No full textThe Qur’anic Exegesis of Mahmud Yunus is one of the most popular Indonesian-language tafsir works among Indonesian Muslims. This article examines the strengths and weaknesses of the tafsir, as well as its relevance in contemporary studies. Its main strengths lie in the use of accessible and easy-to-understand language, a structured method of interpretation, and a scientific approach that links Qur’anic verses with developments in modern knowledge. The contextual approach and the socio-cultural relevance to the Indonesian setting are added values that make it suitable as a practical learning source and introductory reference for the general public in understanding the Qur’an. Moreover, the use of the tahlili method in interpretation presents a verse-by-verse analysis, complete with vocabulary explanations, background of revelation (asbāb al-nuzūl), and scholarly opinions, providing a comprehensive and systematic picture. However, there are several limitations that need to be considered, such as the minimal use of in-depth linguistic analysis, limited exploration of differences in scholarly opinion, and the lack of attention to Sufi and philosophical dimensions. Furthermore, challenges in maintaining accuracy in Indonesian linguistic structure and the possibility of varied interpretations are also notable concerns. Overall, this tafsir serves well as an introductory and practical reference, but may be insufficient for more advanced and in-depth exegetical studies. This research is expected to help readers understand the strengths and limitations of Mahmud Yunus’s tafsir and assess its relevance within the context of modern Islamic studies.

Artikel ini mengkaji kelebihan dan kekurangan dari tafsir tersebut, serta menilai relevansinya dalam studi kontemporer. Kelebihan utama dari tafsir ini terletak pada penggunaan bahasa yang ringan dan mudah dipahami, sistem penafsiran yang terstruktur, serta pendekatan ilmiah yang menghubungkan ayat-ayat Al-Qur'an dengan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan modern. Pendekatan kontekstual dan relevansi sosial budaya Indonesia menjadi nilai tambah yang membuatnya cocok sebagai sumber pembelajaran praktis dan pengantar pemahaman Al-Qur'an bagi masyarakat umum. Selain itu, metode tahlili yang digunakan dalam penafsiran menampilkan analisis ayat demi ayat lengkap dengan penjelasan kosa kata, latar belakang turunnya ayat, dan pendapat ulama, sehingga memberikan gambaran yang komprehensif dan sistematis. Namun, terdapat beberapa kekurangan yang perlu diperhatikan, seperti minimnya analisis linguistik mendalam, kurangnya eksplorasi terhadap perbedaan pendapat ulama, serta terbatasnya pembahasan aspek sufistik dan filosofis. Selain itu, tantangan dalam menjaga keakuratan struktur bahasa Indonesia dan kemungkinan interpretasi yang beragam juga menjadi catatan penting. Secara umum, tafsir ini sangat berguna sebagai pengantar dan sumber praktis, namun kurang memadai untuk kajian tafsir yang mendalam dan komprehensif. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat membantu pembaca memahami keunggulan dan keterbatasan tafsir Mahmud Yunus serta menilai relevansinya dalam konteks studi keislaman modern.

