Race car performance evaluation by a neuro-fuzzy inference system
No full textIn this paper, a tool supporting racing car design and set-up is proposed. A neuro-fuzzy inference system is used to model performance using set-up parameters. This approach has been suggested by the need of adopting a linguistic description of the system itself. The network has been developed by performance simulations of a race car in known conditions. A variational analysis of the output surfaces can provide a simply way to achieve the desired car performance

No full textThe essay aims at showing the development of the critical thought about Prometheus Bound that underlied the staging of this tragedy at the Teatro Greco of Siracusa during the spring of 2012. The performance was directed by the author of these pages for the Istituto nazionale del dramma antico (premiere: Siracusa, 11th May). In the framework of a hermeneutic paradigm based on the ‘critically’ untimely nature of the classic, the staging of Prometheus here discussed wanted to inquire the role of sight in the orchestration of this tragedy, as well as to account for the way time is treated in the text. In the light of this approach, Prometheus looks like a cruel portrait of a world in a state of crisis, suspended between two disasters (one has just ended, the other is looming ominously on the horizon); from its remote distance, such a world gives us an image both lucid and alienated of our present.Il saggio si propone di restituire il percorso di riflessione critica intorno al Prometeo incatenato che nella primavera del 2012 ha sostanziato il processo di messa in scena della tragedia presso il teatro greco di Siracusa, curata dall’autore di queste pagine per conto dell’Istituto nazionale del dramma antico (debutto: Siracusa, 11 maggio). Entro un paradigma ermeneutico fondato sul principio dell’inattualità ‘critica’ del classico, l’allestimento del Prometeo di cui qui si riferisce punta a indagare il ruolo svolto dallo sguardo nell’orchestrazione della tragedia, così come a render ragione del trattamento cui la funzione tempo è sottoposta nell’opera. Sulla base di un simile approccio, il Prometeo appare così come un crudele ritratto di un mondo in crisi sospeso tra due catastrofi (l’una appena trascorsa, l’altra minacciosamente incombente all’orizzonte); un mondo che dalla sua remota distanza ci consegna un’immagine ad un tempo lucida e straniata del nostro presente.</p

Diversidade das tribos Eragrostideae stapf e Zoyseae benth (Poaceae - Chloridoideae) na Ilha de Santa Catarina, Brasil

Biologia.The tribes Eragrostideae Stapf and Zoysieae Benth (Poaceae – Chloridoideae) contain about nine and seven genera, respectively, and representants with high distribution in open areas of tropical and subtropical regions around the world, occupying meadows and antropized locals. The achievement of this study is to make a survey of the species belonging to these two tribes that occurs in Santa Catarina Island, Brazil. Intensive collect fields were made around the study area, as well as FLOR, HBR, ICN and SP herbaria collection revision. It was confirmed the Eragrostis Wolf. genus with 15 species in the Eragrostideae tribe, consisting in eight native and seven subespontaneous exotic species. It was found, for the Zoysieae tribe, 2 genera with native representants, Spartina Schreber, with 3 species and Sporobolus (L.) Br., with 2 species and also Zoysia tenuifolia Thiele and Zoysia japonica Steud., cultivated species untreated in the study. Between the Eragrostis species, six are cited for the first time in Santa Catarina State, and consequently to the Island: E. macrothyrsa Hack., E. minor Host., E. paniciformis (A. Br.) Steud., E. neesii Trin (which is represented by E. neesii var. lindmanii (Hack.) Ekman.), E. tenella (L.) P. Beauv. ex Roem. & Schult and E. tenuifolia (A. Rich.) Hochst. ex Steud., and for the first three it is the second record for Brazil. E. lugens Nees and E. plana Nees has its first record for the Santa Catarina Island. The work includes identification key, illustrations, descriptions, as well as data on geografic distribution, habitat, flowering periods and general comments for the confirmed taxa.As tribos Eragrostideae Stapf e Zoysieae Benth (Poaceae – Chloridoideae) possuem cerca de nove e sete gêneros, respectivamente, com representantes de distribuição ampla em áreas abertas de regiões tropicais e subtropicais do globo, ocupando campos e locais antropizados. O presente estudo consiste em um levantamento das espécies pertencentes às duas tribos ocorrentes na Ilha de Santa Catarina, Brasil. Foram realizadas coletas intensivas, bem como a revisão de coleções dos herbários FLOR, HBR, ICN, MBM e SP. Para a tribo Eragrostideae foi confirmada a ocorrência do gênero Eragrostis Wolf. com 15 espécies, sendo sete exóticas subespontâneas e oito nativas. Para a tribo Zoysieae foram constatados dois gêneros com representantes nativos, Spartina Schreb., com três espécies e Sporobolus (L.) R. Br. com duas espécies, além de Zoysia tenuifolia Thiele e Zoysia japonica Steud., espécies cultivadas e não tratadas no trabalho. Entre as espécies de Eragrostis, seis constituem-se em citações novas para o Estado de Santa Catarina e consequentemente para a Ilha de Santa Catarina: Eragrostis macrothyrsa Hack., E. minor Host., E. paniciformis (A. Br.) Steud., E. neesii Trin. (representada por E. neesii var. lindmanii (Hack.) Ekman), E. tenella (L.) P. Beauv. ex Roem. & Schult. e E. tenuifolia (A. Rich.) Hochst. ex Steud., sendo que para as três primeiras trata-se do segundo registro para o Brasil. E. lugens Nees e E. plana Nees, tem seu primeiro registro para a Ilha de Santa Catarina. O trabalho inclui chave de identificação, ilustrações e descrições, além de informações sobre a distribuição geográfica, período de florescimento e comentários gerais sobre os táxons confirmados
Experimental Validation of a Sliding Mode Controller for Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motors
No full textThis paper focusses on the experimental testing of a sliding mode controller designed for a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). A cascade control scheme is proposed which provides accurate speed and position tracking performance. The controller is experimentally tested on a commercial PMSM drive. Reported experimental evidence shows that the proposed controller produces good speed and position trajectory tracking performance and is robust in the presence of disturbances affecting the system
