quality of life influenced the increase. Conclusion: the practice of PA by the professors studied was generally negatively affected, despite their technical and scientific knowledge about PA.Introdução: As medidas de combate à COVID-19, como o distanciamento social e o fechamento de estabelecimentos alteraram a rotina das pessoas, interferindo na prática regular de Atividades Físicas (AF). Objetivo: analisar como a COVID-19 influenciou a prática de AF dos docentes do Bacharelado em Educação Física da UFPB. Metodologia: Pesquisa quantitativa, descritiva, com delineamento transversal e questionário aplicado virtualmente (n= 14). Comparando-se duas fases temporais distintas, investigou-se variáveis sociodemográficas, aspectos da prática semanal de AF no lazer, no trabalho e no cotidiano, e fatores influenciadores da prática. Resultados: Na “fase 1” houve redução de locais das AF e na “fase 2” manutenção ou piora. Exercícios Físicos mistos e aeróbicos de intensidade moderada ou vigorosa diminuíram na “fase 1”; as AF de lazer, Exercícios aeróbicos de intensidade leves, Exercícios tipicamente de força, AF utilitárias ou preparatórias no trabalho e AF no trabalho apresentaram redução (ou manutenção de redução) nas duas fases. Exercícios de flexibilidade, mobilidade e recuperadores apresentaram considerável quantidade de não praticantes nas duas fases. Houve aumento de prática das AF no cotidiano nas duas fases, e os Exercícios Físicos aeróbicos de intensidade moderada ou vigorosa apresentam aumento na “fase 2”. O que mais influenciou na redução das AF foram a existência de medidas restritivas e o medo, enquanto o interesse em aptidão física saúde e/ou qualidade de vida influenciou no aumento. Conclusão: a prática de AF dos docentes estudados foi afetada, em geral, negativamente, apesar de seus conhecimentos técnicos e científicos acerca das AF

No full textThe act of learnig code programmig has became stronger nowdays. In the present context, both professional, cultural and even personal, more and more people seek to learn some form of expressing their ideals through program methods, because they want to have applications implemented, and then become active users. However, some constrains turn this journey hard , since the lack or bad experience in coding ends up discouraging many people from other areas outside of computer science. This work aims at implementing the PoliFacets model through Google's Blockly tool, which uses a block visual programming language to generate code. The PoliFacets model is based on Semiotic Engineering and the main focus of the study is the metacommunication ontology. It is essential to define categories of facets of programs that may exist in the design of an active documentation focused on the teaching and learning process of programming and consequently the development of computational reasoning which is very important to solve multidisciplinary problems nowdays. We will use Blockly facets to provide a better user experience, and thus make a transfer of knowledge from visual programming language to a textual programming language.A necessidade de aprender uma linguagem de programação é cada vez maior na sociedade. No atual contexto, tanto profissional, quanto cultural e até mesmo pessoal, cada vez mais as pessoas buscam aprender alguma forma de expressar suas ideais por meios de programas, pois pensaram em algo a ser implementado, passando então a serem usuários participativos. Porém, algumas barreiras dificultam essa busca, pois a falta de conhecimento na área de computação acaba desmotivando muitas pessoas de outras áreas de fora da computação. Este trabalho busca aplicar um modelo de design da comunicação que acontece entre o design e o usuário considerando o contexto da ferramenta Blockly, da empresa Google, que utiliza uma linguagem de programação visual em blocos para programar. O resultado da aplicação do modelo são facetas de significados de programas que formam uma documentação ativa voltada para o processo de ensino e aprendizado de programação e consequentemente o desenvolvimento do raciocínio computacional que é muito importante para solução de problemas multidisciplinares na atualidade. Utilizaremos a ferramenta Blockly junto a facetas para buscar proporcionar uma melhor experiência ao usuário iniciante, e assim realizar um estudo sobre como é possível fazer uma transferência de conhecimento de linguagem de programação visual (Blockly) para as linguagens de programação textuais (Python e JavaScript). Os resultados deste estudo indicam que as facetas desenvolvidas podem colaborar positivamente na transição entre estas duas linguagens
Mulheres na ciência: um panorama das publicações no wit
