Silicon slow-light-based photonic mixer for microwave-frequencyconversion applications

Systematic or multiple reproduction or distribution to multiple locations via electronic or other means is prohibited and is subject to penalties under law[EN] We describe and demonstrate experimentally a method for photonic mixing of microwave signals by using a silicon electro-optical Mach¿Zehnder modulator enhanced via slow-light propagation. Slow light with a group index of ~11, achieved in a one-dimensional periodic structure, is exploited to improve the upconversion performance of an input frequency signal from 1 to 10.25 GHz. A minimum transmission point is used to successfully demonstrate the upconversion with very low conversion losses of ~7¿¿dB and excellent quality of the received I/Q modulated QPSK signal with an optimum EVM of ~8%.Financial support from FP7-224312 HELIOS project and Generalitat Valenciana under PROMETEO-2010-087 R&D Excellency Program (NANOMET) are acknowledged. KONSTRUKSI BERKELANJUTAN DI KONSTRUKSI INDONESIA BERDASARKAN PERMEN PUPR NO 9 TAHUN 2021: A REVIEW
Pembangunan berkelanjutan atau sustainable development merupakan konsep pengembangan dengan memperhatikan nilai-nilai dari kehidupan manusia dimasa mendatang. Dalam dunia konstruksi, konstruksi berkelanjutan menjadi sebuah konsep yang diterapkan oleh banyak negara dalam pelaksanaan proyek konstruksi. Di Indonesia, penerapan konstruksi berkelanjutan menjadi hal yang sangat serius dan diatur pada Peraturan Menteri PUPR Nomor 9 Tahun 2021. Dalam peraturan perundang-undangan tersebut, menegaskan bahwa pelaksanaan konstruksi diharuskan sadar akan (1) meningkatkan perekonomian dalam kesejahteraan masyarakat, (2) menjaga pelestarian lingkungan, dan (3) mengurangi disparitas sosial masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi penerapan konstruksi berkelanjutan dengan menggunakan metode literature review. Metode pengumpulan dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan tools advance search pada laman “google scholar” dengan menggunakan pengaturan tahun publikasi dari tahun 2021 sampai sekarang, Bahasa Indonesia, dan kata kunci “Konstruksi Berkelanjutan”. Sejumlah 20 artikel sikumpulkan dan dilanjutkan dengan full screening text dan menyisakan 4 artikel yang diikutkan kedalam penelitian literature review. Teknik selanjutnya dilakukan dengan metode snowballing dan menambahkan sejumlah 6 artikel yang berkaitan dengan konstruksi berkelanjutan. Total 10 artikel dalam analisis literature review menajdi data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan dalam penerapan konstruksi berkelanjutan terdapat 5 (lima) hal yang perlu dalam perhatian serius dalam penerapan konstruksi berkelanjutan, antara lain: (a) sumber daya manusia, (b) pendidikan, (c) kebijakan atau regulasi, (d) manajemen kualitas dna evaluasi, (e) pemangku kepentingan / stakeholder. Hal-hal tersebut dapat menajdi rekomendasi yag perlu diperhatikan oleh pihak yang terlibat dalam dunia konstruksi khususnya pejabat pembuat regulasi dan para pihak yang terlibat langsung dalam dunia konstruksi
MeSH term explosion and author rank improve expert recommendations
Information overload is an often-cited phenomenon that reduces the productivity, efficiency and efficacy of scientists. One challenge for scientists is to find appropriate collaborators in their research. The literature describes various solutions to the problem of expertise location, but most current approaches do not appear to be very suitable for expert recommendations in biomedical research. In this study, we present the development and initial evaluation of a vector space model-based algorithm to calculate researcher similarity using four inputs: 1) MeSH terms of publications; 2) MeSH terms and author rank; 3) exploded MeSH terms; and 4) exploded MeSH terms and author rank. We developed and evaluated the algorithm using a data set of 17,525 authors and their 22,542 papers. On average, our algorithms correctly predicted 2.5 of the top 5/10 coauthors of individual scientists. Exploded MeSH and author rank outperformed all other algorithms in accuracy, followed closely by MeSH and author rank. Our results show that the accuracy of MeSH term-based matching can be enhanced with other metadata such as author rank
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Both spending and tax policies have been implemented in the United States with the goal of stimulating private sector research and development (R&D). Karier questions whether current R&D policy, especially the research and experimentation tax credit, can contribute to closing the gap between nondefense expenditures on R&D in the United States and such expenditures in other countries, such as Japan and Germany. He also explores possible changes to our current R&D policy to make it more effective.
PMRI and Metacognitive Scaffolding
PMRI (Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia) has been implemented in some Primary Schools in Indonesia since 2001. Sanata Dharma University (USD) in Yogyakarta is one of the four universities which founded the PMRI Movement. Sanata Dharma University tries to keep its commitment to apply and develop PMRI as one alternative to improve the quality of mathematics education in Indonesia. In the process of development, P4MRI in USD also pays attention to the results of research in various disciplines, e.g. cognitive psychology, cognitive science and neuro science. One of the weakness of mathematics teaching and learning in Indonesia is the teacher centre approach. It is used in practice by most of teachers in the classroom. Their paradigm is related to teaching paradigm. In PMRI we use the learning paradigm in practicing the idea of Freudenthal that mathematics is human activities and pupils learn mathematics based on their experiences. We ask teachers to help students improving their understanding of mathematics by familiarizing them to pose questions to themselves: what, how and why. In solving a problem, the teacher lets them freely to find out their strategy and discuss it in their small group. The teacher helps them by giving some comments on their planning of solution or some suggestions, e.g. “ do some exploration, make a table or a figure, or specialize!”

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
