Les limites du visible: réflexions sur la représentation picturale de l'esclavage dans l'oeuvre de Rugendas et de Debret
No full textQuelles modulations la perspective artistique développe- t-elle au Brésil au milieu du XIX e siècle, pour représenter les secteurs populaires, et en particulier le monde esclave? Notre article part de cette question pour réfléchir sur quelques oeuvres picturales produites par les européens Johann M. Rugendas et Jean-Baptiste Debret. Nous y considérons particulièrement quelques planches présentes dans Viagem pitoresca através do Brasil (1835) de Rugendas, et dans Viagem pitoresca e histórica ao Brasil (1834-1839) de Debret. Nous nous centrons sur un corpus d'images paradigmatiques pour percevoir comment sont conceptualisés esthétiquement les secteurs populaires brésiliens (en particulier, les esclaves des "fazendas" et de la capitale). En effet, au Brésil, ces deux artistes abordent de manière explicite la thématique esclave, tout en adoptant une perspective de dénonciation malgré les pressions exercées par les institutions impériales. L'analyse critique de quelques images et des essais qui les accompagnent (écrits par les mêmes auteurs) permet de découvrir les difficultés éthiques et esthétiques que suppose l'appréhension de cet univers marginal. De notre point de vue, ces artistes remarquent que l'expérience esclave instaure un excès qui dépasse les limites éthiques et esthétiques de l'art (spécialement, en rendant impossible la stylisation pleinement romantique développée "sans conflits" face à un monde indigène plus facilement idéalisable).Fil: Mailhe, Alejandra. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
No full textWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
