Mohamed al-Nowaihi (1917-1980)
Arabic Cultural Program - Conversation with novelists Mohamed Rabie and Na’il al-Tukhi (Part 1)
The Arabic Cultural program hosted novelists Basma Abdel Aziz, Mohamed Rabie and Na’il al-Tukhi to discuss representations of dystopia in their most recent works. Abdel Aziz’s al-Tabur (The Queue, 2013) Rabie’s Otared (Mercury, 2015) and Eltoukhy’s Nisa’ al-Karantina (Women of Karantina, 2014) all imagine the post-2011 world as a chaotic and violent nightmare

The moderating effect of service types on the relationship between emotional intelligence and organization role / Abdul Kadir Othman, Mohamed Sulaiman and Ali Al-Kahtani
Emotional intelligence (EI) is claimed to enhance pro-social behavior, however the claim cannot be generalized to the whole service industry, since services vary significantly. Some services require high levels of
customization; while others focus on service standardization. In offering customized services, service providers need to use higher levels of discretion and judgment compared to those offering standardized services.
Therefore, this study investigates the moderating effect of service types on the relationship between EI factors (self-emotion appraisal, others emotion appraisal, regulation of emotion and use ofemotion) and service providers' organization role effectiveness. Analysis of J67 responses
revealed that there is a significant relationship between self emotional appraisal (SEA) and organization role for moderator-based subgroups. The implication of which is that EI is actively implemented by service providers in mass service to engage in effective organization role

SYAIKH MOHAMED IDRIS AL-MARBAWI: Kontribusinya dalam Fiqh al-Hadîs
Abstrak: Sheikh Mohamed Idris al-Marbawi: His Contribution in Fiqh al-Hadîth. Syaikh Mohamed Idris bin Abdul Raof al-Marbawi’s Bahr al-Madhi is a very popular work within the Malaysian community. This work comprizes a translation of 2781 prophetic traditions adapted from Imâm al-Tirmidhî’s al-Jâmi‘, and still continuously reprented and used by large audience in mosques. This study focuses on studying the method of exegesis (syarh) of fiqh al-hadîs found in Bahr al-Madhi. As such, the writer analyzes document and makes interviews related to issues relevant to the study. The test for methods used by al-Marbawy in Fiqh al-hadîs is conducted by analyzing the findings through varius interpretaion of al-Hadis. In addition, comparative approach is also used by referring to the works of expert in hadith and identifying how far al-Marbawi’s method is similar or diferent to the former views. This study reveals that al-Marbawi’s commentary on Fiqh al- Hadîs is mainly dominated by issues pertaining to ‘aqîdah (Islamic creed), tafsîr (Qur’anic exegesis), hadîs (Islamic traditions), usûl al-fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), and history and language. Finally, the writer asserts that due to its divergence scope of discussion, authentivcity andreliability, the Bahr al-Madhi remains the main reference in hadith studies applicable for different disciplines of knowledge. Navigating Patriarchies: Postcolonial Complexity in Riḥla ilā Ḥadāʾiq Jahannam by Mohamed Doublali
This article studies forms of patriarchy in Riḥla ilā Ḥadāʾiq Jahannam by Mohamed Doublali (2020). The author, I argue, challenges conventional depictions of patriarchy in both the Eastern and Western worlds. The central argument posits that Doublali offers a complex postcolonial representation of patriarchy as a construct influenced by both Eastern and Western paradigms. This construct is enacted by individuals across gender and generational lines. Through exploring the theme of migration from Morocco to Italy, Doublali presents a plural voice that encapsulates diverse expressions and experiences of patriarchy. Using postcolonial theory as the analytical framework, this study uncovers the multifaceted and hybrid nature of patriarchal structures within the novel. The analysis attempts to expose how Doublali\u27s work transcends monolithic understandings of patriarchy, offering a critical reflection on its pervasive and evolving nature in a postcolonial context
An improved Pattern Search based algorithm to solve the Dynamic Economic Dispatch problem with valve-point effect
In this paper, an improved algorithm based on Pattern Search method (PS) to solve the Dynamic Economic Dispatch is proposed. The algorithm maintains the essential unit ramp rate constraint, along with all other necessary constraints, not only for the time horizon of operation (24 h), but it preserves these constraints through the transaction period to the next time horizon (next day) in order to avoid the discontinuity of the power system operation. The Dynamic Economic and Emission Dispatch problem (DEED) is also considered. The load balance constraints, operating limits, valve-point loading and network losses are included in the models of both DED and DEED. The numerical results clarify the significance of the improved algorithm and verify its performance
