A method for detecting the profile of an author
This paper presents a method for detecting an author’s profile using the following two elements: gender and age. This is based on a set of dialogues, written in two languages: English and Spanish, provided for Author Profiling competence within the evaluation forum "Uncovering Plagiarism, Authorship, and Social Software Misuse" (PAN2018). Counts of lexical, semantic, and syntactic characteristics are used to generate a two-phase classification system, which first classifies gender and then age. The results obtained show that, with the amount of data available, it is possible to characterize both the age and gender of an author with an accuracy greater than 50%. Desempeño docente según percepción de estudiantes de enfermería Universidad San Pedro, Piura 2017
A través de la percepción que tienen los estudiantes respecto a la enseñanza del docente del Programa de Estudios de Enfermería, se determinó el desempeño del docente en su cátedra universitaria, para ello se evaluó en tres dimensiones: la competencia didáctica; la competencia metodológica, y la competencia humanística del docente. La Investigación es de enfoque cuantitativo, no experimental, de tipo descriptivo, transversal prospectivo; utiliza el diseño de investigación de descripción. El objetivo de la investigación es determinar el desempeño docente en el proceso de enseñanza según percepción de los estudiantes de Enfermería de la Universidad "San Pedro" Piura. La población fue el total 162 de estudiantes del Programa, a quienes se les aplicó, un test de Likert para determinar el desempeño docente. Los resultados fueron Teniendo en cuenta los resultados obtenidos en la investigación que en su mayoría se enmarcan en la frecuencia A veces y casi siempre, y nunca siempre, sin alcanzar el 75%, para afirmar científicamente que sea un desempeño eficiente, entonces el desempeño del docente según percepción de estudiantes de Enfermería de la Universidad San Pedro- Piura 2017, es poco eficiente.Tesi
Development of a semi transparent perovskite module: Optimization of the laser scribe for interconnection
Despite the fact of the outstanding efficiency of the perovskite-based devices, their current size isaround a few square millimeters. The application of this thin-film technology in module scale requiresan interconnection with optimal laser processing to create a channel for the photo current. Inthis project, the relation between each film material and the laser beam is analyzed. Furthermore,this scribing process is applied to a workingmodule manufacturing.A semi transparent triple cation-based perovskite module scribing processing has been studied.An n-i-p structure was used for the device. 200 nm indium tin oxide films were used as the frontand back electrode, to guarantee the transparency. Spin deposited layers of tin oxide and spiro-OMeTAD were used as the n-type and p-type layers, respectively. A buffer layer between the holetransmitting film and the anode was applied to enhance the performance; for this purpose, a 20 nmmolybdenum oxide layer is vapor-deposited. This architecture had a performance of 10.95 % for asingle cell, and 4.06 % for a six cells module in front illumination. The laser system is set to work inthe UV range with 1 ps pulse length, 10 kHz frequency and apparent power from 1300 to 1800 forscribing speed between 30 to 60 mm/s. To further improve the performance of the module, it wasilluminated from the rear side, achieving a 5.9 % efficiency. High quality diet improves lipid metabolic profile and breeding performance in the blue-footed booby, a long-lived seabird
Understanding the role of diet in the physiological condition of adults during reproduction and hence its effect on reproductive performance is fundamental to understand reproductive strategies in long-lived animals. In birds, little is known about the influence of the quality of food consumed at the beginning of the reproductive period and its short-term effects on reproductive performance. To assess the role of diet in the physiological condition of female blue-footed booby, Sula nebouxii (BFBO), during reproduction we evaluated whether individual differences in diet (assessed by using δ13C and δ15N values of whole blood from female birds and muscle tissue of the principal prey species) prior to egg laying and during incubation influenced their lipid metabolic profile (measured as triglyceride levels and C:N ratio) and their reproductive performance (defined by laying date, clutch size and hatching success). Females with higher δ15N values in their blood during the courtship and incubation periods had a higher lipid metabolic profile, earlier laying date, greater clutch size (2–3 eggs) and higher hatching success. Females that laid earlier and more eggs (2–3 eggs) consumed more Pacific anchoveta (Cetengraulis mysticetus) and Pacific thread herring (Opisthonema libertate) than did other females. These two prey species also had high amounts of lipids (C:N ratio) and caloric content (Kcal/g fresh weight). The quality of food consumed by females at the beginning of reproduction affected their physiological condition, as well as their short-term reproductive performance. Our work emphasizes the importance of determining the influence of food quality during reproduction to understand the reproductive decisions and consequences in long-lived animals. © 2018 González-Medina et al. Esta tesis analiza cómo se articula la Política Pública de Ruralidad (Decreto 327 de 2007) con los instrumentos de planificación territorial aplicados en el borde urbano-rural de la localidad de Usme, en Bogotá D.C. La investigación parte del contexto de presión por expansión urbana y transformación del suelo en zonas de frontera rural-urbana, marcado por tensiones entre dinámicas urbanas y rurales. Usme, con una alta proporción de suelo rural y una importante carga ambiental y normativa, es el escenario donde se examina dicha articulación, especialmente en el marco de la Actuación Estratégica Borde Usme, definida en el POT 2021. A través de un enfoque cualitativo, basado en análisis documental, normativo y cartográfico, la tesis evalúa la coherencia entre la política pública y los planes de ordenamiento, la coordinación interinstitucional y los efectos en el territorio y su población. Estimación de emisiones atmosféricas producidas por las motos y el transporte público en Cartagena - Colombia