MAHMUD YUNUS DAN PEMIKIRANNYA DALAM PENDIDIKAN
No full textAs an innovator in educational thought in Indonesia, Mahmud Yunus has pioneered several innovated works. Among his innovated thoughts in education, especially in terms of educational institution are: grading the education levels in accordance with the age of pupils, establishing PGA (senior high schools for Islamic teaching teacher training), and ADIA (Academy of Islamic Studies) in Jakarta. In terms of teaching methods, Mahmud Yunus pioneered the application of Directs Methods (thariqal al- mubasyarah), in teaching Arabic. On of his important ideas deal with the nation that "methods of instruction are more important than that of material"(al thariqatu ahammu min al maddah). Jenis penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara. Teknis analisis data adalah reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Kritik Mahmud Sa'id Mamduh terhadap Muhammad Nasiruddin al-Albany dalam Sunan al-Arba'ah
No full textKritik hadis sudah dilakukan oleh ulama hadis terdahulu. Tradisi kritik hadis ini terus berlanjut hingga zaman sekarang. Diantara para ulama kontemporer yang melakukan kritik hadis adalah Muhammad Nasiruddin al-Albany. Al-Albany menggunakan metode yang tidak sama dengan para pendahulunya, yaitu dengan mengelompokkan hadis-hadis da‘if pada kitab khusus, serta hadis-hadis sahih pada kitab khusus. Selain itu ketidakkonsistenan al-Albany dalam menghukumi perawi berakibat kepada banyaknya kritik yang bermunculan dari ulama hadis mancanegara. Salah satunya adalah dari Mesir yang dilakukan oleh Mahmud Sa‘id Mamduh. Pada tulisan ini, penulis menitik beratkan pembahasannya kepada tiga poin penting: 1) Apa yang melatarbelakangi Mahmud Sa‘id Mamduh melakukan kritik kepada Muhammad Nasiruddin al-Albany? 2) Bagaimana metode kritik Mahmud Sa‘id Mamduh terhadap Muhammad Nasiruddin al-Albany? 3) Apa implikasi yang ditimbulkan dari kritik Mahmud Sa‘id Mamduh terhadap metode al-Albany? Untuk membedah rumusan masalah di ats, penulis menggunakan jenis penelitian literer atau studi pustaka dengan naskah-naskah, baik dari buku-buku maupun naskah lainnya yang berhubungan dengan persoalan yang dibahas. penulis berusaha mengambil konsep-konsep yang dipaparkan Mahmud Sa‘id Mamduh dalam al-Ta‘rif, serta kritiknya terhadap metode yang digunakan al-Albany dalam setiap kitabnya. Di akhir pembahasan, penulis menyimpulkan hasil penelitian berupa penerimaan atau penolakan kritik Mamduh terhadap al-Albany. Jika kritik Mamduh dinyatakan benar, maka hal tersebut berimplikasi kepada perlunya melakukan revisi kepada kitab-kitab al-Albany. No full textتبحث ورقة البحث هذه، موضوعة قناع الصّوفي فريد الدين العطار، كما تظهر من خلال شعر عبد الوهاب البيّاتي، ومحمود درويش، بالإضافة إلى أنّ هذه الورقة تبحث أيضًا العلاقة بين القناع الصّوفي والتّناص، وبين الشّعر والميتاشعر. وبالرغم من المسافة الزمنية التي تفصل شعراء الحداثة البياتي ودرويش عن العطار إلاّ أنّ أمورًا متشابهة تجمعهم. فثلاثتهم حاولوا إصلاح المجتمع عبر الكفاح على طريقة الشّعر والشّعراء، وروّجوا الأفكار الشّعريّة الثوريّة والصّوفيّة، الأمر الذي أسقط معانٍ مُغايرة على أشعارهم وقصائدهم. أكثر من ذلك فقد عُرف هؤلاء بأكبر الشعراء في زمانهم، وقد مثّلوا بصدق روح عصرهم وحضارتهم.This paper discusses the mask of Farīd ed-Dīn Al-`Aṭṭār as portrayed in the poetry of Abdul Wahab Al-Bayyati and Mahmud Darwish with the aim of studying the concatenation between the Sufi mask and intertextuality, and between poetry and meta-poetry. Despite the gap of time that separates Darwish and Al-Bayyati from Al-`Aṭṭār, they share a lot of common points. Both were exposed to oppression by the ruling authorities. As a result, they led a life of bitter struggle using the weapon of poetry. More important, they came across the revolutionary ideas and practices of Sufism, which endowed them with an ever-flowing river of mystic thoughts and an impetus to their struggle. Moreover, they were both celebrated as great and well-known poets. They left a rich legacy whose impact was so profound, wide and everlasting that it transcended their own culture and time. 77-11
