Daughter of fortune: Isabel Allende's popularity from a readership perspective
No full textThe primary aim of this thesis is to explore and critically interrogate Isabel Allende’s popularity cross-culturally in Britain and Spain. It analyses readers’ responses to Allende’s works as well as the discourses surrounding her public representation, an approach that is ‘readerly’ but must also take account of production and text. This approach is intended to further the understanding of Allende’s work which so far has always been analysed from a textual perspective. However, the relationship between Allende’s popularity, her texts, public representation and readers has not been yet analysed in detail.This thesis is innovative in other ways too. Methodologically, it approaches readers through the under studied cultural form of the reading group. It also incorporates a comparative dimension by looking at the reception of Allende in two different cultural contexts: the British and Spanish respectively. Finding out about Allende’s popularity has involved asking readers about their reading experiences as well as analysing the production of discourses around her public representation. Paul Ricoeur’s (1984, 1988) perspective on authorial intentions and readers’ responses to texts helps in understanding the intricacies surrounding what is involved in reading any text. It draws attention to Allende’s and her publishers’ authorial strategies, her ‘strategies of persuasion’ and the specificity of the lives and contexts of British and Spanish reading publics. Equally, this ‘readerly’ approach draws on feminist audience research and primarily on the work of Ien Ang and Janice Radway. Their work with viewers and readers respectively is particularly useful in establishing and developing methodological parameters for the study of reading groups. Programas de asistencia social, deserción escolar y su relación con el trabajo infantil en los obreros de la industria del vestido y la confección de Tehuacán Puebla
No full textLas empresas trasnacionales han logrado incrementar sus utilidades por medio de la relocalización in- dustrial de sus procesos productivos intensivos hacia los países periféricos. La industria del vestido y la confec- ción busca espacios con abundante mano de obra juvenil y barata con la suficiente calificación para trabajar en forma intensiva. Esta investigación se realizó en la ciudad de Tehuacán, Puebla, a través de una metodología mixta. El objetivo del trabajo fue analizar la relación entre el Programa Oportunidades, la deserción escolar y su relación con el trabajo en las maquilas. Los resultados indican que la deserción escolar es motivada por las condiciones de vida de las familias de los trabajadores y que los programas de asistencia social no resuelven el problema de la deserción escolar y trabajo infantil. Se concluye que el modelo maquilador no funciona como estrategia para superar la pobreza.Público en genera

No full textLa investigación actual se centra en mejorar los procesos de convivencia entre los estudiantes de quinto grado de la Institución Educativa Santa Isabel, ubicada en el municipio de Montería, mediante la implementación de una estrategia pedagógica que utilice tecnologías de la información y comunicación (TIC). La pregunta de investigación se formula de la siguiente manera: ¿De qué manera se pueden mejorar los procesos de convivencia en los estudiantes de quinto grado de la Institución Educativa Santa Isabel a través de una estrategia pedagógica? El objetivo principal de esta investigación es desarrollar una estrategia pedagógica apoyada en el uso de Tics, con el propósito de fortalecer los procesos de convivencia de los estudiantes de quinto grado de dicha institución. Para alcanzar este objetivo general, se han establecido varios objetivos específicos: primero, realizar un diagnóstico de las prácticas de convivencia en el grupo de quinto grado mediante una prueba diagnóstica inicial; segundo, identificar las variables que influyen negativamente en la convivencia de estos estudiantes; tercero, recopilar y analizar los elementos claves que pueden contribuir al fortalecimiento de la convivencia escolar; y finalmente, diseñar una estrategia pedagógica basada en TICs, concretamente a través del desarrollo de una aplicación móvil, que permita mejorar estos procesos de convivencia. La metodología de la investigación sigue un enfoque cuantitativo, con un estudio de tipo descriptivo que facilita la recolección y análisis de datos para comprender a fondo el fenómeno en cuestión. La población estudiada estuvo compuesta por 39 estudiantes de quinto grado de la Institución Educativa Santa Isabel. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que la estrategia pedagógica implementada es efectiva, destacando cómo los procesos de convivencia en estos estudiantes pueden ser mejorados significativamente mediante la aplicación de una estrategia pedagógica basada en TICs, específicamente a través de una aplicación móvil.The current research focuses on improving the coexistence processes among fifth grade students of the Santa Isabel Educational Institution, located in the municipality of Monteria, through the implementation of a pedagogical strategy that uses information and communication technologies (ICT). The research question is formulated as follows: How can the coexistence processes in fifth grade students of the Santa Isabel Educational Institution be improved through a pedagogical strategy? The main objective of this research is to develop a pedagogical strategy supported by the use of ICTs, with the purpose of strengthening the coexistence processes of fifth grade students of said institution. To achieve this general objective, several specific objectives have been established: first, to carry out a diagnosis of the coexistence practices in the fifth grade group through an initial diagnostic test; second, to identify the variables that negatively influence the coexistence of these students; third, to collect and analyze the key elements that can contribute to strengthening school coexistence; and finally, to design a pedagogical strategy based on ICTs, specifically through the development of a mobile application, which allows improving these coexistence processes. The research methodology follows a quantitative approach, with a descriptive study that facilitates the collection and analysis of data to fully understand the phenomenon in question. The population studied was composed of 39 fifth grade students from the Santa Isabel Educational Institution. No full textMost Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) research has been concerned with SEA as a procedure, and there have been relatively few developments and tests of analytical methodologies. The first stage of the SEA is the ‘screening’, which is the process whereby a decision is taken on whether or not SEA is required for a particular programme or plan. The effectiveness of screening and SEA procedures will depend on how well the assessment fits into the planning from the early stages of the decision-making process. However, it is difficult to prepare the environmental screening for an infrastructure plan involving a whole country. To be useful, such methodologies must be fast and simple. We have developed two screening tools which would make it possible to estimate promptly the overall impact an infrastructure plan might have on biodiversity and global warming for a whole country, in order to generate planning alternatives, and to determine whether or not SEA is required for a particular infrastructure plan

Según nuestra hipótesis la autoficción opera en el corpus de la autora como matriz desestabilizadora y habilita el rasgo de inestabilidad que Montero propone en tanto poética de su escritura.
Reconocemos como un lugar de vacancia el estudio del período propuesto en lo relativo a las categorías de autoficción e inestabilidad genérica, las que leídas en diálogo, permiten revisar el lugar de Rosa Montero dentro del sistema literario español. Nuestro análisis se centrará en que esta inestabilidad genérica funciona bajo los juegos autofictivos a los fines de instalar una discusión acerca de cómo la novela para Rosa Montero debe leerse dentro del sistema.The proposal of this thesis is to investigate into the novels published by Rosa Montero during the period 1993-2013. According to our hypothesis the self-fiction acts in the author's corpus as a destabilizing matrix that enables the generic instability that Montero proposes in the poetic form of her writing.
We recognize as a vacancy our study of the categories of self-fiction and generic instability during these periods, which read into the dialogue, allows learning about Rosa Montero's place in the Spanish literary system. Our analysis focuses on the fact that her generic instability works with her self-fiction games as a way to show how her novels should be read into the system
