Proceedings of the LREC 2020 workshop on Resources and Techniques for User and Author Profiling in Abusive Language (ResT-UP 2020)
This volume documents the Proceedings of the 1st Workshop on Resources and Techniques for User and Author Profiling in Abusive Language (ResT-UP), held online on 12 May 2020 as part of the LREC 2020 conference (International Conference on Language Resources and Evaluation).
The workshop aimed at bringing together researchers and scholars working on author profiling and automatic detection of abusive language on the Web, e.g., cyberbullying or hate speech, with a twofold objective: improving the existing LRs, e.g., datasets, corpora, lexicons, and sharing ideas on stylometry techniques and features needed for profile information extraction and classification. ResT-UP targeted Profiling scholars and research groups, experts in Statistic and Stylistic Analysis of texts as well as computational linguists who investigate author profile and personality both in short texts (social media posts, blog texts and email) and in long texts (such as pamphlets, (fake) news and political documents). ReST-UP represented an opportunity to share profiling experiments with the scientific community and to show automatic detection techniques of abusive language on the Web. Despite the cancellation of LREC 2020 due to the COVID-19 international emergency, ResT-UP was organized online on Microsoft Teams on May 12th 2020 and the programme included three oral presentations and featured an invited talk by Paolo Rosso. ResT-UP was attended by about fifty representatives of academic and industrial organisations
Il pensiero come relazione o intero semantico? Intorno alla filosofia di Luciano Floridi
In Pensare l'infosfera La flosofa come design concettuale, Luciano Floridi states the value of a correct analysis and philosophical responses within the information age we are living in. The aim of this paper is to suggest several ideas for refecting on some of Floridi's topics such as the analysis of presence, relationship and semantization. In the second paragraph, after a brief introduction about the author, I will analyse philosophical insights on the relationship between being and determination. In the third paragraph, I am going to suggest the importance of a correct analysis of presence. In the fourth paragraph, a possible analogy between the philosophy of information and a certain form of neo-idealism will be shown. At last, I try to show how the philosophy of information can play a key role in the way we think about reality, but also its possible conceptual risks

Quantifying the efficacy of influenza vaccines
In their meta-analysis of the efficacy and effectiveness of influenza vaccines licensed in the USA, Michael Osterholm and colleagues1 stated that “evidence for protection in adults aged 65 years or older is lacking”, although chronic disorders such as cardiac and pulmonary diseases could require influenza vaccination. The cost-effectiveness of influenza vaccination policy requires consideration of adverse effects such as autoimmune disorders, which are rarely reported. Possible reasons for disregarding these events include the subacute presentation in some cases and the variable latency period (from days to years), which makes ascertainment of the causality link difficult.2
The 1976 national influenza immunisation programme against swine flu subtype A/NJ/76 in the USA was stopped because of the emergence of Guillain-Barré syndrome in some vaccine recipients. The USA, the UK, and Germany have initiated active surveillance studies to detect potential rare adverse events, and “the overall risk–benefit assessments must be interpreted very carefully, since the composition of annual influenza vaccines varies each season“3 and the risk of side-effects might depend on the subtype, or adjuvants, or both. For the past few years, all post-vaccination events have been included in the spectrum of autoimmune or inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants, because of previous exposure to immune adjuvants, including those used in vaccines to boost an immune response.4
In our Periodic Fevers Research Centre, which admits patients with fever of unknown origin, over 6 years we identified ten cases of giant cell arteritis or polymyalgia rheumatica, occurring within 3 months of influenza vaccination. A Medline search from 1978 to 2011 showed 11 isolated cases of the same disorders happening after influenza vaccination.5 Such disorders are common in people older than 65 years, who are a major target of influenza vaccination policy.
In the Comment accompanying Osterholm and colleagues' meta-analysis, Heath Kelly and Marta Valenciano6 state that “now might also be an appropriate time to use revised estimates of the most probable effectiveness of influenza vaccines to re-examine the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of some policy options”. We support this statement and suggest that evaluation of the costs of influenza vaccination should include autoimmune reactions as adverse effects, with both a central worldwide registration system and, where they exist, local active surveillance registries to monitor vaccine safety. This strategy could be useful to identify genetic markers of populations at high risk for after-vaccination autoimmune events and to develop more effective, safe, and personalised vaccines

Retinoid regulated macrophage cholesterol efflux involves the steroidogenic acute regulatory protein
AbstractElimination of excess cholesteryl esters from macrophage-derived foam cells is known to be a key process in limiting plaque stability and progression of atherosclerotic lesions. We have recently demonstrated that regulation of retinoid mediated cholesterol efflux is influenced by liver X receptor (LXR) signaling in mouse macrophages (Manna, P.R. et al., 2015, Biochem. Biophys. Res. Commun., 464:312-317). The data presented in this article evaluate the importance of the steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (StAR) in retinoid mediated macrophage cholesterol efflux. Overexpression of StAR in mouse RAW 264.7 macrophages increased the effects of both all-trans retinoic acid (atRA) and 9-cis RA on cholesterol efflux, suggesting StAR enhances the efficacy of retinoic acid receptor (RAR) and/or retinoid X receptor (RXR) ligands. Additional data revealed that atRA enhances (Bu)2cAMP induced StAR and ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 protein levels. Treatment of macrophages transfected with an LXRE reporter plasmid (pLXREx3-Luc) was found to induce the effects of RAR and RXR analogs on LXR activity
Queue Model Analysis at PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Manna Branch Office in South Bengkulu
The purpose of this study was to describe the teller waiting list at the Bank Rakyat Indonesia Manna branch office in Bengkulu Selatan. This research is a type of qualitative descriptive research that explains how the application of the queuing system at the BRI bank teller Manna Branch Office in South Bengkulu. The data collection method of this study uses observation and the tool used to make observations is a stop watch which is used to measure how long it takes customers to make transactions at the teller and will be calculated using the B model: M / M / S (Multi-Channel Single Phas) model. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the service provided by the level of use of 3 teller facilities is still not optimal and the utility level is still low if the number of customers is above 173 per day. Therefore, based on the analysis, there must be an alternative done by the bank by adding 1 teller. And in quiet conditions or not busy days because it has a low level of facility usability and a low level of teller busyness, the author suggests that the BRI bank Manna Branch Office in South Bengkulu for tellers can be utilized for other work such as clearing administration and tax report
"Manna Polonicum" : between cultural history and phytology
Manna Polonica (Glyceria flutans) is referred occasionally - from the sixteenth to the eig-hteenth century - in early modern herbaria books printed in Polish and mentioned in German language cookbooks, agricultural books and encyclopaedias. The Polish botanist Josef Rostafinski (1850-1928) conducted extensive research about wild plants gathered as food in eastern Poland and in Belarus (also Glyceria flutans) and connected this phenomenon with the survival of early Slavic tribes ecology. Amodern ethnobotanist recognised that gathering of Glyceria perished in Poland in the last decade of the nineteenth century, because of the disappearance of wetland areas. But the author of the article suggests that this practice survived as acultural relict into the 1930s in some places in the Łódź voivodeship. He relies on oral history, from old members of his family, born in the village of Solca Wielka in Central Poland, located near the wetlands of the Bzura river, atributary of the Vistula