Cartagena de Indias tiene un sistema de transporte público que consiste en el sistema de transporte masivo Transcaribe, autobuses, taxis y motocicletas; este último no está legalizado y es equivalente al mayor número de vehículos en la ciudad (57%). El transporte es una de las fuentes más representativas de contaminantes criterio y gases de efecto invernadero en áreas urbanas. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de este trabajo es crear un inventario de emisiones de contaminantes primarios y gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) producidos por motocicletas y transporte público en la ciudad de Cartagena (sin incluir taxis). En las tres principales avenidas de la ciudad, se crearon ciclos de conducción representativos (CDR) basados en el método de mínimas diferencias. Para estimar las emisiones de los vehículos, se ejecutó el Modelo Internacional de Emisión de Vehículos (IVE) utilizando los CDR y las características de la flota vehicular como datos de entrada. Los resultados obtenidos indican que el monóxido de carbono (CO) y los compuestos orgánicos volátiles (COV) son los gases contaminantes mayormente emitidos por las motocicletas en la Avenida Pedro de Heredia con 189,03 kg/hr y 58,69 kg/hr, respectivamente. Mientras, el CO2 es el gas de efecto invernadero mayormente emitido por las motocicletas en la avenida Pedro de Heredia con 1171,49 kg/hr. Además, se identificó que los autobuses son los mayores emisores de óxidos de nitrógeno (NOx) y materia particulada (PM)
Mobile Authoring of Open Educational Resources as Reusable Learning Objects
E-learning technologies have allowed authoring and playback of standardized reusable learning objects (RLO) for several years. Effective mobile learning requires similar functionality at both design time and runtime. Mobile devices can play RLO using applications like SMILE, mobile access to a learning management system (LMS), or other systems which deploy content to mobile learners (Castillo & Ayala, 2008; Chu, Hwang, & Tseng, 2010; Hsu & Chen, 2010; Nakabayashi, 2009; Zualkernan, Nikkhah, & Al-Sabah, 2009). However, implementations which author content in a mobile context do not typically permit reuse across multiple contexts due to a lack of standardization. Standards based (IMS and SCORM) authoring implementations exist for non-mobile platforms (Gonzalez-Barbone & Anido-Rifon, 2008; Griffiths, Beauvoir, Liber, & Barrett-Baxendale, 2009; Téllez, 2010; Yang, Chiu, Tsai, & Wu, 2004). However, this paradigm precludes capturing learning where and when it occurs. Sustainability Assessment of a Sustainable Innovation for the Aviation Industry: Case Study of Bio Composites for Aircraft Interiors
The current impact of the aviation industry on climate change poses little choice for aviation companies but to invest in sustainability. One way to do this is to develop and implement sustainable innovations in aircraft. However, the question is how it can be validated whether an innovation is sustainable. To do so, this research uses sustainability assessment methodologies and investigates, how the integration of sustainability assessment tools can support the decision-making process regarding investment in sustainable innovation. It presents the methodology for the sustainability assessment of sustainable innovation for aircraft while using two tools - Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA). The first one is to assess the environmental impacts of an innovation, the second one is to determine its financial and also social implications. The chosen sustainable innovation, upon which the case study is developed and the methods are tested, is the bio composite material for usage in aircraft interiors. In particular, the viability of replacing conventional composites in Boeing 787-8 aircraft business class seats with bio composites is considered. The thesis is conducted in collaboration with Collins Aerospace, which is the manufacturer of products for aircraft. Before realizing sustainability assessment, the technology is analysed using theoretical frameworks. In particular, the analysis is developed on technology drivers, challenges, and the current stage of development in the aviation and automotive industry. After that, the specific bio composite suitable for aircraft interior - geopolymer panel created in an EU project - is chosen for further sustainability assessment. Next, the case study includes the environmental assessment (comparative, fast-tracked LCA) and economic assessment (CBA) of the chosen material. The LCA concludes that usage of the bio composite reduces the carbon footprint and energy requirement by 38%; however, increases water consumption by 47%. The result from CBA is that due to the lower weight of bio composite material, an airline can save €3382±338 on 1 out of 18 business class seats during 5 years of aircraft operation; hence, this is by how much ’bio seat’ can be more expensive to be still profitable. Therefore, the case study proves that bio composites might be better than conventional composites from an environmental and economic point of view. The case study presents that sustainability assessment provides information valuable for the decision-making process. Integrating environmental and economic assessment shows a bigger picture and broadens the perspective. Additionally, the analysis of technology based on theoretical frameworks provides important insights for both, decision-making and sustainability assessment. Also, the integration of LCA and CBA tools is concluded to be suitable for this purpose and the methodology is described. The problems associated with such tools combination are discussed, where double-counting is the challenge discovered in the study.