No full textWomen in Information Technology (WIT) is an event that aims to disseminate studies and projects that encourage female participation in computing. In this sense, this paper seeks to verify the current panorama of the event’s publications, identifying which are the most discussed topics and the regions that publish the most. The analysis of papers published in the last six years (2016- 2021) of WIT was carried out. As a result, it is concluded that there is a predominance of specific topics and an inequality of contribution by regions and states, with the need to encourage thematic and regional diversities.O Women in Information Technology (WIT) é um evento que tem como objetivo disseminar estudos e projetos que incentivam a participação feminina na computação. Nesse sentido, este artigo busca verificar qual o panorama atual das publicações do evento, identificando quais são os temas mais abordados e as regiões que mais publicam pesquisas. Para isso, foi realizada a análise dos artigos publicados nos últimos seis anos (2016-2021) no WIT. Como resultados, conclui-se que há a predominância de certos temas, além de uma desigualdade de contribuição por parte de regiões e estados, havendo a necessidade do fomento às diversidades temática e regional
Aplicativo para professores de alunos com autismo no ensino superior na Universidade Federal do Pará- Campus Belém
No full textWith the increasing use of smartphones, mobile applications have become more evident in the most varied contexts, with several possibilities of application. Within the educational context, such tools can serve as allies in the inclusion of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in higher education. These students need adaptations that consider their characteristics and difficulties to ensure the opportunity to pursue their academic activities efficiently. In this process, the role of the teacher is essential, and the adoption of educacional strategies that consider their peculiarities can produce positive effects in the learning process. Therefore, the following work resulted in the development of an application for Android phones with the purpose to provide information to teachers of Federal University of Pará about the teaching of autistic students. The purpose of the application is provide access to key information about autism and facilitate communication with the Accessibility Coordination, which is responsible to provide support to students with autism and special needs in institution. In the first part of the test, interviews were conducted with five professors from the Faculty of Computing and two members of the Accessibility Coordination, where information was collected about their main difficulties in the teaching process, quality of service and desired functionalities in a informational application. In the second part of the study, a practical test was conducted with the teachers to collect usage data from application and improvements suggestions. Regarding the results obtained in this project, it was possible to conclude that the application meets the majority of the interviewees desires, presenting functionalities that relief the communication between teachers and Accessibility Coordination, which reduces the bureaucracy present in teacher's support in the education of autistic students.Com o uso cada vez mais intenso de smartphones, a utilização de aplicativos móveis tem se tornado mais evidente em diversos contextos, possuindo variadas possibilidades de aplicação. Dentro do contexto educacional, tais ferramentas podem servir como aliadas no processo de inclusão de alunos com Transtorno do Espectro Autista no ensino superior. Alunos com esta condição necessitam de adaptações que levem em conta suas características e dificuldades, de modo que lhe seja garantido a oportunidade de exercer suas atividades acadêmicas com eficiência. Para tanto, o papel do professor é essencial neste processo, e a adoção de estratégias pedagógicas que levem em conta suas peculiaridades podem exercer efeitos muito positivos no processo de aprendizagem. Portanto, o seguinte trabalho resultou no desenvolvimento de uma aplicação para celulares Android com o intuito de fornecer informações a docentes da Universidade Federal do Pará acerca do ensino de alunos autistas. A aplicação tem como objetivo facilitar o acesso às principais informações sobre o autismo e tornar menos burocrática a comunicação com a Coordenadoria de Acessibilidade, órgão responsável por prover o suporte aos discentes com autismo e necessidades especiais dentro da instituição. Na primeira parte do teste foram realizadas entrevistas com cinco professores da Faculdade de Computação, e com duas integrantes da Coordenadoria de Acessibilidade, onde foram coletadas informações a respeito de suas principais dificuldades no processo de ensino, qualidade do atendimento da coordenadoria e funcionalidades desejadas em uma aplicação de auxílio. Na segunda parte do teste foi realizado um teste prático com os professores para coleta de dados de uso do aplicativo e sugestão de melhorias. Com os resultados obtidos neste projeto foi possível concluir que o aplicativo atende à maioria dos anseios dos entrevistados, apresentando funcionalidades que auxiliam na comunicação entre professores e Coordenadoria de Acessibilidade, o que reduz a atual burocracia presente no processo de suporte ao professor no processo de educação de alunos autistas
