    No full text
The study aimed to determine the effect of empowering leadership and the job satisfaction of employees. To support the purpose, the literature was reviewed and theories were established to strengthen the title of the study. The study followed a research methodology and the research design was the descriptive assessment and correlational research design. To gather the data, validated questionnaires were and descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. Weighted mean and Pearson r correlation was used to determine the level of different variables of empowering leadership and the correlation between empowering leadership and job satisfaction. The results indicate that empowering leadership of heads and job satisfaction of employees is not very high or high but a moderate extent and there is a significant correlation between empowering leadership and job satisfaction. The research recognizes its limitation due to limited population. It recommends another study to include wider population and to include other industries. &nbsp

Employees' participation in decision-making, organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behaviour

    No full text
The study aimed to examine the effect of employees' participation in decision-making on organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behaviour. Literature was reviewed to deepen the concept of the study. The study applies descriptive assessment and correlational research design. The population was the employees of the institution where the study was conducted. The data were gathered using questionnaires. For statistical analysis, the weighted mean and Pearson r correlation were used. The study found that employees' participation in decision-making, organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behaviour were high. However, the correlation analysis suggests no correlation between employees' involvement in decision-making and organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behaviour. Thus the hypothesis is rejected. It is important to study other variables that affect organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behaviour

The extent of knowledge management practices using institutional memory and employees’ individual work performance

The study aimed to examine the influence of knowledge management practices on individual work performance. To deepen the concepts of the study, the literature was reviewed. The population of the study was all the employees of the Divine Word College of Laoag. The study used descriptive assessment and correlational research design. Validated questionnaires were used to gather the data, and descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The study found that knowledge management practice and individual work performance are considered high and Pearson r correlation found a significant correlation between knowledge management practice and individual work performance. The study also recognized its limitations because of the limited population and the variables that are being measured. It is important to conduct another study to include more variables of knowledge management practices and a bigger population

Examining the Effect of Transformational and Transactional Leadership Styles on the Innovative Work Behavior:

Abstract The study aimed to examine the effect of transformational and transactional leadership on employees' innovative work behaviour. To broaden the concept and understanding of the study, the literature was reviewed. The study used an assessment and correlational research design and therefore, a weighted mean was used to assess the level of transformational and transactional leadership styles, while the ANOVA was used to measure the correlation between leadership styles and innovative work behaviour of the employees. The population of the study was the administrators and employees of the Divine Word College of Laoag. The questionnaires were used to gather the data. The study found that administrators' transformational and transactional leadership styles are high but not very high. There is a significant correlation between transformational and transactional leadership styles and the employees' innovative work behaviour. Both leadership have a significant effect on the innovative work behaviour of the employees. Therefore, the hypothesis of the study is accepted

Enhancing employees’ grit through transformational leadership style and participation in decision-making education context

The study aimed to investigate the influence of transformational leadership styles and employees’ participation in decision-making on the employees’ grit. To deepen the concepts, literatures were reviewed. The study used descriptive assessment and correlational research design. The population of the study was the employees of the institution and questionnaires were used to gather the data. Inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The results of the study indicate that transformational leadership styles of administrators, employees’ participation in decision-making and employees’ grit were high. The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) showed that there is a significant correlation between transformational leadership style and employees’ grit and employees’ participation in decision-making and employees’ grit. Thus, the results suggest that sustaining or improving employees’ grit is to improve transformational leadership style and employees’ participation in decision-making

Promoting innovative work behavior through innovative work environment

The study examines the effect of an innovative work environment on the innovative work behaviour of employees. To broaden the concept of the study, related literature was reviewed. The study used a descriptive assessment and correlational research design and the population of the study was all employees from the two colleges (DWCL and DWCV). The data was gathered through research questionnaires and used inferential statistics to analyze the data. The study found that the innovative work environment and innovative work behaviour are high but not very high. The ANOVA result suggests that there is a significant correlation between an innovative work environment and the innovative work behaviour of employees. It recommends that nurturing innovative work behaviour is to nurture an innovative workplace. The study recognizes its limitation and recommends further investigation concerning different dimensions of innovative work environments and their effect on work performance

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
