Information literacy of students after finished primary school - example of firstyear high school students in Koroška
Povzeli smo nekaj tujih raziskav s področja IP.
The purpose of the diploma thesis ‘Information Literacy of Learners After Finishing Elementary School – Example of First Year Learners of High Schools in Carinthia’ is to find out the level of information literacy (further: IL) of first year learners of vocational and technical schools in Carinthia at the beginning of the school year 2014/2015 and to discover whether there are differences regarding different factors.
The diploma thesis consists of theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part we presented the field of IL. We defined the concept, touched the beginnings and some definitions. We found the role or the meaning of IL. We described different elements of information literate people. We presented the most important modals and standards of IL which are used in education. We wrote about information literacy in elementary school. We set the task to look through the curriculum of elementary school and to found out which skills learners should have after finishing elementary school in the field of IL. We summarized some of the foreign studies of IL. In the empirical part we present the research results of first year learners of high schools in Carinthia. Based on the questionnaire we found out how much they use information communication technology (further: ICT), how they are skilled in its use, how much information literacy they have received in elementary school and the level of IL after finishing elementary school. Based on the results of the analysis of the survey we can conclude how successful the Slovenian elementary educational system in the field of information literacy is.
We find learners not enough information literate upon entering the high school. They have a basic knowledge of computers, they know well ICT but they have difficulties working with information. We also find statistically significant differences in IL regarding some factors: elementary school which they attended, academic success which they achieved in the last year of elementary school, parental education, the ownership of books at home, the frequency of using certain learning materials

Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Effects of shoreline alteration and habitat heterogeneity on macroinvertebrate community composition across European lakes
Human lake shore alterations often result in a substantial decrease of littoral and riparian habitat diversity and physical complexity, but the intensity at which shore alterations affect biodiversity may differ among European geographical regions. We tested if the response of littoral macroinvertebrate communities to human shoreline alterations is consistent among geographical regions. We compared community composition and diversity of human altered with those of unmodified littoral zones from 51 lakes across seven European countries in four geographical regions based on pooled composite as well as habitat-specific macroinvertebrate samples. Taxon richness and community composition differed among shore types and different habitats in all geographic regions, with morphological alteration having an overall negative effect on macroinvertebrate taxon richness. In addition, habitat heterogeneity also had a strong effect on littoral communities, with highest taxon richness found in the structurally complex macrophyte habitats in all regions. Average proportional densities of Diptera and Oligochaeta taxa generally increased in morphologically altered shores in all geographical regions, while Bivalvia, Crustacea, Ephemeroptera, Gastropoda and Trichoptera showed comparatively lower numbers in many anthropogenically altered sites. Furthermore, taxon richness was positively correlated with habitat diversity. We were able to relate changes in littoral communities to anthropogenic shoreline alterations, and linked the effect to the loss of habitats and habitat complexity. The results of our study demonstrate that littoral macroinvertebrates respond consistently negative to the influence of morphological alterations across European geographical regions in terms of biodiversity. While macroinvertebrates have previously been identified to be useful descriptors of morphological change in single countries/regions, we can now validate that they can be used to assess the ecological status of lakes in terms of morphological alterations across European regions. Our results can be used to further improve ealready existing WFD-compliant multimetric indices, for example by including taxa groups, which show a strong reaction to shoreline alterations. This could be supported by the inclusion of a suit of indicator taxa reflecting the loss of complex habitats such as macrophytes in the lake littoral
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
Variability of the Warta River water discharge in the city of Poznań as influenced by the Jeziorsko reservoir / Zmienność przepływów rzeki Warty w Poznaniu w aspekcie eksploatacji zbiornika Jeziorsko
Klimat Poznania, położonego w centrum Wielkopolski, jest stosunkowo stały (Miler i in. 2005).
