Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Manajemen Pendidikan dalam Perspektif Islam
The basic principles of management can be narrowed down to four things: [1] people; [2] resources; [3] goals; and [4] time. When these four elements are realized, they appear as a social unit called an "organization". It can be concluded that management work is a subsystem of the organization. Management is the key to organizational success because with effective management, organizations can achieve goals efficiently. Management in the Qur'an is not clearly stated. But the function or purpose in the conceptual approach of the Qur'an as values will be found to be much relevant. These values include: [1] Management as an individual and collective responsibility (QS. 99:7-8). [2] Management as a means of dividing work (QS. 06:165). [3] Management as work that must be accounted for (QS. 52:21 and QS. 74:38). [4] Management as a way of efficient and productive financial management (QS. 25:67). [5] Management as planning and foresight (QS. 59:18). The dynamics of thought on Islam and education are mapped: [1] The radical and scripturalist “universalist” group. Its figures are: Sheikh Hasan al-Banna, Sayyid Qutb, Sheikh Muhammad Rasyid Ridla, and Maulana Abul A’la al-Maududi. Their argument: Islam regulates the way of life from the smallest to the largest problems, including the education system. [2] The group influenced by western liberalism. Its figures are: Ali Abd al-Razik and Thaha Husein. Their argument: There is no Islamic education but Islamic education. [3] The group that tends to be liberal. Its figures include Husein Haikal. Their argument: Education is an area of creative thinking (ijtihadi) on the foundation of Islamic values
HEGEMONI KIAI TERHADAP DEMOKRATISASI DI PESANTREN:: Analisis Bahasa Tutur Pengasuh PP Raudlatul Ulum 2 Putukrejo Gondanglegi Malang
This research tries to uncover kiai's hegemony based on the perspective of language which is correlated with the discourse of democratic values. Gramsci's hegemony is used as the basis for analyzing word structures in the context of the territory of a pesantren caregiver, to dissect the level of kiai's intervention on the sustainability of democratization through his utterances. The context of power uses Foucault's assertion, that the pattern of power relations cannot be conceptualized as belonging to an individual or class. Therefore, the author tries to distill the level of democracy from the power relations of the kiai at pesantren Raudlatu Ulum 2 Putukrejo Gondanglegi Malang through the texture perspective of his expressions.
The method used is Qualitative research. This type of research uses methods of observation, interviews and documentation. In analyzing the data, the researcher uses the following steps: Field notes are reduced in categories. The results are presented for each category. Analysis of the language of caregivers in this paper is limited to two aspects: First, things that are nuanced politically. Second, matters relating to policies within the scope of pesantren
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
NILAI-NILAI PENDIDIKAN S?RAH AL-‘ALAQ
The discussion of the contents of the Qur'an surah Al-'Alaq verses 1 to 5 relating to Islamic education provides a clear picture of several things, among others: First, the core explanation in the surah Al-'Alaq provides information concerning the issue of divine knowledge, nature and humans. Second, in general, the content of educational values in the sura is a reflection of the understanding, goals, methods and basis of education.
In this surah there is also a very basic relationship between aqidah (tauhid), and human (intellectual) skills which accumulate in the words iqra’ and ism rabbik. Implicitly, these two words reflect the existence of an important pillar in education which should be the foundation for every human being when seeking knowledge or even for the management of educational institutions.
The word iqra’ is a symbol of activity processes that lead to ways to improve the mind intelligence of the mind and to develop the potential of human beings. Through the word iqra’ in this surah, Allah SWT is reminding everyone that the potential in the form of reason that has been given needs to be empowered. One of the most important educational values contained in these verses is a sign of the importance of reading, and information about the birth of new knowledge that has not been known before with such reading activities.
While the word ism rabbik in this surah teaches the value of character education (khuluqiyah), so that the process of fostering, planting, and teaching that is done by humans is based on the belief in the manifestation of God Almighty. That way, all kinds of dynamics in the realm of education, including problems involving success or failure, are always repatriated to the will of Allah SWT and His power, so that the problems that arise do not cause anxiety, let alone despair
MANAJEMEN MADRASAH DALAM PERSPEKTIF ISLAM
If management is a process, then the organization is a framework, structure or container of people to cooperate. Thus, management is a step in achieving this goal through the potential of others were accommodated in an organization. Therefore, it is clear that the relationship between the management and organization are like two sides of a coin. In the view of Islam there are four principles for developing management, namely: 1) the truth, 2) honesty, 3) openness, and 4) expertise. Islamic educational institutions began to develop in Indonesia since before independence of Indonesia in the early 20th century AD with the establishment of formal-Islamic madrasas. It was madrasah is already running in a long time and has a long history, but the perceived Islamic education is still excluded from the National Education System up to 3 Ministers decree issued in 1975 that most people will appreciate that Islamic education received state recognition. Therefore, the management of educational institutions of Islamic-based management is a thing that is not negotiable. In fact, the principles of education in normative Islam did not collide with the concept of management.
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
