Handling Modifiers in Question Answering over Knowledge Graphs
Question Answering (QA) over Knowledge Graphs (KGs) has gained its momentum thanks to the spread of the Semantic Web. However, despite the abundance of methods proposed in this field, there are still many aspects that need to be fully covered. One of them is the generation of SPARQL queries with modifiers, i.e. queries that are made up not only by triple patterns but also other terms belonging to the SPARQL syntax, such as FILTER, LIMIT, COUNT, ORDER BY. This task results difficult to accomplish in a generic way since the matching with natural language is not straightforward. Few works try to address this complex issue. In this paper, we propose a new approach to handle and to generate queries containing modifiers. Our method is able to generate queries with multiple modifiers, it is easily extendable to cover new modifiers and new languages, and it is independent of the KG structure. Our approach represents an extension of an existing work called QAnswer
Proceedings of the LREC 2020 workshop on Resources and Techniques for User and Author Profiling in Abusive Language (ResT-UP 2020)
This volume documents the Proceedings of the 1st Workshop on Resources and Techniques for User and Author Profiling in Abusive Language (ResT-UP), held online on 12 May 2020 as part of the LREC 2020 conference (International Conference on Language Resources and Evaluation).
The workshop aimed at bringing together researchers and scholars working on author profiling and automatic detection of abusive language on the Web, e.g., cyberbullying or hate speech, with a twofold objective: improving the existing LRs, e.g., datasets, corpora, lexicons, and sharing ideas on stylometry techniques and features needed for profile information extraction and classification. ResT-UP targeted Profiling scholars and research groups, experts in Statistic and Stylistic Analysis of texts as well as computational linguists who investigate author profile and personality both in short texts (social media posts, blog texts and email) and in long texts (such as pamphlets, (fake) news and political documents). ReST-UP represented an opportunity to share profiling experiments with the scientific community and to show automatic detection techniques of abusive language on the Web. Despite the cancellation of LREC 2020 due to the COVID-19 international emergency, ResT-UP was organized online on Microsoft Teams on May 12th 2020 and the programme included three oral presentations and featured an invited talk by Paolo Rosso. ResT-UP was attended by about fifty representatives of academic and industrial organisations
Giovan Battista Basile tra “favole” campanilistiche e realtà documentaria
This essay examines how the false belief that Giovan Battista Basile – the celebrated author of Lo Cunto de li Cunti – was born in Giugliano (Campania, Italy) on February 15, 1566, as the second son of Giovanni Giacomo Basile and Laudonia Milone arose and spread. “Cavalier” Basile actually died in Giugliano on February 23, 1632, from a virulent epidemic of diphtheria, after serving only a few days as feudal governor of Giugliano. Supported by a local priest as early as 1715, and later by local journalists, the erroneous thesis – based on a case of homonymy that actually debases the true identity of Basile’s birth parents – was however further revived in the 1970s-1980s by the media. This essay definitively refuses the false “Giugliano thesis” by gathering extremely detailed information from many different sources (Basile’s works, letters, and new unpublished documents). Through these researches, it can be definitively concluded that the famous writer Giovan Battista and the well-known singer Andreana, his sister, were born respectively in 1583 and 1586 in Naples to Francesco Antonio Basile and Cornelia Daniele and were both registered in the parish of Sant’Anna di Palazzo.

Giovan Battista Filippo Basile e Gottfried Semper.
With this essay the author seeks to give a contribution regarding Giovan Battista Filippo Basile, a central figure in the architectural of Palermo and the Sicilian architect of greatest European resonance during the period of italian unification. The text links the theoretical work of Giovan Battista Filippo Basile to that of Gottfried Semper, and underlines the European dimension of Basile’s thought. This essay emphasizes the importance of the role played by a rational and theoretical foundation allied with the critical examination of the societal values as expressed in the actions of architects. In the eyes of the author this disciplinary approach gives the teaching and meditations of Semper and Basile current validity appea
The Author, starting from the assumption that Italy is characterized, more and more, to be a multicultural society, deals with culturally motivated crimes, which represent a particular manifestation of crime of immigrants. Specified the notion of “culture”, to be understood according to the definition provided by the anthropological sciences, the Author developed another premise concerning the criminal law which, more than other sectors of the legal system, is characterized by its “locality” and “provinciality”. After examining the definition of a culturally motivated crime, the Author questions how criminal law should react to such situations. After an overview of the main cases the Author finally reflects on the possible role of the cultural defense
Barocco italiano; Giovan Battista Basile
These are two chapters of the volume titled Letteratura, ed. by Giulio Ferroni; the first is dedicated to a reassessment of the concept of Baroque in a new perspective; the second is a little monograph about the author of Lo Cunto de li Cunti, considering also his literary production in italian language
The Party Politics of Decentralization: The Territorial Dimension in Italian Party Agendas
This book addresses the process of decentralization in Italy, examined from the perspective of political parties. In particular, it assesses whether and to what extent the dynamics of party competition are likely to shape policy agenda and affect policy change. The author starts by providing a thorough account of the process and history of Italian decentralization and the policy outcomes achieved over time, before discussing how party attention to an issue triggers related policy changes (manipulation of salience). Next, the focus shifts to the concrete positions adopted by parties on decentralization to assess whether the pattern of party competition has been consensual or adversarial, and how this pattern influenced the process of reform (manipulation of position). Finally, the author examines the role of frames in party competition. This volume offers essential research that will prove useful to a variety of audiences, ranging from scholars of territorial and Italian politics to those interested in agenda-setting, policy change, and party politics

Patterns of narration in European folktale : Basile, Perrault, the Grimms
"In this study I examine three fairy tale authors, Giambattista Basile, Charles Perrault, and Jacob and William Grimm, and their versions of five fairy tales. These stories are known in English as "Cinderella," "Donkey-Skin," "The Fairies," "Sleeping Beauty," and "Hansel and Gretel." This paper demonstrates the similarities and dissimilarities between the versions in regard to such aspects as story line, sexuality, the supernatural, characterization and tone. The changes that each author imposed on his stories are a result of his target readership. For Basile, this readership was comprised of adults at the Neapolitan Court; for Perrault, adults and young women of the nobility and aristocracy; for the Grimms, children of bourgeois households"--Page iv.Germanic Studie
