To the 100th anniversary of Irina Antonova

    No full text
This article is dedicated to the legendary Russian museum figure Irina Antonova (20.03.1922 — 30.11.2020), who worked at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts for 75 years, 52 years of which as its director. The development of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts under the leadership of Irina Antonova is seen by the author of this article as part of the evolution of museum work in the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation. The article emphasizes that the Pushkin Museum was often ahead of its time, laying the groundwork for major changes. For example, with the opening of the Museum of Private Collections as part of the State Museum of Fine Arts, the rehabilitation of private collecting in the country took place. The December Nights festival created by Irina Antonova in collaboration with the brilliant pianist Svyatoslav Richter in 1981 became a matrix of art festivals that took place in various museums of the country during the following decades. The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts was charged with promoting Western art in the USSR, of which it brilliantly took the advantage when started displaying works by Picasso, Matisse, Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, masterpieces of drawing from the Albertina Museum in Vienna, Western European and American paintings from American museums and others famous exhibitions. This is the visible part of Irina Antonova’s dynamic activity. She approached academic work no less thoroughly, as well as the organization of study and cataloguing of the collection of the State Museum of Fine Arts. And, of course, much credit must go to Irina Antonova for preparing the program for the development and reconstruction of the Pushkin Museum, which has been repeatedly revised and is being finalized before our very eyes under the direction of Marina Loshak

Discrimination in Education. Case Study: Southern Moldovan Schools

    No full text
The goal of the current study is to examine the extent to which discrimination occurs in southern Moldovan schools and to identify its predominant forms in educational environments, attempting, based on the research findings, to foster recognition of discrimination and encourage the prioritisation of educational initiatives that address the most common forms of discrimination, to decrease their occurrence in schools. To that end, the article provides a theoretical framework regarding various forms, types and manifestations of discrimination and discusses a survey on the experiences of discrimination reported by secondary and high school students from different schools across Cahul District. The survey reveals that a large percentage of students, mostly girls, have been or are being subjected to discrimination in school on various grounds and at differing frequencies, although it tends to arise rarely for the majority of students. Other key findings show that physical appearance, age, and gender discrimination are the prevalent forms of discrimination encountered in southern Moldovan schools and that they are usually manifested verbally. This general overview of the incidence and nature of discrimination in the schools of Cahul district could enhance awareness among the teaching and administrative staff, guide their attention toward the most problematic areas of discrimination within their schools, and concentrate efforts on addressing these issues while promoting a more inclusive learning environment

Background. Asthma is a heterogeneous disease with multiple etiological implications. Psychological stress plays a negative role in the perception of asthma symptoms, affecting the evolution of the disease and largely adherence to treatment and therefore the prognosis of the disease. Objective of the study. Assessment of the allergic sensitization profile in children with asthma in correlation with the perception of stress. Material and Methods. Lot: 80 children with asthma. Asthma Control Test, Stress Perception Questionnaire and Alex molecular test was used. Results. 32.5% of children had controlled asthma, 67.5% uncontrolled or partially controlled asthma. The most important sensitizations: mites (Derp1, Derp2, Derp23, Derf1, Derf2) in 38% of patients, Alternaria Alternata (Alt a1) in 31%. Type d1 (cat) at 18.75%. 35% of patients have asthma and allergic rhinitis, with polysensitization (Phl p1, Phl p2, Lol p1), Betv1 in 12.5% of patients, and herbs with late flowering (Amb a1) in 38, 75% and wormwood (Art v1) at 12.5%. According to the psychometric test: 62.5% have a moderate level of stress, 15% have a high level of stress. Most children with controlled asthma have a low level of perception of stress, and vice versa. A higher rate of uncontrolled patients with multiple sensitizations is 62.5%. Conclusion. Assessing the awareness profile, the psycho-emotional status through the perception of stress in correlation with the level of control of asthma allows a better understanding of the disease. The importance of mental health can lead to the development of interventions in this area that can have a positive impact on asthma control, but also on reducing the anxiety and stress of children with asthma

Assessing Conditions for Influence of Interest Groups in the EU. IHS Political Science Series: 2005, 106

    No full text
An important factor for the ability of interest groups to contribute to democratic decisionmaking is the balance between their input and the political autonomy of decision-makers. This article focuses on the results of four case studies of decision-making in the fields of IT and transport in the EU. These case studies show that private actors do contribute to decision-making, but they are less influential for EU politics than anticipated. Based on the case studies, this article assesses how and to what extent interest groups contribute to decision-making in the two sectors, in the context of the EU’s political structure and, notably, its alleged democratic deficit
