No full textMini-laparoscopy represents an evolving and attractive field both in general and in pediatric surgery, with a pressing and increasing technical demand. Although the advantages of the mini-laparoscopic approach (reduced morbidity, less incisional pain and discomfort, better cosmetic results) are well recognized, its technical difficulties due to the lack of suitable and comfortable instruments brought to a limited use. Moreover, in the pediatric population, the need of ergonomic mini-invasive but efficient devices is the key of a widespread use of mini-laparoscopic surgery performed with an effective and safe technique. We aim to highlight the first case of pediatric laparoscopic cholecystectomy performed with 2.3 mm percutaneous instruments (MiniLap® Percutaneous Surgical System, Teleflex Incorporated, USA) that represents a significant advance in minimally invasive surgery

Customized mini-plate for scaphoid fractures and nonunions
No full textScaphoid fractures detected in the subacute stage require a more meticulous and prompt approach to prevent chronicity and regain wrist function. Oblique-type scaphoid fractures are potentially unstable and may result in detrimental sequelae. Aim of this study is to suggest an easy surgical approach to restoration of the oblique-type scaphoid fractures or nonunions by using of a customized mini-plate, italic-S shaped. This surgical intervention is associated with promising outcomes and at long-term follow-up showed to avoid the development of a carpal collapse with concomitant arthritis of the radiocarpal joint

No full textThe paper will focus on the analysis of Guido Crepax revolutionary comic book character Valentina that belongs to the golden age of the Italian comic-book genre fumetto. The aim is to explore whether Guido Crepax Valentina character was a "living doll" filling male fantasies of her creator or she was a woman empowered by her author struggling for many of the values of the women's culture that feminists today are trying to introduce into the mainstream. It also addresses research questions that focus on comic books and gender and empowerment at the decade of sexual liberation.Through Valentina case study the present paper is going to study an approach on the concept of woman in comics, and touch the border of female empowerment issue in contemporary world taking in consideration that her revolutionary strong and independent figure was born in a society where women have been frequently viewed as passive and represented as inferior to men and where questions of sexuality were considered taboo. Despite the fact that she angered some feminists by the way she was portrayed as an object of male gaze or a damsel in distress, there is nothing anti-feminist about Valentina. The aim here is to uncover feminist themes in the stories of Valentina and to explore what empowered her and made her a contemporary icon of style and symbol of liberated women
