Magnus effect application on wind turbines
openLo scopo della mia tesi è quello di analizzare l'effetto Magnus e di valutarne le potenziali applicazioni nel campo della produzione di energia.
Nella prima parte della presente tesi si fornisce panoramica generale dell’effetto Magnus, illustrando i principi alla base di questo fenomeno fisico, il quale si manifesta quando un corpo rotante si muove all’interno di un fluido. Successivamente, vengono esaminate alcune applicazioni ingegneristiche del fenomeno, tra le quali la propulsione navale mediante l’impiego di rotori Flettner. Infine, l’elaborato si concentra sull’utilizzo dell’effetto Magnus per la generazione di energia tramite turbine eoliche dotate di cilindri rotanti in sostituzione delle tradizionali pale.The aim of my dissertation is to investigate the Magnus effect with a focus on its potential applications for power production.
In the first part of the present thesis a general overview of the Magnus effect is provided, along with an illustration of the reasons behind this physical phenomenon that occurs when a spinning object is moving through a fluid. Subsequently, some engineering applications of the Magnus effect are taken into exam, including ship propulsion through Flettner rotors. Finally, this paper focuses on the application of the Magnus effect in power production through Magnus wind turbines equipped with rotating cylinders instead of traditional blades

This work – actually in seven books, two of which are missing here – represents a small part of the extraordinarily extensive opus by the Doctor of the Church and universal scholar, whose fame was surpassed soon after his death by that of his student Thomas Aquinas. Analisi e tipologizzazione dei neologismi emersi in concomitanza con la pandemia COVID-19
A partire dal 2019, la comunità globale è stata colpita dalla pandemia di COVID-19, un virus la cui diffusione ha trasformato, in Italia come nel resto del mondo, il modo di vivere – con i lockdown, il distanziamento sociale e le autoquarantene, e ha introdotto nuovi oggetti, professioni e concetti quali il covid-manager, la mascherina di comunità, e il reddito di quarantena. Il grande numero di neologismi entrati nella lingua italiana in relazione con la pandemia da un lato indicano la gravità e la novità di una situazione che non ha eguali nella storia recente; dall’altro è un’occasione per studiare in tempo reale le modalità di formazione di nuovi termini o i criteri secondo i quali alcuni forestierismi entrano e sono integrati nella lingua italiana. Quindi questa presentazione cercherà di indicare quali tendenze si osservano nelle modalità di formazione dei neologismi nella lingua italiana e quali regole si seguono per la formazione, l’integrazione di calchi, prestiti e neosemismi. Applicando un metodo descrittivo e di analisi sincronica si analizzano termini ed espressioni raccolti in un corpus linguistico creato ad hoc con i neologismi più comuni e meglio integrati per il periodo tra la fine del 2019 e il primo semestre del 2021. Lo studio ha rilevato che la maggior parte delle nuove parole sono prestiti non adattati.
