Identificação das melhores áreas para implantação de um novo aeroporto em Santa Catarina utilizando Sistema de Informação Geográfica (SIG).

Engenharia Civil.Este trabalho propõe uma metodologia de aplicação em Sistema de Informação Geográfica (SIG) para o processo de escolha das melhores áreas para a implantação de um novo aeroporto no território do Estado de Santa Catarina. Com base nas normas vigentes e na bibliografia de planejamento de aeroportos selecionam-se critérios (restritivos ou classificatórios) relevantes para a localização de um aeroporto: Critérios restritivos operacionais, econômicos e ambientais e critérios classificatórios econômicos (ligados à demanda por transporte aéreo), de acessos terrestres e de proximidade aos centros urbanos. A partir da metodologia proposta organiza-se uma sequencia lógica de aplicação dos parâmetros e obtêm-se as localidades mais favoráveis. Os resultados deste trabalho demonstram a importância que o estudo do sítio aeroportuário, sobretudo valendo-se de um SIG, emprega ao planejamento de aeroportos
New insights on accretion in supergiant fast X-ray transients from XMM-Newton and INTEGRAL observations of IGR J17544-2619
XMM–Newton observations of the supergiant fast X-ray transient IGR J17544?2619 are reported and placed in the context of an analysis of archival INTEGRAL/IBIS data that provide a refined estimate of the orbital period at 4.9272?±?0.0004?d. A complete outburst history across the INTEGRAL mission is reported. Although the new XMM–Newton observations (each lasting ?15 ks) targeted the peak flux in the phase-folded hard X-ray light curve of IGR J17544?2619, no bright outbursts were observed, the source spending the majority of the exposure at intermediate luminosities of the order of several 1033?erg?s?1 (0.5–10 keV) and displaying only low level flickering activity. For the final portion of the exposure, the luminosity of IGR J17544?2619 dropped to ?4?×?1032?erg?s?1 (0.5–10 keV), comparable with the lowest luminosities ever detected from this source, despite the observations being taken near to periastron. We consider the possible orbital geometry of IGR J17544?2619 and the implications for the nature of the mass transfer and accretion mechanisms for both IGR J17544?2619 and the supergiant fast X-ray transients (SFXTs) population. We conclude that accretion under the ‘quasi-spherical accretion’ model provides a good description of the behaviour of IGR J17544?2619 and suggests an additional mechanism for generating outbursts based upon the mass accumulation rate in the hot shell (atmosphere) that forms around the neutron star under the quasi-spherical formulation. Hence, we hope to aid in explaining the varied outburst behaviours observed across the SFXT population with a consistent underlying physical model
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Focus of present study is on Author-Self-Archiving (A-S-A)Metadata of the 983 Eprints in the Live Archives of the E-LIS (EPrints of Library and Information Science),which were approved till 7th July 2004.The A-S-A Metadata was used for librametric analysis. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
Self-archiving practice and the influence of publisher policies in the social sciences
Authors in different disciplines exhibit very different behaviours on the so-called ‘green’ road to open access, i.e. self-archiving. This study looks at the self-archiving behaviour of authors publishing in leading journals in six social science disciplines. It tests the hypothesis that authors are self-archiving according to the norms of their respective disciplines rather than following self-archiving policies of publishers, and that, as a result, they are self-archiving significant numbers of publisher PDF versions. It finds significant levels of
self-archiving, as well as significant self-archiving of
the publisher PDF version, in all the disciplines
investigated. Publishers’ self-archiving policies have
no influence on author self-archiving practice
A 2 h periodic variation in the low-mass X-ray binary Ser X-1
Spectroscopy of the low-mass X-ray binary Ser X-1 using the Gran Telescopio Canarias have revealed a ?2 h periodic variability that is present in the three strongest emission lines. We tentatively interpret this variability as due to orbital motion, making it the first indication of the orbital period of Ser X-1. Together with the fact that the emission lines are remarkably narrow, but still resolved, we show that a main-sequence K dwarf together with a canonical 1.4 M? neutron star gives a good description of the system. In this scenario, the most likely place for the emission lines to arise is the accretion disc, instead of a localized region in the binary (such as the irradiated surface or the stream-impact point), and their narrowness is due instead to the low inclination (?10°) of Ser X-1

A qualidade dos grãos e novas tecnologias têm atraído estudos e interesse de agricultores sobre a melhor forma de armazenagem em pequena e grande escala. OO objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar aspectos da qualidade e armazenamento de variedades de feijão-comum crioulo cultivado ao longo do Juruá e seus afluentes no estado do Acre

Intercâmbio de informações para a produção de Cratylia argentea: em direção à construção de uma rede sociotécnica.
O presente trabalho descreve a situação atual de uma pretensa rede sociotécnica destinada à construção de conhecimento relativo à leguminosa perene Cratylia argentea. Entre os resultados do compartilhamento das sementes de C. argentea estão: uma dissertação de mestrado e uma tese de doutorado na UFV; parte um projeto de extensão UFVJM/Campus Mucuri; instalação de campo de sementes na Fazenda Experimental de Linhares, ES, do INCAPER e cultivo em área degradada na Unidade de Pesquisa de Produção Orgânica (UPPO) da Embrapa Mandioca e Fruticultura, em Cruz das Almas, BA. O acesso coletivo ás informações e conhecimentos sobre o manejo e uso de C. argentea permitirá o zoneamento de sua fase reprodutiva e da diversidade de insetos agentes de controle biológico e abelhas visitantes da planta. As ferramentas e a forma de aplicação dessa rede sociotécnica deverá ser parte de uma construção coletiva, fundamentada em princípios das redes.
