STAR: Sea Turtle Basic Activity Recognizer Network via Efficient Transformer
Sea turtles are endemic to several islands and are crucial in maintaining ecosystem balance. However, they face significant threats from poaching, extreme weather conditions, and abnormal activities. Monitoring and protecting their habitats has become a key focus in blue economy research, a priority program in several developed nations. Observing sea turtle behavior not only aids in conservation efforts but also supports the development of behavioral analysis that can serve as metrics for further research. In this work, we propose STAR, a basic turtle activity recognition system, employing an efficient deep learning approach. This system categorizes simple activities such as swimming, eating, hiding, resting, and other distinct behaviors. An effective network is offered by utilizing enhanced modules to discriminate activity features involving sequential frames. In addition, a lightweight transformer is presented as a novel attentive module that improves the feature extraction ability. Another contribution offers a new video dataset of sea turtle activity recognition captured underwater from various turtle poses. Several extensive experiments analyzed the performances of essential modules and achieved satisfactory results compared to other lightweight models. The efficiency of the STAR model shows that it obtained fast data processing speed without abundant computational resources in single-frame analysis. Applying this recognition system requires sea turtle detection to capture the area of interest in the beginning process
Node-indri: Moving the indri toolkit to the modern web stack
We introduce node-indri, a Node.js module that acts as a wrapper around the Indri toolkit, and thus makes an established IR toolkit accessible to the modern web stack. node-indri exposes many of Indri’s functionalities and provides direct access to document content and retrieval scores for web development (in contrast to, for instance, the Pyndri wrapper). This setup reduces the amount of glue code that has to be developed and maintained when researching search interfaces, which today tend to be developed with specific JavaScript libraries such as React.js, Angular.js or Vue.js. The node-indri repository is open-sourced at https://github.com/felipemoraes/node-indri.Web Information System
Dockerizing indri for OSIRRC 2019
The Lemur Project was set up in 2000 by the Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval at UMass Amherst. It is one of the longest lasting open-source projects in the information retrieval (IR) research community. Among the released tools is Indri, a popular search engine that was designed for language-modeling based approaches to IR. For OSIRRC 2019 we dockerized Indri and added support for the Robust04, Core18 and GOV2 test collections.Web Information System
Complete Genome Sequence of Torque teno indri virus 1, a Novel Anellovirus in Blood from a Free-Living Lemur
abstract: We identified Torque teno indri virus 1 (TTIV1), the first anellovirus in a free-living lemur (Indri indri). The complete circular 2,572-nucleotide (nt) TTIV1 genome is distantly related to torque teno sus virus. Phylogenetic and sequence analyses support TTIV1 as a putative member of a new genus within the Anelloviridae family. The final version of this article, as published in Genome Announcements, can be viewed online at: http://genomea.asm.org/content/5/30/e00698-1
Kontribusi terumbu buatan (Reef Ball) dalam pengembangan minawisata bahari di Wilayah Pesisir Ratatotok Sulawesi Utara
Impacts of artificial reefs (reef ball) and its potential for the development of fisheries and marine tourism is presented in this paper. The study was conducted to analyze the ecological and economic impacts of artificial reefs, to assess the suitability of the area for the development of marine tourism and fisheries, and to formulate integrated management strategies of artificial reef region, in Ratatotok coastal areas, North Sulawesi, from 2009 to 2011. The results showed that artificial reefs presence for about 11 years has affected the ecological and economic coral reef ecosystems. It is showed that by using Scenic Beauty Estimation (SBE) method the location with coral reef has higher visual level preference than the locations without the artificial reef. Regional conformity assessment results showed that the location is suitable as marine tourism area and small-scale coral reefs fisheries. Moreover, integrated management strategies appropriate to support the development of marine tourism and fisheries in the region and boost the economy of coastal communities while still maintaining the sustainability of coral reef ecosystems
